Let's start with the food. That's what you come out for. Meh! The country style potatoes were full of oil, the eggs were not well done at all, the toast was not toasted fully and everything lacked flavor. The prices!? Through the roof. Ambiance? Nothing to speak about here. The service was the last straw. Nobody greeted, no smiles, they threw the menus and the silverware on the table and left us. The server had a bad mood, came twice to ask within the first 4 minutes of us seating to take the order. What's the rush lady!? I know it's time for business and the more tables you churn the more money, but then why would I want to come here to be treated like cattle - eat and go. They didn't want to wait, dumped the check on our desk when we were not even half way through. The whole experience was horrible. Please avoid. read more

Great place for breakfast and brunch, with a unique ambience. Whenever we are in the area of the San Francisco metro area around breakfast or brunch, we usually stop off here. The restaurant is close to the Iron Horse Trail so it's a great place to stop after a morning bike ride. There is also the Black Hawk Automobile Miseum nearby that is worth a visit. The breakfasts are nice--the specialties are the eggs benedict (love the salmon!) and the salmon scramble. They also have a homemade danish that is huge and tasty. Locals love the ambience: my dh who lived in the area previously said, a lot of business meetings get conducted here. The service is unobtrusive but attentive. The average price/ person is between $20 and $30, including coffee. We would continue to keep coming back! If you noticed, the owner hasn't claimed his business on yelp. He doesn't have to, people have been eating here for years and the place stays busy. I just don't understand why... yes the staff are friendly, but that's about where it ends. The owner comes off as a smug dude. He doesn't talk or smile much. It's like, he knows he's got you. The food is mediocre at best, the portions are very small. Breakfast plates are $19! There are far better places. I wonder what will happen when the new cafe opens up down the street. I gave 2 stars for the service because it was fast. Other than that the food was terrible! I ordered corned beef and I got a skillet with beef bites super dry, nothing that looks like corned beef, I was so confused I thought they did a mistake and brought me someone else's plate! It was topped with 2 poached eggs super dry too, that didn't look like eggs by the way and accompanied by potatoes super oily. Also, I ordered white bread with it and they brought me sourdough bread. Overall, it was tasteless and I'm very disappointed, I was looking forward to a good brunch and I thought it was the right place. I guess I was wrong. Been here a bunch of times. Quality breakfast food every time with a friendly staff. Well sized portions if you are hungry. Food review: Calamari Steak breakfast (5/5): Pan fried calamari steak served with tartar sauce that I always enjoy ordering from Katy's Korner. Belgian Waffle (4/5): Belgian Waffle is good but not as crispy as we would like and the bacon was very crispy and well done to the point of being almost burnt (see photo). Parking: Open, free lot The Icelandic pancakes!! These were my favorite!!!! Almost like crepes but just a little thicker. I recommend these. I tried the Blintzes but the zest wasn't really my thing. I don't think I would order these again. I got the tuna melt and chicken wrap. The tuna melt was your average melt but still hit the spot for me. Their mimosas are delicious and strong (buzz buzz), their customer service is always polite and attentive and it's very welcoming. Party of 8 called in 30 minutes before coming in and were seated fairly fast! Service was quick and efficient which was appreciated given how hungry we were. I ordered the vegetarian omelette which came with guac, salsa, three pieces of toast, and potatoes. I didn't care much for the salsa, but the dish itself was delicious! Added a little bit of hot sauce and boom this was the perfect brunch. My friend got the mixed berries waffle which she also enjoyed. Came here for brunch this morning and found that it was okay. It was pretty packed but parking is relatively easy to find. We didn't wait long to get a seat and the service was fast. That said, it comes with its own hiccups. I ordered a regular hot chocolate while my boyfriend ordered peppermint hot chocolate. But then both came as peppermint hot chocolate in which I can't do mint. Ended up having to wait for a server to come around and do a redo. They were nice enough to let us keep the extra peppermint hot chocolate which my boyfriend drank. Food wise, my boyfriend ordered huevos rancheros which looked good but it also seemed like nothing special. Refried beans looked like the canned version and then the avocado had a part that was black kinda. I ordered the Icelandic eggs benedict which came with potatoes. The potatoes were bomb. They were soooo good. The eggs benedict wasn't bad. But albeit a bit odd. Normally you get two large poached eggs over two English muffins. This was 3 small poached eggs over two English muffins which was a bit hard to split. The smoked salmon and spinach were good but the eggs are a bit bleh. To keep the poached eggs their form, you have to put vinegar in the water as you cook it. But the poached eggs had a vinegary taste to it. You don't need much vinegar so the fact it bled into the eggs meant they put wayyyy too much vinegar or had too little water. They were cooked fine but the vinegar taste wasn't fun. All in all a decent breakfast spot but probably one I wouldn't come back to unless I had a craving for their breakfast potatoes. This is another restaurant that I have only been to once but would 100% recommend and would go back! A friend of mine says this is his go to spot for breakfast in the Danville/San Ramon area. And based on the fact that there were no empty tables, I would say many others agree! I think over the course of 1.5hrs we had at least 3 different people helping our table (food running, filling drink orders, refilling drinks, clearing plates, ringing up our check, etc.). My group of three all ordered standard breakfast items: an omelet, eggs benedict, and your basic 3 eggs any preparation, sausage & potatoes combo (sorry, I don't recall specifics on the omelet or the eggs bene). All were a hit! The potatoes were a pleasant surprise for me; I typically prefer hash browns, so I was disappointed that "country style" was my only option here. But they we delicious! They are making me reconsider my potato preferences lol. We also ordered a side of extra crispy bacon, and the chefs had no problem cooking the bacon to the crispness we liked. For a first-time guest, the menu really stood out to me! I am not a huge breakfast fan (it's my least favorite meal of the day), and around 10am on a Sunday, I had full range of both the breakfast AND lunch menus! I did end up ordering breakfast, but a lot of the lunch items looked good as well. And then there is the sheer size of their menus.... It looked like there were multiple variations of everything (omelets, benedicts, etc.) and substitutions/special requests did not seem to be an issue. I don't recommend this place unless you like bland, underseasoned food because that's how our omelettes tasted! It's almost as if they didn't put any salt or seasoning in it at all! And then have to audacity to charge $15 per plate! The fact that our breakfast for two was over $40 before tip was disappointing because of the quality. Service wasn't much better either, with the waitress rarely coming by to check on us or refill our coffees until we flagged her down and asked. Went here for breakfast on 12/18/21 because this was the only breakfast place that I knew in San Ramon. My husband and I ordered 2 Denver omelettes and 2 cups of black coffee. Our bill before tip was $40.49! This is outrageous, especially as the omlettes were underseasoned to the point I didn't even finish eating it. While I might be less icked out about this during non-Covid times, this bothered me. When we asked for milk, the waitress pointed to a little metal creamer on our table that I hadn't noticed. I said, "that isn't ours" and she said. "Oops! That was from the last customer." Then she brought us a fresh creamer. Thank God I didn't use it because what if someone touched the creamer to the lip of their used coffee cup. Eek! I have Celiac disease so their benedicts are off the table for me now. Unfortunately they don't offer a gluten free bread or even a substitution for the bread that comes with the omlettes. No fruit. No extra tablespoon of potatoes. Nothing. My husband was not impressed with my choice for a breakfast spot and I didn't like my tasteless omlette. Weird signs are still up 10+ years later. read more

Busy little cafe tucked into a shopping center that you'd definitely miss if you didn't know where to look. The walls are embellished with sarcastic & hilarious pictures. The servers were attentive as well. The coffee was normal. Nothing special about the drip. Didn't have many cream or milk options. The crab omelette was delicious. Probably the star of the show! Definitely recommend this. The potatoes with it were seasoned nice but my plate had a few burnt sides. Unsure if that's the vibe here but I didn't try those pieces. The blitzes were good. Updating my review from a previous visit. Thought I'd give this place another shot. September 2021 visit, so still in semi pandemic mode. Most of the seating is set up outside on the covered sidewalk. Fine for this morning as weather was perfect. Got sat by the friendly bus boys. Checked out the menu and was a bit surprised at the high prices here. Even by Bay Area standards. $15 each for corned beef hash and crepes. We ended up ordering these. Food came out quick. Before I go on, I always adjust expectations of slow/unhappy service due to labor shortage, but quality of food should never go down. You're still paying for food - so you hope your food comes out good. We got our plates and were shook. The corned beef was swimming in a pool of grease in a small cast iron. And you could hardly tell the meat from the "other stuff" because of the dark color of everything. Burned probably. Then there was the country potatoes. Just lacking. And covered in specs of brown and black. It was plainly obvious the pan/grill they cooked on was not clean. The crepes were the same way. Dirty. Crepes and pancakes should never be obviously dirty. It was so bad we didn't even touch our food. To be nice, we asked for take-out containers and paid our bill. $39 for the two plates. I would be ashamed to even give this food away, much less ask someone to pay almost $40 for it. When I got home, I measured the amount of corned beef hash I got. It barely fit in a 1/2 cup measuring cup. Do better, Katy's Korner. Never have I felt so cheated out of $40 before. And please don't hide behind the pandemic. This isn't service related.
