Being from the Midwest U.S. poutine is certainly one of the Canadian dishes to try. I ordered the Donar (?) poutine. Now I've only had poutine a few times over the past couple of years and am learning that it seems anything can go over the fries and gravy. This particular poutine mentioned a spicy meat. The meat looked and tasted like a mild beef jerky. But the diced cabbage and tomato seemed to be the stars of this dish with a French tasting dressing over the top. I really enjoyed this particular dish and I am looking forward to a few more before we leave Canada. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp and fries. He said it was one of the best coconut shrimp he has ever eaten. I tried a couple and they were lightly breaded and not over powering with coconut. They were delicious. read more

Awesome seafood, really good service. Expensive, but worth it. Oysters to start. The Five Fisherman special entree was very good, but left me wanting more. Big appetite! My second entree was the lobster dinner. A fine plump, delicious crustacean! read more

I found this food stalls type restaurant located on the waterfront near where the cruise ships dock. It is close to a few other Canadian favorite regional food stalls but this place had the biggest menu of hearty food choices. From a variety of seafood to fresh smothered poutine, this is the place to go. They were not too busy so I didn't have to wait long for my food. I liked that the menu board had pictures of what the food would look like because most people eat with their eyes when there are so many good food choices. The fish and chips were fresh and the haddock was not too greasy and it came on top of a basket of hand cut fries. I really enjoyed the ambiance of standing on the waterfront eating a fresh caught meal. read more

This food truck had great pictures of their food and a huge line so knew it would be good. Seadog- 8/10. Liked that it didn't come with fries but coleslaw was quite bland. Fish was great. Lobster roll- I tried a bite of the filling and it was good but didn't get a good bite. 2 price fish and chips. Fish was 11/10 best fish ever. Fries were quite soggy. Cod nuggets- 10/10. Clams and fries - 9/10 clams were good a couple had bad bitter aftertaste. Overall 100% would recommend. Lots of picnic benches nearby to eat at. Lots of fun sauces they offer for free as well. read more

Oooof I think I ordered wrong. Had the fish and chips and it was greasy AF. Wanted the seafood chowder but they were sold out. I couldn't even really stomach the one big piece of fish or much of the fries bc they were so greasy. I should have just gotten Cows ice cream for lunch instead - at least I would have said the calories were worth it :/ read more

I'll go get the Fish and chips" So I order the two pieces with fries... here we have two large pieces of fish battered and fried to a golden brown crust .. even before I tasted it.. I new I was going to enjoy!! "Oh?? thats a lot??" ...." eat as much as you can.. Service wasn't friendly. They give you the smallest container of tartar sauce and don't even fill it half way. Food was ok at best

I see that reviews are pretty good for Katch, but sadly I didn't really enjoy what I ordered from here. Had a two piece fish and chips with fries over the summer. The fries honestly were pretty good, but the fish... oh man... I'm not picky when it comes to fish and chips. The only thing I hope for is that the batter isn't dripping/soaking from the grease. Katch's wasn't overly greasy, but it had a slew of other problems. The batter didn't fully cover the fish, and it was also extremely overcooked. The batter was significantly browned up to the point that it was very flaky and was falling off the fish just from being touched. Because it was so overcooked, it also had that gross taste of being cooked so long that the flavour of the batter was almost entirely replaced by the taste of cooking oil. I also only received one little tartar sauce packet for two pieces of fish. You sell seafood and you don't know what the proper amount of tartar sauce is to give out? Should ideally be two packets, one for each piece of fish. I was hoping that I would have had two or three packets to offset the unpleasant taste of the batter, but that was not the case. I had to be very conservative with the amount of tartar sauce I used per bite. I don't know if the cook was just having an off day at Katch or what because the reviews here are pretty good, but I genuinely had a bad experience and don't feel inclined to ever give them a second chance in the event that my fish ends up being so... blah again. read more

3.25/5 !! Katch is a super classy store on the waterfront. As a tourist without any reviews for this place, I had to try it out. Because I was on the east coast, I had to try out some seafood despite the overly expensive food everywhere. I got the lobster poutine and I wasn't sure if I liked the lobster because of a placebo effect or if it was actually fresh. I think it was a bit of both because I had some really good, different lobster the other day. I was a little disappointed because I paid $20 for LARGE packaged cheese curds that just did not melt or provide to the proper poutine experience. The fries weren't too special either and ended up being soggy at the end. Some of my friends got a fish'n'chips and upgraded the fries to a Martime poutine which gave them extra pieces of fish for a value price. It was a huge portion for approximately $20 and the tar tar sauce was amazing!! I would highly recommend sharing this with a friend for the most value when spending 15% tax here. Overall, the staff were very nice and provided excellent recommendations, the shack was nicely designed with a blue and white colour scheme. You can't miss it if you walk along the water! read more

Considering that this is a stand on the waterfront, the fish sandwich that I got here stands among the top ten fish sandwiches I've ever had, and that's including the best of Hawai'i, coastal California, Oregon, Washington & BC. A gem. read more

Kinda the worse seafood place I have purchased from.. I got scallops and fries..the fries portion wouldn't even fill a child ... over cooked shoe strings...the gravy thicker than pudding... not worth the 21$ spent! read more
