I found this food stalls type restaurant located on the waterfront near where the cruise ships dock. It is close to a few other Canadian favorite regional food stalls but this place had the biggest menu of hearty food choices. From a variety of seafood to fresh smothered poutine, this is the place to go. They were not too busy so I didn't have to wait long for my food. I liked that the menu board had pictures of what the food would look like because most people eat with their eyes when there are so many good food choices. The fish and chips were fresh and the haddock was not too greasy and it came on top of a basket of hand cut fries. I really enjoyed the ambiance of standing on the waterfront eating a fresh caught meal.

This food truck had great pictures of their food and a huge line so knew it would be good. Seadog- 8/10. Liked that it didn't come with fries but coleslaw was quite bland. Fish was great. Lobster roll- I tried a bite of the filling and it was good but didn't get a good bite. 2 price fish and chips. Fish was 11/10 best fish ever. Fries were quite soggy. Cod nuggets- 10/10. Clams and fries - 9/10 clams were good a couple had bad bitter aftertaste. Overall 100% would recommend. Lots of picnic benches nearby to eat at. Lots of fun sauces they offer for free as well.

Great service, DELICIOUS poutine!! Spectacular cheese curd to fries and gravy ratio. Made fresh, on the spot. I ordered the regular poutine, but they offered many variations to include some loaded with seafood.

Katch, waterfront Halifax Nova Scotia!! just off the Boat and looking to have a quick meal before seeing some of points of interest this city had to offer!! Had it all planned out, not much time was given to be ashore... so here we are... will get this and maybe that for lunch, before our sit down depature dinner!! "Would you like a lobster roll or fish and chips" I had already made my desicion was looking forward for fish n chip, had been eating lobster rolls the past day something different was what a wanted!! " Lobster roll!!"....." Oh??" "How about 1/2 and 1/2... will share it 1/2 Lr and 1/2 Fc" " Ok.. thats sounds good!"...agreement!! "You start on the Lobster roll.. I'll go get the Fish and chips" So I order the two pieces with fries... here we have two large pieces of fish battered and fried to a golden brown crust .. even before I tasted it.. I new I was going to enjoy!! "Oh?? thats a lot??" ...." eat as much as you can.. I'll eat the rest!!" and I did but honesty I could not finish the fries?? very very good fish and chips not the same as we have locally.. chicharones as they are known but these fillets would make a big a** taco!!

Service wasn't friendly. They give you the smallest container of tartar sauce and don't even fill it half way. Food was ok at best

The jalapeño cornbread was another standout....moist, flavourful, and with just the right amount of kick. The fish and chips were excellent, while the tater tot-chos were pure comfort food, loaded with melted cheddar, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Of course, we needed some veggies for balance, so the kale and quinoa salad totally counts! The perfect pairing throughout was the Mango Dragonfruit Sour. Super refreshing and fruity, with enough acidity to cut through all the richness of the meal. Great happy hour selection, lots of variety, and a fun spot to settle in for a feast. Definitely a place worth checking out when you're in Halifax!

Made sure we were ok every time he was in the vicinity. I ordered the mushroom Benedict with the hollandaise on the side. It was great with the locally made truffle cream cheese. I did have to ask for a steak knife to be able to cut through the bread. It was a well done piece of pizza dough. Tasty but tough to get through. Came with tater tots and a donair sauce to dip them in. My husband ordered the stuffed baked potato. He loved it but said next time he will order the side salad on the side and ask for more dressing. I ended the meal with a cool glass of rose. We will definitely be back.

We're taking three weeks and eating our way across Canada from Halifax in the east to our final…read moredestination of Edmonton in the west. We're trying to consume seafood for every lunch and dinner. For lunch today, we chose McKelvies, based on reviews and the fact that we happened to be visiting the Halifax boardwalk. It was a late lunch so we weren't famished, but hankering for something tasty. Both of my picks came from the Starter & Appetizer Menu: Mussels in white wine sauce and Garlic-truffle fries. My wife ordered a regular entree so our server scored big points when both orders arrived at our table simultaneously! The mussels were harvested from a local farm yesterday and their fresh, sweetness testified to that detail. The white wine broth, laced with thyme, garlic and other herbs was so tasty that I drained my bowl to the last drop. The truffle fries were a satisfying compliment to the mussels and I left the restaurant, completely satisfied. The food offerings were well priced and served/plated beautifully. The restrooms were well maintained. The only down-side in a large city setting is the lack of abundant street parking. A helpful hint is parking in Dartmouth and taking the Halifax Ferry. The restaurant is up one block and over two, so great walking distance.

Stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal…read more I ordered the crab/lobster burger that came slightly breaded and served in a house-made bun with a tasty slaw and pickled onions and lettuce inside. So full of lobster and crab that the seafood oozed out the sides of the breading. It came with a choice of fries or house salad, and I chose the latter: crispy greens, carrots, radishes, tomatoes and a mild, creamy dressing. My spouse dined on the mussels and a side of truffle-Parmesan fries and thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. He said the mussels were fresh, and our cheerful server confirmed fishermen had caught them not far from the Halifax shores. Since we ate between lunch and dinner, only two other parties atein the restaurant and maybe one or two others sat at the bar. Overall, prices were reasonable and the restaurant was well worth the visit. A lovely experience indeed.
