Dave's Lobster is everything you'd expect from a tourist-trap lobster roll spot: high prices, smaller portions, and long lines. That said, we were pleasantly surprised by the taste and overall quality of the food. Service was fine--efficient, if not especially warm. The lobster itself was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. As mentioned, the portions could be more generous, but overall we'd still recommend this place if you're craving a solid lobster roll.

Saw the review on YouTube and decided to give it a try. The store is right next to Cow's ice cream shop. There was no line when we got there. The guy greeted us politely and he seemed friendly. There are 4-5 seats provided in the front of the store. First you pick the style of lobster rolls you want and then pick the side which are chips, coleslaw, and potato salad. There are Local (cold lobster rolls), Fancy (warm lobster rolls, and Half-and-half. We got one of each. The market price on the day is $31 plus 15% tax. They accept credit card payments. We all agreed that the price was too high for the portion and not worth it. We had better lobster rolls in Portland, Maine. My lobster rolls had a lot of bones and for the cold one I feel like they put too much mayonnaise. Overall it tasted A-ok.

So I have to say when I ordered a large lobster roll at Daves and I got it, I was super disappointed. It was tiny. It was my first lobster roll and I felt ripped off. After three weeks of going to through the marintine provinices I realized that this was a general size of a lobster roll. And the flavour was good. And comparing it to other places, it had an amazing lobster meat ratio. so I would say this is a good experience. What was not a good experience was how long we had to wait for this lobster roll to come out. It took almost half an hour. And that is shoving already cooked meat into a bun. If you are that short of staff hire some. That is what prevented us for going back to this food truck. And that is why they lost a star.

As soon as our ship pulled into port I went on a lobster roll quest and loved the 1/2 hot and 1/2 cold lobster roll I ate at Dave's

On the hunt to try as many different lobster rolls around Halifax area and this came up. This is a take out place so you would have to eat on picnic tables around. This was right at the Halifax harbour front, right next to cows. It was a good lobster rolls, different from other ones that we tried. This came with a bag of covered bridge brand chips. The covered bridge brand chips were good and very crunchy. Definitely worth a try for a good lobster roll. The lobster was very fresh and tasty. Seemed about the same size as you would get around the east coast. We did get the larger size lobster roll, not sure how big this was compared to the regular size but overall it was very tasty.

I'm a sucker for the food shacks on the waterfront. Who doesn't like being on the boardwalk, and having a tasty bite to eat while you take in the sun and the people watching? Dave's opened up last year, and I hadn't tried them yet, so I swung by while on a leisurely spring stroll. Being a lobster place, and that this is a heavily tourist-ed area, I shouldn't have been surprised at the price, but still, $17 for their regular lobster roll, chips and a pickle can give you pause. I waited a few minutes at a nearby table before my order was called out, and soon I was noshing on the classiest boardwalk grub Halifax has to offer (sorry, random hot dog vendor by Stayner's). The lobster was lightly dressed in mayo, with a mix of claws, knuckles and some more finely shredded meat. The chunks were ok, marginally overcooked, and the shredded meat was meh, as it was fairly watery, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was from frozen. The buttered and grilled roll was really good, lightly browned and crisp on each side. The pickle was fine, certainly not up to par with the local Naked Pickle brand (RIP), and the Covered Bridge sweet potato chips are always enjoyable. It was nice to try out, but unless you're a hardcore lobster fan, I'd suggest saving your money for a full meal at one of Halifax's many great restaurants.

I loved visiting the waterfront today. What a great place! We came across this lobster shack so of course we had to have the lobster roll (since we're out east, and all). It was very tasty. Lots of lobster meat and mixings piled into a warm roll, then served with a bag of chips and a slice of pickle. Yummy. The only thing not yummy was the price. Jesus! $21 for this little sandwich. Oh well!

Good lobster roll along the water. It comes with a bag of chips- sweet potato, salt and vinegar, salt or bbq. You will have to wait for the food to be prepared. They actually toast the bun which is a big plus. They have 2 different styles: 1. The local: light mayo and celery 2. The fancy: butter, lemon and garlic If you can't decide, you can get half and half which is what I did.

Really excellent lobster roll down on the boardwalk in Halifax. Made fresh, tasty bread with big chunks of lobster claw. Great coleslaw too.

Best lobster roll ever! Fresh and perfectly seasoned. Look no further than Dave's for the perfect lobster roll. The taco is also very good!

Very good lobster roll, but, holy kamoly, super expensive. Glad we tried it because we heard great things, but not again.

It's okay. The lobster tastes good enough but it takes quite a long time and the portions seem really small for what you pay.

Spectacular house made pasta. Exceptional service. Beautiful views. We'll be back soon.read more

While vacationing in Halifax, we made a point of visiting Bicycle Thief after hearing countless…read morerecommendations from friends. The restaurant is hard to miss, with several bright red bicycles decorating the entrance--a charming nod to its name and a great photo opportunity. We stopped by around 3 p.m. without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to snag a table for two despite the restaurant being quite busy. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, cozy, and inviting. The service was equally impressive--professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling my best that day, so I kept my order simple with a hot tea and the Beef Carpaccio. Our server immediately noticed I was under the weather and thoughtfully made sure I always had a fresh supply of hot water for my tea. It was such a small gesture, but it made a big difference and spoke volumes about the level of hospitality. The Beef Carpaccio was absolute perfection. Made with AAA beef tenderloin, it was delicate, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I only wish I had been feeling better so I could have explored more of the menu. My boyfriend ordered the Linguine all'Aragosta, featuring local lobster, tomato, garlic, vino bianco, cream, and parmigiano. I managed to steal two bites, and it was heavenly--rich, fresh, and packed with flavor. The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was indulgent without being heavy. Lastly, we ordered the creme brulee and it was perfection! Creamy with the perfect brulee sugar top crack and not too sweet. It's easy to see why Bicycle Thief has become such a Halifax institution and why it's reportedly one of Sidney Crosby's favorite local restaurants. Between the exceptional food, attentive service, and inviting ambiance, it absolutely lived up to the hype. We can't wait to return on a future visit--and hopefully next time I'll be healthy enough to enjoy even more of the menu.

The service was…read morepretty quick and we were seated right away with plenty of seating available (about 2pm on a Monday). My partner and I shared the seafood chowder, lobster roll with fries, and the chocolate mousse cake. I loveddddd the chowder- absolutely delicious! Creamy and full of seafood pieces, I could've ordered another just to my self! The fries and chocolate mousse cake were fantastic as well. The mousse came with a base that was sort of a crunchy wafer- like a ferrero rocher The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the lobster roll, but disclaimer*, this was the first one I ever had so I had nothing to compare it to/know exactly what to expect. The lobster was cold, the bun was a bit too small for the amount of toppings and I just didn't love it *shrug* The inside wasn't anything glamorous, but it was quaint and had beautiful windows facing the street. After we paid, we overheard someone ordering the chowder with the lobster roll (instead of the fries/salad option on the menu) which was annoying because the server didn't offer it to us when we ordered. (We wouldn't have got the fries if we had known).

I had the haddock with shrimp, which was very tasty, but heavily seasoned with the tomato pesto. The menu was quite extensive, offering a lot of choices for a large group and Carl provided us with excellent service. We just weren't wowed by the experience.
