Really liked this place. We were in town on a cruise and happened upon this place after walking along the waterfront. The vibe was really cool. I ordered the tuna poke bowl. It was super fresh and really tasty. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The piece of fish was humongous. My mom ordered the blackened haddock sandwich. She said it was a little spicy and that the kettle chips were cooked perfectly and really nicely seasoned. The server was super friendly and the service was quick. The location is great. Tons of outdoor seating. Also, the price was super reasonable for fresh, tasty tuna and fish. read more

This spot looks the part--right on the water, lots of buzz, seafood galore. But for me, it fell flat. Classic tourist trap energy. First off, the lobster was wildly overpriced. I get that it's Halifax, I get the location... but come on. You're paying more for the place than the food. What really soured the experience, though, was the greeting--or lack of it. I always say, how you're welcomed into a restaurant sets the tone. The host? Cold. Dismissive. There was a wait for a table, which is fine, but when I tried to grab a drink at the bar while waiting, she shut that down like a school principal with a no-nonsense rulebook. No explanation. No offer to help. Just a hard "no." I'm still confused--why not let someone enjoy a drink while they wait and happily spend money in the meantime? Missed opportunity all around. Highly and happily recommend. It looks like a basic tourist trap, but the seafood and service exceeded expectations. The lobster roll was generous, delicious and hit the spot. The caprese salad shocked me- huge portions of yummy mozzarella, fresh tomato and peaches! Chicken tenders for the child in our party were on point, fries hot and fresh. And for some reason, the lemonade. It was actual lemonade! We were there on a Saturday at lunch and the place was a well-oiled machine. Every server was friendly, calm and welcoming despite what looked like a brutal pace for them. We saw two different tables get a dozen oysters and shrimp and those people were clearly thrilled with their experience. Kudos to the management and staff here. read more

Was there a few years ago but can't remember the details- Went tonight - super busy as a lot of festivals going on but ordered the kids meal burger n fries plus side salad- The initial staff seemed confused on where I'd order take out but I found a stool and the bar staff found me- they were great even providing water as I waited and taking my order literally have written - this staff member deserves 5/5 stars anyway! Plus they were nice and beautiful! I think name Tiana? Anyway it came with due to request- lettuce/ tomato and side ketchup and mustard- no onions as asked or relish but that was fine- initially the burger looked weak like big bun but not a lot of patty as the cook flattened the heck outta it as it was think- probably due to it being kids and / or smaller burger portion so it was flattened to fit the bun- the bun was brioche/ and the tomatoe cut think but when I first saw the patty I was like what?? Not much to it but the flavour was apparently amazing like seasoned well and the fries- although the coated kind were delicious extra crispy as requested! Side ceaser salad cheap price which was awesome and tasty - generic bacon bits and croutons but enjoyed by the kid! Will return!! read more

We were able to walk-in without a wait during the lunch rush on a weekday. The servers were super busy, but still did a great job. The lobster was delicious and the menu mentioned they were alive in a tank up until you ordered them. We went to this restaurant hoping it would have some higher quality seafood as many reviews were positive and the price was higher than other restaurants. When we got there, it was a nice big space with some nice decor and the service was great. Unfortunately the scallop ceviche was subpar with the lime juice tasting like it's out of the bottle, pineapples from the can, and scallops that were frozen with no fresh flavor. The lobster poutine was ok but the fries were mediocre and the lobster was dry. The fish and chips were a decent portion but still expensive with the fish being dry and flaky, the coleslaw wasn't amazing, and the fries were mediocre again. Maybe the market price seafood options are better but I won't be returning here. read more

It is a large lounge style restaurant on the waterfront. Nice old style nautical decore inside. Booth seating. Kind of dark inside. The fresh lobster and the seafood chowder were excellent. I liked the potato salad. The place is quiet in the off-season so I don't know about their other dishes. They have decent beer selection. Service was OK. Service will be much slower during the tourist season so go during off hours in summer. Most restaurants are expensive on the waterfront so you cannot avoid it. read more

Okay sometimes I think Yelp should have two ratings one for food and one for service. Because I find that I often the rating I give isn't a fair one. So for this restaurant: 1 star for service (if that) 4 stars for food and atmosphere There was a MASSIVE line outside because the hostess was absolutely the slowest and most incompentant person I saw at the job. She spent so much time standing around chatting with servers. It took us 15 minutes just to get in which should have only taken 2. And when we left the line outside was even bigger even though there was plenty of seats available. I understand staff when they are overwhelmed and trying their best, but this person simply wasn't doing her job. Our sever was slow too but at least you could see that she was trying and she was friendly although we had to ask for water, ask for menus, ask for a beer etc. etc. The place itself was lovely. Nice open atmosphere, right off the waterfront. Decorated quaintly and very clean. Food was the standard seafood fare with some land lover items. When the food finally came out it was tasty. Really enjoyed the scallops. Definately fresh and well cooked. Sweet and tender, i could have eaten the dozen myself. Lobster roll was tasty. I spent three weeks in the East Coast. This was my first lobster roll, I probably ate about 20 on the trip. This one was decent but not standoutish. It had a decent amount of lobster. I am not a huge chip fan and these were bland. All in all I would go back for the atmosphere but not if that hostess is running the ship. read more

tl;dr Decent food with spotty service. 2010 was the first time I visited the Waterfront Warehouse. I went for the classic fish and chips and remembered the timber ambiance having a lasting impression on me. Coming back after more than a decade, I can finally make a more critical review of the establishment. The first thing I should point out is that the restaurant is warehouse-sized, i.e. huge. Because of its large interior and exterior space, it lends itself well to large groups and tourists (I saw a tour bus right next to it). While you'd expect the restaurant to have enough staff to meet this demand, I didn't find as many as I expected; the ones present seemed to be overextending themselves trying to serve their tables. Hence why I had to wait a while before finally dining. I arrived around 8 pm and was seated 10 minutes later. It's worth pointing out that there wasn't a line at this point, and I was just standing at reception waiting for someone to seat me. Another 10 minutes later was when my order was taken. 5 minutes in, I got my mug of Keith's, and 15 minutes following that was when I got my dish. Overall, I didn't find the wait too bad, but I guess it could've been worse. The chowder turned out to be well done. Creamy and hearty, with some good scallops to complement the stew. I'll have to say that overall it was nice coming back here again and bringing closure to something I've wanted to do. It's definitely a tourist hub, so while you may be tempted to try it out if it's your first time in Halifax, I would recommend other restaurants dotted around the area for a better seafood scene. read more

Prices have increased since my last visit in 2012. A one and a half pound lobster dinner was $46 on my most recent visit. It was still yummy, but not as good a deal as $19.99, obviously. A side of fries is only $1.50 though, which is pretty good. Unfortunately, the fries were really dark and tasted somewhat burnt. I wasn't a huge fan. This is apparently one of the RCR Hospitality Group's restaurants of which we previously suffered through prior without realizing the connection. A shameful exploitation of tourists. Came here because this place was named one of the top 3 chowder places in Halifax, but decided to try their seafood tower as well. The lobster was fresh and sweet, and exceptional when dipped in butter. I recommend starting from the mussels and working your way up to the lobster because everything else seems less exceptional when you start with the lobster ;). read more

Great location & ambiance. It was spacious and good for groups. The menu, although varied, had limited dairy free options & upon asking they didn't accommodate variations. Example, I wanted a dish with tomato sauce instead of cream sauce, but it was a no go. I didn't starve, however, and thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp cocktail for starters. They were large & served with a tangy & tasty sauce. For my main dish, I chose the BBQ salmon. It was lovely & not over sauced. They were able to give extra veg instead of starch, which I appreciated, and they were nicely seasoned & not overdone. The service was meh. Lack of command of the menu & kitchen capability, with inconsistent wait times. I was in good company & not in a rush, so it was fine. I wasn't disappointed and would go back if the group made that decision, but would explore elsewhere if given my choice. read more

We stopped here on a hot Halifax summer day. We sat inside. There is a gorgeous patio overlooking the water but in full sun it was hot. There's no air conditioning but a nice breeze coming through. We waited about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't too bad as they had some comfy seating. We ordered the lobster spring rolls and the crab dip. The spring rolls were tasty but there were only two and they were barely stuffed which was a bit disappointing. The crab dip, on the other hand was loaded with crab and was delicious. We were seated quickly as one of the managers handed us over to a hostess. After we sat down I checked into Yelp and took a picture of their menu. Hungry, I was very attentive to see what neighboring tables ordered as their food arrived, then moments later everyone else received their drinks and even refills of water. 8 minutes later not one of their restaurant waiting staff (4) who had a total of 5 tables even attempted to let us know someone would be with us shortly - even if they didn't give us water, letting us know would have been the least they could have done. Instead, I told myself that if nobody comes by in 2 minutes, we were going to leave. Sure enough, nobody did. We got up and walked out of the restaurant. Just before we left through the doors, we saw 3 managers sitting down just talking about the business. I told them, "hi guys, we were sat down 10 minutes ago and nobody came to serve us or even give us water, and so now we're leaving". Just so you know how bad their customer service is, he stood up and acting a little concerned said, "oh really?"... Yes folks, that's all he did all he said. Although this place has mixed reviews and it seems that apart from us that everyone else receive their food, we did not. I hope it wasn't because of my skin color but as a tourist hoping to experience a Nova Scotian dinner, I was utterly disappointed. I just don't want anyone else to have bad dining experiences. Review is for 3.5 stars. The ambience was great. The restaurant used to be an old tugboat repair facility, so you can definitely see a lot of the building's old structure was left in place. We ordered a dozen shucked oysters which was a special at the time we went (4pm - 12 oysters for $28 instead of $36). It was a chef's selection so you had no control over what you got. Most of the oysters were fantastic, fresh with that little bit of brine, but a couple were a bit on the "off" side. The seafood chowder was amazing! Although not as thick as I like my chowders, it was full of freshly cooked haddock, salmon, scallops, mussels, shrimp, and bits of potatoes, celery and corn. The broth was a little but salty for my taste buds but with a spoonful of seafood, it evened out. Definitely one to have again. Out waiter explained to us that they make their chowders to order, so no order is ever pulled from a ready made pot. Big plus in my book. Hubby had the fish tacos. Between fish tacos and the lobster roll, our waiter recommended the fish tacos. It came in two tortilla shells with a generous helping of house made potato crisps. Fish was light battered and deep fried, with some jalapeño guacamole and drizzled in BBQ sauce. Personally, I thought it would have tasted better without BBQ sauce. Maybe try ordering it with BBQ sauce on the side? Good overall, although not very memorable for me. In general, great place to eat, especially of you have cause for a celebration.
