We had the curry and chips - which was an amazing pulled chicken on top of fries with a great curry gravy. My wife had the Dublin Pastie - which was a puff pastry stuffed with chicken and a bunch of other yummy stuff. The waiter was very good with suggestions on favourites. He made sure to check in on us, we never felt rushed or ignored despite the many people in the pub. I came here for a casual work meeting with my colleagues on a Sunday afternoon. It was quite enjoyable. I got the lobster roll with Caesar salad. While the roll itself was small, the lobster salad mix was fresh and tasty. While I generally prefer fresh lobster off the shell with melted butter for my lobster rolls, the one I got from the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse was not bad at all. The Caesar salad, on the other hand, was absolutely phenomenal. I love how every piece of lettuce was well covered in the dressing, served with some of the tastiest croutons I've had. Food 10/10 great food the meat almost fell off the bone their steak and lamb is to die for and their oysters are amazing. Service 8/10 you have to get there before happy hour or else you will have almost no tables left and food will take 1-1.5 hrs to get to table, other than that if you get there early you will have no problems getting a table. Mostly due to our seating 3 stars for us but likely a 4 star for some. Friday night we went to hear the music but had to sit way in back and a floor up. Place had lots of people talking in our area. Very noisy. It did sound like the band had the lower area engaged and so those people were more listening to the music. Band seemed to play a mix of old Irish and some easy singable recents. The service was a little slow at times to get an order in. The drinks and food came reasonably quickly. They were busy. We had both desserts and thought they were very good. We didn't get to go there. I made an online reservation, but when I got no confirmation after u few hours, I called. On the phone I was informed that there was no reservation, there was no possibility of getting in - goodby. So we had a lovely meal somewhere else. This place has been around Halifax for many years. It has historic decor with deep Irish roots. The entry into the place is strange because there are multiple doors that are open/closed depending on time of day. First come first serve seating with the option to make a reservation. They even have small little rooms with private booth seating. Service is great and the food is amazing. I couldn't stop eating the fries dipped in gravy with my fish and chips. Fish was perfectly breaded and fried. My only complaint is stick with beer or straight up liquor. If you want and good old fashion or manhattan- go elsewhere. We had a Cesar salad, mussels and a Shepard Pie on first night and came back the next night for dollar oysters and potato skins and they were both absolutely delicious. We entered through the upper level which was a little calmer, the lower level was actually a lot more happening. We didn't see the sign for buck a shuck until we walked back in the direction of the restaurant, but it was nice and small on a chalk board outside one of the doors. I ordered Pan Fried Haddock and it was good. I'd get it again. Gord ordered a Dublin Pastie. He liked the pastie and would get it again but said the rice was cold. Sister Sarah ordered fish and chips. She said it was good ... it looked good. Joey ordered a corned beef sandwich and liked it. Rowdy Dow came on at 9pm and they were good. It was an easy choice for me as Old Triangle throws off a Midwest neighbourhood bar/grill vibe that makes me feel at home. Gayle and I each started off with a "wee pint", Guinness for her and a Nine Locks Fathom Double IPA (from Dartmouth NS). Went here on a Wednesday by myself and sat at the bar. I had every intention of getting both food and drink but I was more so on a mission to try some whiskey. They have whiskey flight Wednesdays where pretty much every one of their catered flights are all the same low price. They give you a few shot glasses and lay them out on a paper that describes their flavor profile. I ended up getting two flights (both of which actually had 4 tastes instead of just 3) The staff was talkative and informed about their product. Service was friendly and easy. The interior was everything you think of for an Irish pub, dark wood, green lamps, posters of Guinness.
