Moving right along with reviews of places used by my tour group. We had limited options here, vegetarian was the Halloumi Bowl. I knew of the cheese but wasn't sure what I was getting. Gonna be buying that cheese going forward and grilling it! So delicious! Others envied my very tasty looking bowl. Not heavy, not salty, not greasy, just better than plain right. read more

We stopped here on a hot Halifax summer day. We sat inside. There is a gorgeous patio overlooking the water but in full sun it was hot. There's no air conditioning but a nice breeze coming through. We waited about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't too bad as they had some comfy seating. We ordered the lobster spring rolls and the crab dip. The spring rolls were tasty but there were only two and they were barely stuffed which was a bit disappointing. The crab dip, on the other hand was loaded with crab and was delicious. Nice spot to sit over the water for sure. read more

Do not eat here. If you're hungry, thirsty, want to either experience a true Nova Scotian lobster or just want to eat in a great waterfront atmosphere, dont be fooled by the "Warehouse Waterfront" - their name is simply a facade and an experience that is just waiting to disappoint you. We were seated quickly as one of the managers handed us over to a hostess. After we sat down I checked into Yelp and took a picture of their menu. Hungry, I was very attentive to see what neighboring tables ordered as their food arrived, then moments later everyone else received their drinks and even refills of water. 8 minutes later not one of their restaurant waiting staff (4) who had a total of 5 tables even attempted to let us know someone would be with us shortly - even if they didn't give us water, letting us know would have been the least they could have done. Instead, I told myself that if nobody comes by in 2 minutes, we were going to leave. Sure enough, nobody did. We got up and walked out of the restaurant. Just before we left through the doors, we saw 3 managers sitting down just talking about the business. I told them, "hi guys, we were sat down 10 minutes ago and nobody came to serve us or even give us water, and so now we're leaving". Just so you know how bad their customer service is, he stood up and acting a little concerned said, "oh really?"... Yes folks, that's all he did all he said. Although this place has mixed reviews and it seems that apart from us that everyone else receive their food, we did not. I hope it wasn't because of my skin color but as a tourist hoping to experience a Nova Scotian dinner, I was utterly disappointed. I just don't want anyone else to have bad dining experiences. It is your money after all and as I learned, there are other restaurants nearby worth skipping this place for. read more

Review is for 3.5 stars. The ambience was great. The restaurant used to be an old tugboat repair facility, so you can definitely see a lot of the building's old structure was left in place. We ordered a dozen shucked oysters which was a special at the time we went (4pm - 12 oysters for $28 instead of $36). It was a chef's selection so you had no control over what you got. Most of the oysters were fantastic, fresh with that little bit of brine, but a couple were a bit on the "off" side. The seafood chowder was amazing! Although not as thick as I like my chowders, it was full of freshly cooked haddock, salmon, scallops, mussels, shrimp, and bits of potatoes, celery and corn. The broth was a little but salty for my taste buds but with a spoonful of seafood, it evened out. Definitely one to have again. Out waiter explained to us that they make their chowders to order, so no order is ever pulled from a ready made pot. Big plus in my book. Hubby had the fish tacos. Between fish tacos and the lobster roll, our waiter recommended the fish tacos. It came in two tortilla shells with a generous helping of house made potato crisps. Fish was light battered and deep fried, with some jalapeño guacamole and drizzled in BBQ sauce. Personally, I thought it would have tasted better without BBQ sauce. Maybe try ordering it with BBQ sauce on the side? Good overall, although not very memorable for me. In general, great place to eat, especially of you have cause for a celebration. A little on the pricey side. Amazing seafood chowder, meh on fish tacos. Hit and miss for oysters. read more

We returned to Halifax for a couple of nights before regrettably ending our visit to Nova Scotia and PEI. We drove back from Sydney on this day, via some tidal bore watching. We found our downtown hotel and wandered around ending up in Water Front Warehouse. It is a big place and we wanted to eat outside although it was almost too cool. We started out again, for the umpteenth time with Seafood Chowder. This was not the best we experienced. It had salmon, scallops, haddock and mussels. It was slightly thickened but needed some butter and herbs. It was pretty plain. My Lobster Thermador was huge. Here also, the sauce needed seasoning. It had too much parmesan. It had two dozen mussels on top which were fine. The seafood was good, comprising shrimp and scallops. I rated it 3+. The Lobster crepes contained one small piece of lobster each and it was not all that good. It had a tart white wine sauce with nothing to balance that. Rated 2 stars at best. This was an OK meal, not great. When back in Halifax, I would look for something else. Maybe this is a better place to enjoy oysters. My rating is a weak three stars. read more

Took the crew here for our first night on the town in Halifax. Their special $24 lobster dinner (1 1/4 lb) was perfect and Liz was a patient and energetic server. The table shared a platter of 32 oysters and those things were gone in a flash! Apparently one of my wingmen had never enjoyed cold water oysters and the man is a convert! Great open loft vibe with warm woods and accent lighting to match the maritime theme. read more

So, the chowder tasted fine. But one of six of my raw oysters tasted off (enough that I didn't finish eating it), and one out of three mussels in my chowder was closed. I noted both of these, and got nothing more than a "that's annoying." Why, yes it is. I'm willing to assume the oyster looked fine before being prepared, but they should be checking for mussels that are potentially dangerous to eat. Also, the server knew nothing about the wines on the very short local list. read more

You know summer is here when the signs are up that patios are open. Waterfront Warehouse from the outside is huge and walking in it looks just like a warehouse open concept feel to it with a hug bar on the side filled with some great beer on tap. Starving one day I convinced the BF to pop in so I could get something to eat. Of course I try to do something I go with a Cesar salad which was not that bad I found the dressing to tangy. The BF went for the typical burger and fries which actually looked really tasty. I seen in some of the other reviews that the seafood was a hit and miss and that goodness I am not a huge fan. I can get the F&C and that is about as far as I am going to go. Now in the summer time this place is normally filled and flowing outside to the large patio and sometimes even volley ball games with sand brought in to make it like the beach. Fun times to be had at the Warehouse read more

Yesterday I decided to give this place a shot while visiting Halifax! What a cool place. The atmosphere is very fun, it may or may not be an old boat house, I'm not sure. We elected to sit on the patio, where it was still warm enough to enjoy our lunch. I had a very tasty cranberry mash beer along with a delicious ahi tuna sandwich. Might be the best I've I've had. The tuna was piled on, cooked rare. Along with a fresh mix of greens and Kim chi. Incredible. I would certainly say you should try this place while visiting downtown. read more

While eating here I noticed several mice walking around; mentioned it to the server and she thought nothing of it. "At least they aren't rats" she said. I don't know about you, but mice running around while you're eating dinner is not acceptable. Because of that; I will not ever go here again - it's just gross and unsanitary!! With all that said and putting the disturbing fact that I'm eating with mice aside; we did have some great fresh oysters. Good variety and very tasty - although a bit pricey too. Lobster dinner was decent - no issues with that. Lastly; I ordered a Caesar salad that never arrived until the dinner showed up. Pretty messed up but the server seemed oblivious to that as if it was normal to get it with the dinner. Who knows, maybe I'm just crazy!?? read more

Waterfront Warehouse - Fresh Oysters - Seafood Near Me - Halifax, Nova Scotia

The only restaurant in Halifax that we had poor service. We waited 35 mins for two bowls of soup that was blamed on the kitchen, when we received them it was obvious that they sat under a heat lamp for some time. read more

Menu looked great online. So we decided to eat here after our Harbour Hopper tour. We waited to be seated for nearly 10 mins and people started lining up behind us, probably about 15 of us, stood waiting to be seated. The whole entire time your hostess/hostesses stood and stared at us, whispering and giggling at the growing line of potential customers. A few of us asked if it was possible to get a seat and if they were too busy for more service. The hostess acted confused and finally asked if we wanted to be seated to eat. Well of course we were!! We didn't show up just to have her stare at us like wax figurines out of a museum. Finally was seated. Our server was amazing and very attentive. We ordered two appetizers, Bacon wrapped scallops and Oysters Rockefeller. Both appetizers were delicious, however, for the three lonely oysters...the price was incredibly inflated. Next we ordered a Cheeseburger and Lobster roll. My partner liked the cheeseburger but found it could have used more seasoning as the patty was rather bland and the cheese on top was over cooked. The positive aspect is a nice thick hearty burger and not a frozen patty puck. My Lobster roll was just ok and needed more seasoning as I found it to be bland as well. Some garlic or onion would have really helped. The kettle chips that came with the roll were scarce and had a slight stale taste. I enjoyed my partner's fries that came with his burger. Those were very good. However, for $23 that price is very inflated for the over all size of the meal and small lobster roll. Afterwards, I went over to David's Lobster and ordered a very delicious and well seasoned lobster roll and a bag of kettle chips for just shy of $20. My partner ordered a root beer, that tasted a bit flat and watered down with too much ice. I ordered a Chain yard cider to try but found that was over priced. Liquor store price is about $5 a can. Mine was $11 at your establishment. Yikes! We considered ordering dessert but decided against it as we had already racked up nearly $100 in very small quantity of food. It was time to leave and we won't be back. read more

Food was very good, decent beer selection, nice patio with good ambiance. Service was not great.

Amazing food and even better service. First visited in 2019 and couldn't wait to go again-- treat yourself to the seafood tower, which has lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp, and more, plus a local beer or mixed drink. Our server Alexis was fabulous, warm and welcoming, and we had an absolute blast. read more

Do not go to this place. The wait staff is terrible. On March 22 during the odd heat wave, three friends and myself went to get supper and drinks. We were waiting for a patio table to open up when a waiter asked if we were looking for a patio table. He then told us that it would take a long while as "everyone just started eating". As I could see some people had finished plates, I mentioned there was one table in particular that looked like it would clear very soon. He then rudely said "well, they may have just finished but I still have to clean the table and then I'm going to sell them dessert" (in a very arrogant tone). I don't know what was worse, the fact that they didn't have any desire to seat us, or that they were so sure of their sales skills that they just knew they could continue to run up the bills of the current customers. read more

I hope you have a LOT of time on your hands if you plan to visit this establishment. It's a nice location, but they will first make you wait a long time to sit, then when they take you to your table, you will be quite shocked to see they have many many open tables, and lots of servers walking around with nothing to do. We ordered a simple salad, oysters and fish cakes. The oysters were good, the fish cakes tasted like a piece of bread, no flavor. The food took at least 45 minutes to arrive and the fish cakes were cold! When I asked a server for our check because we are now late for our tour, she said in a condescending tone "Is everything okay? You seem upset" Believe me, you'll do better on the boardwalk with a lobster roll from a shack. read more

If I had friends coming to town, I wouldn't recommend that they go to the Waterfront Warehouse for seafood. In fact, I did have friends in town from Toronto, and I made the mistake of taking them there. It was early June, not exactly off-season for a touristy restaurant, and the place was empty (this was late morning). Despite being the only customers, we unwisely decided to stay, because I kind of enjoy the kitschy decor. But our server (who looked terribly hung over, and in fact confessed to that later on) was mostly AWOL - couldn't be bothered to check on us. The food was embarrassingly bad, dry and flavourless (crab cakes and lobster rolls) with the exception of my Bouillabaisse, which was adequate, but no great shakes. Also, prices are too high given the quality of the food and the service. read more

Large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was a nice hot summer day, we decided to sit outdoors on these wooden tables that looked like picnic benches. You can't go wrong with the oyster sampler. The oysters are big and juicy, they were so so good. Nothing like the cheap happy hour oysters, these were 10 times better. We also had the bacon wrapped digby scallops. Anything wrapped in bacon is good, obviously. Also tried the artichoke and crab dip, which was good. Can't wait to come back! read more

Ate lunch today, the seafood tea was delicious. The broth was very good, the shrimp however was way over cooked and chewy. The oysters were excellent we ordered 2 and @$25 for 12 they better be! I visited Halifax recently and my friend and I had lunch at the waterfront warehouse. I lived in Halifax for years, even was a cook in another restaurant owned by the same group who own the warehouse, and I had never been in before! Long overdue. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic, and a bit awkward young man who took us to our seat. Small crowd in for lunch on a Wednesday. We both ordered the fish n chips. As far as decor goes, it looks like a waterfront warehouse, so, check in that department. The tables appeared to be made out of random driftwood, as none of them were even close to level, kind of strange, and the music was...just awful. I don't even know what genre it was, but not enjoyable. You would think some irish pub tunes or something more appropriate for the theme. All that aside, the food was amazing! We each got the biggest fillet of haddock I had ever seen, perfect crispy batter, tartar and slaw. The fries were good, but the fish stole the show! Overall good meal, even with the awkward music and staff. read more

Visiting family in Halifax wanted to try some fresh waterfront seafood. Our expectations fell short I'm afraid. We dined here one beautiful early evening on the patio. I ordered the crab cakes and the serving was surprisingly small, think appetizer but this was on the entree menu. No more than 2 ounces of food, I am not exaggerating. My husband had the lobster, said it was delicious but we were shocked to find the only food coming with this entree was a tiny portion of cole slaw, and maybe bread for both of us - I can't remember that for sure. Anyway, the lobster he said was delicious, fresh and well prepared but, now this is very strange - we paid over $100 for dinner and wine and both left this restaurant HUNGRY. That has never happened to us before. No we are not obese Americans! We are both runners and I'd say have average appetites. He was so hungry that he stopped at a food cart on the waterfront and ate a huge polish sausage with all the fixings and only then was he no longer starving. I just watched him eating but didn't join in but maybe I should have. We have visited Halifax since, did we stop to eat at the Warehouse again - No. Would I recommend? No read more

This was my second time here and going the second time i couldn't remember why i wasn't a fan of it, and now i remember! The whole time it took forever for our drinks and food. I ordered a cosmo, which was actually the best one i have had in a long time, my friend ordered a gin and tonic extra dirty and he said his wasn't very good at all. Our appetizer was the xl shrimp cocktail, which was really good (although how can you screw up on a shrimp cocktail) I ordered the fish and chips, which was actually huge and delish!, and he ordered the pasta bowl with all kinds of seafood, he said it was good but there wasn't any scallops in it. Overall paying $45 for my meal.. hurt a little. I could have gone up a street and got fish and chips with a drink for $20. read more

One of the main options to eat at the waterfront area in Halifax, it has a nice patio but it gets full in no time. You can see how they prepare the fresh seafood right in front of you as soon as you enter the dinning area. Portions are big, really big. We ordered calamari, that came prepared in a weird but delicious sauce, unique, I have eaten calamari many times and I have never seen them prepared like that before, but it was a good experience. The fish and chips costs 17$ but man it fills you up. I had problems finishing it and I am the kind of guy that manages pretty well to finish my plate. Disappointing and overpriced mediocre food. We should have realized that when there were only a few people in the restaurant on a busy Mooseheads hockey night. Left hungry like other reviewers. Wandering the along the pier, I wanted some seafood, so we stopped at the Waterfront Warehouse. We were seated in an almost empty restaurant at a table with dirty chairs. After wiping down the chairs ourselves, our waitress came and asked if we were ready to order. Never having been there, it would have been great if we would've gotten a spiel about their oyster bar, menu, or even restaurant. We ordered the appetizer and some drinks. After getting water, hubby looked at his glass and saw that it was dirty, I looked at my glass and saw lip print. I heard the next table ask for a new glass because their glass had lipstick on their glass. I asked for the bill and walked out, as I was walking out, I saw employees out in the dining room counting out their money. I would think that would be done behind the scene, not out in the open for everyone to see, just to be professional and for security purposes. Needless to say, this is not a place I'm going back. read more

If only it weren't for that giant parking lot all around... you almost can't beat the location! The food is good, the drinks selection is varied, and you're so very nearly on the Halifax waterfront! They have a big oyster bar if you hit the place on the right night, and service has always been friendly. I've been there 3 or 4 times now and always try to grab one of the booths on the edges of the main dining area, but I'd love to go back and try the darkly inviting lounge area you pass through when you first walk in. There are several different kinds of seating areas in the main dining room as well. From traditional booths to giant circular booths to the bar seating to standard dining room tables and chairs, you have your choice and except for an east coast music week event, I've never had a problem getting a table as this place is so big! The decorations are fantastic, wood, rope, nautical all around. A wonderful place for snack or a meal, and definitely a pint. read more

Everything was fine until I tried the ketchup with my 17$ one piece fish and chips. It was awful, and made the fries inedible. I asked why they do not serve brand name ketchup like Heinz or French's? After all, they serve Heinz malt vinegar. All I got was a blank stare, silence, and basically - " just leave me my tip" attitude. Listen waterfront warehouse - I knew enough to ask to be sat at a real table, not a picnic table, and I knew enough to go there in the first place for the oysters- they were fantastic. Do your customers a favour and decide what you are: if you are an upscale restaurant on the waterfront- evidenced by the 15 different kind of oysters and cloth napkins, then don't force your guests to sit at uncomfortable picnic tables and serve them crap ketchup. Decide what you are. And regardless, train your staff to take feedback properly. Will never go back. read more

Worst mussels I have ever had. Very disappointed in the food and service because it had been recommended by the Visitors Center and I had to travel to get to it.. I had wanted a lobster but the cost (over $70 for a 1 1/4 lb) was above my budget, so I had 12 of the smallest oysters I have ever seen for $32. and mussels for $13. The mussels were semi raw, cold and cooked in water - no taste. I had a beer which was $7 on the menu but I was charged $8. The service was bad. Maybe because I was alone I was not considered important, I was left while the large tables were pampered. I didn't even get bread at my table. I would not be doing this review if the mussels had been cooked and hopefully cooked in wine with spices, etc. They came tasteless in water with some shredded green peppers in the water. The meal cost me $70.90 and I cried on the way back to the boat. i felt sick from the raw mussels and I felt robbed and deceived. read more
