    Shaw's Lobster Roll
    Michael A.

Wonderful location, excellent food and great staff. Sat outside after a day of kayaking- I had the Shaws Lobster Roll and wife had the whole lobster. Both were some of the best we've ever had! And finished it off with the decadent carrot cake!

    Patio view

The food and service were very good. Started with the seafood chowder and then I had the 2 piece Halibut fish&chips and my wife had the lobster roll. We then shared a ginger bread for dessert. The view from the patio was perfect. I highly recommend if you're out towards Peggy's Cove.

Butter lobster roll and seafood chowder.

The food was delicious. Loved the lobster roll sautéed in butter-did not know that was even an option over the mayo based one. The seafood chowder was amazing! Large chunks of seafood and lobster. The fish and chips were also very moist and abundant and the chips were perfectly fried. Would recommend this to all. Very small restaurant and it was cold and so waited for an inside table but it was definitely worth it.

A gem in the Peggy's Cove area. Sit and watch the boats as you enjoy the bounties of the sea served here. start with the chowder... full of chunks of halibut, cod, lobster and potatoes in a creamy rich broth. Some of the best seafood chowder I have ever had. Everything else was delicious...the fish and chips and the halibut dinner. and of course...lobster and cold beer...'nuff said.

I recommend this location. The only reason I removed a star was because we were there for over an hour and a half before receiving the order. The lobster is really worth it! It was just a really long wait we saw people that arrived after us leave one after the other. Most people have ordered the lobster roll. Apparently, they are amazing. We have been jumping from one restorant to another. Trying to taste as many as we could. We did not want to over do it. We got the lobster $50 for the lobster and beer and the clam chowder. They have beer name the dark horse. It is really good and it has a cool name. The lobster was pack with meat. We went to a few place before this one and the lobster was empty. This was nice for a change. The chowder was ok, too much potatoes for me, but it was nice and creamy. It was a very long wait for us but the view is beautiful and we left with happy belly's.

Shaw's Landing is an amazing family owned restaurant near Peggy's Cove and a must-try. They often get compared to the Sou'Wester which is right at Peggy's Cove. However, I did my research and apparently Shaw's Landing is the place to go instead! Apparently, locals like to eat at Shaw's Landing given a similar menu to Sou'Wester but way more affordable. They are also only a ~5 minute drive away from Peggy's Cove! I ordered the Lobster Roll and Famous Chowder and they were excellent! The best Lobster Roll and Seafood Chowder I have ever had. The Lobster Roll was full of lobster meat (mostly shell meat) and it was delicious. The seafood chowder was simply amazing, full of lobster and fish, and you could really taste the seafood here. One thing to mention is the chowder is watery which I thought was interesting given most chowder's I have eaten tend to be quite thick and creamy but I assume this was done intentionally and did not take away from the experience - each spoonful was packed with flavour. The location is excellent, right by the water, parking is free and there is plenty of it. I really enjoyed their decoration which is about the nature of the area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating which makes it quite nice to eat by the sea when the weather is warm. Services is friendly and knowledgeable about the plates, A repeat for me whenever I am in the area!

We ordered the Fresh Steamed Lobster - Market price served with garlic butter, coleslaw and homemade potato salad Seafood Platter - a platter of haddock, baked shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, steamed mussels, with fries and coleslaw Seafood Chowder Overall, this restaurant offers high-quality seafood. The lobster was exceptionally fresh, and I especially enjoyed their homemade potato salad. The chowder was rich, creamy, and delicious, though it contained quite a lot of potatoes, something to keep in mind depending on how you like your chowder. Overlooking the lighthouse, at sunset. That moment alone made the meal unforgettable. And then the food landed. The lobster roll was everything I hoped for. But it was the seafood platter that really got me. The fish was perfectly done--crispy, golden batter with just the right heft. I always say, you can tell a good fish and chips from the first bite of the batter. This one passed with flying colours. But more than the food, this place teaches a masterclass in service. Peggy's Cove draws tourists from everywhere--different cultures, languages, expectations. I watched the staff handle it all with warmth and patience. Some customers barely spoke a word, but the team's kindness cut through it all. No tension, no stress--just people being good to other people. It reminded me: kindness is a universal language. Stick to that, and everything else falls into place. Thank you, Sou'Wester, for a meal that was not only delicious, but full of grace. You made our evening feel like something out of a storybook.

Finally made it to PC, took some pictures, and then figured we'd have a Lobster Roll from the food truck. Taste: Light mayo, nice discernible chunks, soft bun roll for $17.99CAD plus tax - around $20CAD. Some chips accompanying the roll. Fresh and tasty. They also have lobster congee / Jook / porridge for $7.99CAD plus tax. Ambiance: Near Peggy's Cove, waves hitting the rocks, truck on the side of the road, high stand-up and eat wood picnic table. Cars and tour busses passing you by while you chow down on a roll. Value: Going rate for about four ounces of lobster. Could have benefited with some more chips. If those don't appeal , there are a small number of standards like fish&chips, lobster roll, and poutine. My l'Acadie Fishcakes were made from salt fish (cod?) from Nova Scotia, expertly pan-fried. The portion was reasonable - though they were so good I could have eaten a third. They were served without a sauce (not needed), accompanied by house-made baked beans and marinated carrots. The sides were no afterthought either; the red beans were baked (not overbaked) in a flavorful sauce, and the carrots, thinly sliced, were sweet and tangy. The wife got the l'Acadie Meat Pie: a 1/4 portion of a round pie. The filling was the shredded meat, a blend of chicken, beef, and pork (!), seasoned with garlic and spices. This was inside what was described as a biscuit crust. Overall this was very good, not heavy like a meat pie can be, and not dry - but if you find it so there is the au jus gravy on the side. We didn't find it necessary. This pie was served with an excellent Caesar Salad. We split an order of Rappie Bites, which is a way to experience rappie pie in appetizer form. A filling made from grated potatoes and ground chicken, formed into golf-sized balls and deep fried. Interesting. I was expecting a firmer texture like a hush puppy which they resembled but the filling in these were soft and contained by the slightly crispy crust (of bread crumbs?) Unlike the bites which are always available, the pie is a specialty, available only on Sunday, and advance reservations are recommended to guarantee you can get it. I haven't had it in pie form and would maybe try it, but the meat pie was so good I might end up getting that again instead. I had a local cider to drink. Several local craft beers were available as well as wine. I don't remember if liquor was available. There were several desserts but we didn't try them. The only one specifically identified as Acadian was the Pouding Chômeur, described as a dumpling-like cake batter which caramelizes when baked, in a homemade maple sauce. Also ginger molasses cake, maple bread pudding, apple crisp, and strawberry shortcake - with the biscuits made in-house. As I am writing this they all sound so good I wish we had tried one - or more!

The lobster was rather corny in taste, they were not over cooked and pretty nice. The mussels they tasted like the standard grocery store ones- apparently from farmed source. The waiters and waitresses frequently visited to check on us and empty out buckets. The meal also came with two dessert options and self serve coffee/tea.
