The food is so good ! But the service and the coffee is so bad ! I've come here several times because the donuts are good, but the service is always bad. Today, for the first time, I ordered a coffee, and on my way to work, I had to go back because it was cold and didn't taste good. I told the person in charge, and she didn't say a word; she just walked away and gave me a receipt saying they would refund my money. I told her I just wanted a hot coffee that actually tasted like coffee, and she said that's how the machine is and there was nothing she could do. I wouldn't come back, not even for the food. I want to start by saying that the food at Karma Kolache is amazing. I've lived in the area for 3 years, and every time I have a craving for kolaches, this is the location I come to. The food quality has always been consistent, and their iced vanilla coffee used to be my absolute favorite. Unfortunately, the reason I can't give a higher rating is because of recent experiences with the staff and drink consistency. In the past few months, the iced vanilla coffee recipe has been very inconsistent--sometimes perfect, other times completely different from what I'm used to. This morning, I came in to grab breakfast for my boyfriend and myself. Three young women were working the front. When I received my coffee, I could immediately tell it was mostly coffee with very little milk--nothing like the drink I've enjoyed here before. Instead of asking for a full remake, I politely asked how many shots were in the latte. The cashier said "two," so I asked if they could make one with just one shot for a lighter, milkier taste. She went to the back and returned with (what I believe was) a shift lead in a blue shirt. Unfortunately, from there the interaction became very uncomfortable. She came out without greeting me and said, in a blunt and dismissive tone, "So if I make it with one shot, it won't taste good." I explained I understood but preferred it that way. She then insisted it didn't make sense and seemed irritated. Her approach was so hostile and intimidating that I began shaking. She eventually made the drink--but only filled the cup halfway. In the end, I paid full price for both coffees--one made incorrectly and another that was half-filled and not enjoyable. That interaction left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected, and it honestly made me reconsider coming back. My hope is that management can work on training staff not only on drink consistency but also on customer service and communication. The food is fantastic, and I'd love to keep supporting this business--but respectful service is just as important as great food. read more

This is our go-to place every time we're in town. Their kolaches are delicious! Our favorite is the Spicy Boudin -- it's so good and the right amount of spice! We usually go there early in the morning, grab a few kolaches and coffee. They have a good selection and varieties, including donuts and other pastries. We've received good customer service every time. It's spacious with a little waiting area towards the front of the store. I don't think you're meant to sit and eat there. I'm a small business owner so I wanted to support local but I was disappointed in the donuts I got. Went for the kronut based on the pics online and wanted to taste the difference on that and regular donut. No disrespect, but it was very basic. Didn't look flakey and fluffy like pics but instead was more like a dense plain donut. The apple fritter is flat like a pancake and not crispy at all, but was soft and almost uncooked, doughy tasting. And the cinnamon roll was literally dough rolled into a circle with light glaze. And unfortunately had no cinnamon flavor at all. This is my new favorite place to come for donuts and kolaches in Katy. In the past few months I've probably been here 10 times! If you are looking for kolaches, I would recommend either the brisket or sausage, jalapeño, & cheese. The brisket is tender and juicy, and it would even be a good order for lunch. The bread on all of their kolaches is always soft and fresh. You can never go wrong with their glazed donut holes. Other that that, I really like the chocolate iced cake donut. They have your classic kolaches, like sausage and jalapeño or the Norma ones you see at like Shipleys. But then they also have a huge selection of the "craft kolaches," you know those stuffed rounds ones I had a bacon egg and cheese round one and wow. Better than Kolache factory. They also have a huge selection of donuts, all sooooo good. I feel it's hard to come by a good donut, but they did well. The inside is super clean and actually looks pretty cool in there. I'll have to grab photos next time. They also have an espresso machine with a good selection of drinks!! This probably sound snobby to, but I love when they have a good chocolate milk selection for my kids. They had the organic chocolate milks and they even had Fairlife milk, which my kids love. Seating wise, there is only one table there when I went. They may get more seating now that the pandemic is over, but the table is pretty big if you did want to sit down inside. Starting with the plain glazed donut.. it is perfection. My wife was a shipleys glazed donut expert, however they changed their recipe and are now trash. Karma Kolache has taken that spot on top of the mountain for a perfect glazed donut. I initially came here for the kronut, which ends up playing second fiddle to the plain glaze.
