Excellent restaurant food is delicious. They do a great job with presentation and food seems fresh and well cooked. Slightly strange atmosphere as it is always all middle aged male staff but they are pleasant and attentive. May be cultural but I have never experienced that before. I ordered takeout at Karavalli on a weeknight and their online ordering platform was incredibly easy to use. When I showed up to pick up my order, the restaurant employee greeted me immediately and my order was waiting for me. I ordered the Mango Shrimp Curry and Kadhai Chicken, which has a little heat and is made with bell peppers, onions, ginger and tomato. I also got the Garlic Chili and Paneer Cheese Naan. I could eat Naan everyday, and Karavalli's was delicious. The Garlic Chili was spicy - you could taste the chili in every bite. Overall, the food was so good and their menu is awesome. I have been to Karavalli many times for their lunch buffet and always leave stuffed and happy. They have lots of veggie options so the buffet is perfect for vegetarians. They always have a few delightful chicken dishes as well. Every time I've gone, the place has been busy, and there is sometimes a line at the buffet but it moves quickly. This place is popular for a reason! The restaurant is on the smaller side but has a good number of tables. I came once for dinner and that was great as well. Karavelli has always been my favorite Indian restaurant in the Capital Region due to how consistently they deliver tantalizing flavors with great service at very reasonable prices. The mysore malasa dosa is delicious (not too spicy!) and my favorite go to meal is the chicken amwalla. Love Karavalli in Saratoga, and I've been wanting to try this one since I found out it had a brother/sister. Although they have different owners, they are very similar. In what ways you may ask? (Check out the other Karavalli review) For starters, the atmosphere is very welcoming as soon as you walk in. Customers are greeted and treated as more than mere customers. The feeling is that of being a greatly appreciated guest, and the service is the best. As for the food, you have to try it for yourself. The menu is extensive and the staff happily answers any questions. They also make substitutions for personal preferences. My coworker took me here when I was in town. Karavalli is amazing We ordered an appetizer and three dishes to split. Two were cauliflower based and the other was chickpea. Everything we ordered was delicious. The fresh naan with mango chutney was so good! The butter chicken here is a favorite of ours. As are all the meats prepared in the tandoor oven. You really can't go wrong with anything ordered here. We've yet to try a dish we didn't like! read more

Okay I am going to be really really honest, being a Pakistani and being a much better desi tipper, I was not treated very nicely. I had to ask them to come to my table so that we can get some free papadums. They just automatically think, as soon as they see a brown person that this person is going to ask for a million things, and not tip. But I do tip well, i am demanding, so I do want my onions and lemon etc lol. The food was amazing. Hands down the best Indian around this area. I have worked for Sitar for years and know what good Indian food should feel and taste like. Their tandoori wings are very much like the Sitar wings, yummmm yogurt turmeric, salt pepper n lemon marination, cooked to perfection. Chic tikka Masala could get better. Wish they used raw garlic chunks on their garlic naan, instead of minced garlic from the jar. Chai was very very good. Overall this place has my 4 points, possible 4.5, based on food. We always come here for lunch when we are in Albany, and try to time our Albany trips so we can do so (they are closed Tuesdays). This is a spacious, modern location with good service. The buffet is probably the best Indian buffet we have found. The various offerings are always distinctive and contrasting. Even on the buffet, the chicken tandoori is moist and srtongly flavorful, better than what you get off the menu at nearly all Inidan restaurants. read more

The restaurant has doubled I'm size, more spaced out with a newly added bar and looks q lot more better with the renovation. I believe the restaurant made good use of the lower customer volume during covid and expanding the space. With the expansion they can accommodate more customers like me who had to wait longer for the weekend buffett that could get frustrating sometimes. Coming to the food......the food was good but the have decrease in the varieties that was offered in the past. Overall one of the best Indian restaurants in the capital district. They do have another location in saratoga springs but I'm unsure if they offer the Buffet on the weekends. I have been to this restaurant at least ten times. The food and service is always excellent, for a reasonable price. Along with that the atmosphere is very warm. Today(Christmas Day) I visited with two good friends for the brunch all you can eat buffet. We had a 1230pm reservation. We left around 130PM. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and friendly, as always. There were endless options at the bar along with tasty desserts and fruits. This was a slam dunk 5 star review until the last moment when we were informed there were others waiting to take our table(translation: we would like you to leave now). We had just finished our dessert within the previous 5 minutes and paid 25.00 a person plus tax and tip. It is a holiday and we were enjoying ourselves. Honestly, we were on our way out within 5-10 minutes anyway. In all my years I have never experienced being rushed out of a restaurant. I understand they make their money on volume and need tables to turnover but you do not rush your customers out. It is not like we were just sitting there for 30 minutes hogging the table.There was also a bit of a line at the bar so it took 5-10 minutes to get your food. If management is overbooking reservations that is on them, not the customer. We just felt a bit disrespected and turned off at the end. 4 stars because of that. Was headed down to Latham Sunday to hit some shops we don't have here in southern Vermont and my husband joked, as I was leaving, "so we're having Indian for dinner?" I hadn't even thought of it (usually it's just when I am coming home from the airport). I ordered through yelp/grubhub as I was finishing my shopping and then headed over. I'd never tried Karavalli but it came highly recommended from a friend and she was right: it's awesome. As far as the takeout experience using yelp, it was easy to order and add a note (I always get takeout without napkins and whatnot to eliminate waste), ready right at the earliest moment it could be and REALLY well-packed. When I entered the space, which is very nice, I was greeted by a friendly host and then by the bartender who grabbed my order for me. The food was delicious and still hot when I got back home (about a 50-minute drive). The saag paneer is insanely fresh and had a nice amount of fresh ginger -- yummmmm. The chicken tikka masala was decadent and while I think it could have had a bit more chicken, it was delicious. We got the plain naan and it was chewy with a little crispness. You can order an 8 oz side of tamarind chutney. I did and have been putting it on literally everything. I will DEFINITELY make Karavalli a regular stop when making my trips to Latham for ulta/homegoods/michaels/target runs. I'd also like to try their Sunday brunch and to eat in the restaurant at some point! read more

For a slight up-charge their weekend buffet offers a few more options so it's quite nice if you are in the mood for more. I really like the overall cleanliness of the establishment and the zen feel. The staff is friendly and I am always ready for the basket of hot naan bread that is brought to the table once you are situated. The buffet station is always well kept and tidy so it never feels sloppy and skeevy. I also like that the salad and condiments and desserts are in their own little area so it's not lumped together with their hot foods. Speaking of hot foods, their vegetable options are delicious and not too spicy either. However the various spices that are used to make these intricate dishes definitely come through. I personally like their tandoori chicken as it's never dry and always seasoned to perfection. The house made chutneys go so nicely with the salad as well as with the basmati rice and main dish options. The finale and what I would consider my happy ending would have to be their fragrant and creamy rice pudding which really hits the spot and should not be missed. When I asked around for best Indian food in the capital region everyone pointed me to karavalli, so I had to come check it out. I came here for the weekend buffet ($15) .. which is quite worth especially if you are a party of 1-2. Buffets are a great way to sample as many dishes and all course. It was vey clean, food was hot... many varieties both veg and non veg ...tandoori appetizers, gravies, rice/biryani, idli vada sambar the salad bar had a variety of chutneys, cut fruits, raita, salad... and 3 desserts gulab jamoon, rice pudding, carrot halwa. I wish they had dosa and chaat. Service was great and quick. I would definitely comeback when I have a super appetite, but I love the ambiance more than the food. read more
