I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered here. Our family's favorite is the chicken tikka masala and masala fries. The rice is amazing!! Their customer service is also incredible!

I frequent this place regularly and they are still five star in my book…read more They consistently deliver on fresh authentic flavors along with great service and the ambiance here is just so zen. Go here to satisfy your craving for Indian food, whether you like mild to spicy flavors!

Lovely restaurant, very attentive waiters and everyone was extremely helpful. When they say hot,…read morethey DO mean "hot" as in Indian hot, not American hot. Forewarned is forearmed! The shrimp dish we had was excellent. Vegetable biryani had a nice mix of vegetables and rice - and if you judge an Indian restaurant in part by its rice, theirs is outstanding. We shared two lamb dishes and were disappointed in one. We'd hoped the lamb would be "falling apart", so soft it would melt in the mouth. Unfortunately, the small lamb pieces in the rogan josh were pretty chewy and somewhat unpleasant. The lamb kebabs however were nice and almost sweet, and we'd order them again. The dosa was marvelous and the chapati tasted fresh. The lassis are extremely sweet. Extremely. They can't be made less sweet, because they're made from a mix -- so if you're looking for authentic lassi, with fruit, yogurt, cardamom, etc, this is not your place. That was very disappointing since part of the restaurant's claim to fame is its authenticity. Our real quibble was when we were trying to decide on an extra appetizer, someone (perhaps the manager?) came over and asked about what we wanted. We asked about a few things and he said "Let me bring you something to taste - if you don't like it you don't have to pay for it." It was very large for an appetizer, and we each had a bite, but left most of it. Nevertheless, we were charged for it. Perhaps we needed to say "We didn't like it" but it was good - it was just much more expensive than we'd have chosen for an extra appetizer. The garlic naan by the way was good but a bit greasy. Still, good!

I had been dying to try this place, and it definitely lived up to the hype! It was much fancier…read moreinside than I expected, with a beautiful dining room and a really nice bar, but I still felt perfectly comfortable dressed casually. The food was phenomenal, and the service really stood out. Even though I already knew what I was ordering, our waiter took the time to explain each dish, which made the experience feel welcoming and approachable. The butter chicken was absolutely amazing...so aromatic, flavorful, and one of the best I've had. It is a bit more expensive and the portions are smaller than some of the other Indian restaurants in the Albany area, but the quality, atmosphere, and service make it well worth it for a special meal or an occasional treat.

I like this place best for Indian buffets in Albany(Latham) area. They have several cold side…read moresalads, fresh fruit, and at least 2 desserts normally. One is always rice pudding. Their lunch buffet (weekdays) is 14.95 and it always includes at least 1 meat on the buffet besides chicken, which I appreciate. Most Indian buffets are chicken dishes only. I find the seasonings used here to be pleasantly well done- it is never bland/lacking in flavor and it is also (when spicy) never overwhelming/too hot to enjoy. We're very fond of Indian buffets so have been looking in this area for a while; this is the best we've found so far. Attentive servers bring water and clear plates regularly. Restaurant is very clean and well run. Enjoy it!

Reviewing this spot again after nearly 4 years!…read more In my eyes, this spot has withstood the test of time. Maharaja still holds a dear place in my heart. The food is always exactly what I'm hoping for, and the service is always quick. I don't have to wait very long to get my food, and I always leave happy. My go-to is the Chicken Vindaloo. I have a pretty solid heat tolerance, and I don't recommend this to anyone that can't handle a bit of heat... I sometimes find myself sweating after this dish, but it is so worth it. My wife orders the Chicken Tikka Masala and it's also very delicious. I've tried a few chicken tikka masala dishes in the area (by extension of my wife) and this is my favorite. The sauce is a rich, buttery sauce that tastes amazing, and the chicken is always so tender. We share a helping of rice for the chicken tikka masala and vindaloo. It is plenty of food and we typically leave with leftovers (which reheat nicely). I do also love the copper-wear. Some of the appliances are getting a bit dented, and unfortunately the window in the front is cracked and I notice these small things, but the food is good enough for me to look past that.

Called and they gave us an answer that was different from the original. After speaking them for a second time and heard their excuses I was not happy at all. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in the capital district, will think twice before ordering from them in the future.

Done. It was an instant hit. I wanted the pastrami sandwich pictured on the website. Turns out, it was every bit as good as it looked. Probably the best I've had in the Capital Region. I think it came with coleslaw but they let me switch it for a small salad. The beer was cold. The server/ bartender was both friendly and efficient. The food came up relatively quickly. I was relieved and delighted. The tavern has just the right look. It's cute from the outside with nice signage. Inside, the lighting is dim-- especially at night--with the feel of a cool dive bar. If you want a more festive setting during the summer, there's outdoor seating complete with hanging string lights. That actually looked very inviting but my friends chose to stay indoors due to the threat of rain. As we prepared to leave, my friends were wondering why they hadn't been to the tavern before. One thing for sure is that we'll be back for more "good cheap eats" and great beer.

Or they'll have long conversations with a friend while other customers' glasses sit empty. And if you're seated at a table or booth, they may even forget you exist. This has been the case the last few times I've been, even when it was slow.
