Chicken seekh kabab was very tasty, baingan bharta was decent, chicken vindaloo was very bad. I won't even call it chicken vindaloo it was bland no taste the Curry's texture was wrong. Warning: delivery only review! This is my go-to place when I have the hankering for Indian food. They're pretty fast, and they give a substantial amount of food in both the entree and rice. Chicken Curry: This is a nice dish that you can specify to be spicy, and it's quite good. Sometimes, it can be a little greasy, but it usually it's quite good. Chicken TIkka Masala: If you want your typical, creamy and rich chicken curry, this is a pretty good dish. It's a sweeter tang than spicy, but it's quite good. Beef Curry: I tried this once, but I felt it was a little too greasy, and the flavor was a little vague, but I think it was swayed by the greasiness. I love their naan's and their different options. They're puffy and hot. I really like their plain naan, but I know my friends also enjoy the garlic naan and the jalapeno cheese naan. Amazing dinner. We had chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, and aloo gobi. Sides of naan and parata. The main dishes were INCREDIBLE. Intense flavors, meat perfectly cooked (not overdone), vegetables well cooked, amazing taste. Naan and parata were average. We were driving back from Portland, ME when a craving of Indian food suddenly and unapologetically hit us. Yelp brought us here and we enjoyed a delicious Indian / Pakistani buffet. Butter chicken, chickpea + spinach inspired dishes + naan, vegetable korma and more. The buffet featured a lot of choices for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Service was good. Water was refilled throughout. It would be nice if they cooked the naans to order rather than having them set out as part of the buffet (they get cold that way), but I'm just being nitpicky. I recently hosted an outdoor bridal shower for my best friend. I chose LaZeez Restaurant because the food came highly recommended by the bride. ALL of my interactions with the owner were professional. He responded with any changes as promptly as possible. Due to COVID there were restrictions and customizations that LaZeez handled well beyond my expectations. When the food arrived for the brunch time gathering every meal had been bagged individually, with the knife spoon and fork packed in each bag (30 bags!!!). Most importantly, every single person, even the pickiest of eaters among the guests, raved about the food. I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant/caterer our vent. Excited, we got in line and started to pile our plates filled with food. Our first bite in was okay, but then you can tell how watered down the curries was and the tikka masala as well. The whole time we were eating, the only thing I could think about was how good other Indian places were and how close they were. This used to be my favorite restaurant, until they served me rotten food, twice. The onion chutney was brown. I took a bite and it was absolutely rancid. I discreetly told them and they replaced it with more brown chutney and asked me to try it. It was still rancid. I can't believe they actually served me the same chutney. Oh so then I tell this to my friend and she was just here a week before and ordered take out and her chicken Tikka had a HALF EATEN PIECE OF NA'AN IN THE MIDDLE. They were very attentive and got us drinks the moment we walked through the door. We ordered so much and it was all excellent. - lamb vindaloo - chicken curry - some vegetarian chick pea and potato dish - naan and another fry type bread - a variety of meat and veggie appetizers - mango lassie - strawberry lassie They seemed a little afraid to serve us our food too spicy so they had us rate how hot we wanted it on a scale of 1-10 and said if it was to mild or too spicy to let them know. They seemed to really care about the quality of our meal. I think this is the best Indian place in town. I have been to curry house, Ghandi, Latham biryani many many times each and lazeez is the best by far. I would give five stars but I am still relatively new to Indian food. This place is near a friend's apartment and we were both craving Indian. Great. Each of their drinks, bowls, plates, etc. are served in metal. The metal cups keep the water ice cold, which is pretty cool, but it's also just a fun dining experience. You get big portions (as is traditional with Indian) and the prices are pretty good. Do you remember The Max on Saved By The Bell? Its where everyone hung out after class. During high school ('00) my friends and I would hit the Shalimar RIGHT after class, sometimes even during so I have an emotional attachment to the establishment as a whole. I came in here once for their lunch buffet. I found it very reasonably priced ($6.99, excluding drink) with a pretty decent selection of food to choose from. The palak paneer was my favorite. The chicken tikka was very good, the meat was white and free of fat or gristle. Their lunch buffet is Monday thru Friday, and I believe that they have a dinner buffet on the weekend. Parking isn't too terrible, if you're willing to pay for metered parking. You can park right in front, and if not, there's plenty of room across the street. Be careful when crossing Central Avenue. The atmosphere is nice, not too fancy. Comfortable spot. There seem to be a lot of regulars here, and the wait staff is very friendly. I love this place. Seriously, all-you-can-eat lunch buffet with free iced tea for $7? How much better can it get? I've had a couple groupons from here, so I've tried some of the a la carte dinner stuff as well, but I usually just go for the buffet. The owner (I think) is almost always there and very friendly and polite. Once during a crowded lunch a belligerent drunk man came into the restaurant (welcome to Albany) and he was very professional in dealing with the situation quickly. It's usually not too crowded, which is nice. The lunch buffet has salad, chickpea salad, sauces, etc. at the beginning. There's plain naan and usually another type to try (cheese naan, garlic naan, even coconut naan - yum!). They often have some fried vegetable/potato type things as an appetizer too. White rice plus biryani. Five entrees available, if I recall correctly. Usually 1-3 vegetable ones, 1-2 chicken, sometimes lamb. Chicken tikka masala is always available and always delicious. Chicken is tender, sauce is perfectly spiced. The other dishes rotate but I've liked all the ones I've tried. They have a sweet pudding available as a dessert as well, which is delicious (although I rarely remember to leave room). Only downfalls: Drink refills can be kind of slow - you may have to flag down someone and ask for it. Sometimes the dishes not kept over heat are cold, like naan and the onion fritters. I think this is probably because it tends to be fairly empty during the times I've come - usually later lunches. Best to keep an eye out for when they bring the food out, or just ask. read more
