A heteresexual random girl came for her first time accused me of giving her "the weird look", even when she's in a gay bar, and told me to "go away", just because the way I look, and the security personnel, when I asked for help, escorted me to the exit. That's exactly the kind of discrimination that we are trying to avoid, I was a regular customer, everyone knows me, and I used to pay really high checks in there, but it didn't matter, it seems that in this place sexism is against us. My fav dance club/gay bar! I can literally dance all night long at Karamba Nightclub. I've been coming here over 4 years and each night I had a great time. I would say they need a bigger female bathroom but other than that the drinks, music and staff are all great! If you're looking to host a birthday party/event, you can reserve a table by calling them beforehand. They also have an outdoor patio for your smoking needs. If you've never been here before I'd suggest to call beforehand, they sometimes have drag shows which you must see! Please keep in mind this is a gay bar. Cool Latin club to dance the night away. Or catch a legit drag show. Or just chat with your friends. Well...if you can hear anything. Just centrally located enough to remain accessible to all, Karamba is what intersectionality looks like in practice. It's not your run-of-the-mill gay bar, it's a gay bar for my Latinx homies to feel safer than they might surrounded by establishments filled with boisterous guys sporting country T-shirts and cowboy hats (You know the one). Since I'm out of the target audience, that I enjoyed my time here is totally fortunate. Of course, it helps that staff is totally groovy, and drinks are so inexpensive for a club that paying a cover feels like an act of fairness rather than a hindrance. On weekends from 2-4 am, it's an 18+ club as well. I haven't stayed late enough to see what becomes of Karamba that late (nor am I compelled to), but I'm sure somebody somewhere is enjoying it tons. Overall, it's a cool spot to hang out, and it's a bummer there aren't more establishments like this. read more

I remember back when it was called (Peacock). Yes i am an old fashion guy., lol. What I love about Karamba is: DJ guys, The good beat, The roomy dance floor, nice n clean, well kept for dancing :-) The Bartenders, have my fav. All security agents, because of them we have a safe n happy environment, love them all. They know who i am as i respect them. My partner wanted to go out tonight on a Saturday night 10/7/2023. We got there before the cover charge which starts at 10PM. I've heard reviews about the security guards but nothing extreme or bad came out of them. They let us in and told us the about the event that was going on. We were on their good side. Bartenders were nice and friendly. We finally sat down at a table and were waiting for the drag show to start. You better sit down fast because the club starts filling up especially during the weekends. We enjoyed the performances and the queens put on their show quite well. Fun atmosphere, crowded, and very good music. All in all we enjoyed the night together and will be coming back again sometime soon. The restrooms are tiny by the way. You will have to wait in line that's the only bad thing. They have a patio for smokers. Also, taco trucks are parked outside for your late night munchies. Back in business! Huge fan of this club. Love that they play all types of music and attract all types of people. Makes it more interesting, diverse and fun place for all to visit in town. I visited Phoenix for a work trip and found Karamba on a YELP suggestion. My friend and I showed up and were pleasantly surprised. The club itself doesn't offer any frills or anything, but the music was on point! It was upbeat, my body automatically started swaying to the beat; I was hooked. The bartenders are friendly and efficient and the crowd was opened and inviting. I had a really good time here. Didn't encounter any issues, my friend and I both agreed, we will be back. I work for a bar in downtown Phoenix, so I was extremely shocked to see they were charging for water, I'm baffled at this policy, and while you have a sign that says it's due to recent times and affordability and how they are sorry, I don't understand how something as basic as water is being charged, if it was a water bottle I would understand totally but a plastic cup with water that comes from the tap, they might as well let you bring in your own refillable water bottle so that way they don't charge for that small plastic cup if that's the case I'm extremely disappointed to see this place charge for water read more

I went here to have a fun night and dance with my friends. The music was fun and the crowd was great, but the security guard on the left side of the stage ruined our night. He asked one of my friends to stop vaping inside, which they did, and then he continued to stare at our group for no reason. After someone stumbled slightly because we were all dancing, he came into the crowd and very aggressively escorted all 6 of us out. He was very physical and pushed us out the door. Once we got outside we spoke with the bouncers/security guards and they were very cordial and didn't find us to be overly intoxicated or confrontational. They offered us to go back in but that one security guard kept looking at us and intimidating us to get out. For a place that champions itself as a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, it was very disappointing for this aggressive security guard to both target an drive away our group of gay people. It did not feel welcoming or fun at all. In the future we would rather go anywhere else than here while this aggressive security guard is still employed. read more

Had a great time at Karamba's! I went on a Saturday night where the music ranged from Top Hits to Spanish Pop to Techno music! Their was a cover charge of $5 for the night. They also stopped serving liquor around 2am, to allow the 18+ crowd in until 4am. They have 3 bars inside, a dance floor (with a very nice system of lights and strobes), 2 men's restrooms, a female restroom, and a patio (with lit up, mini trees and a water fountain). The crowd at Karamba's was a wide range of people (the female to male ratio was probably near even). I did not really talk to anyone except for the group I was with while here but some of the ones I did talk to acted like they were "god's gift" as one other reviewer put it. I also loved the amount of security and police presence they provide as it made me feel very safe! All of the security and the employees were very nice! Overall, I would be back! read more

Would be higher if it weren't for security. The vibes are alright once you're in, but believe the other reviews about the guards. I showed up with two friends and security immediately accused the guy of getting his girlfriend drunk because he threw out some empty shooters we had all done. What? Even if that was asked out of legitimate concern and not some chauvinistic bs, that seems like the quickest way to horrify an innocent person and escalate the situation with a guilty one. He then insinuated my other friend was too drunk despite only having a couple drinks and I mean, it was midnight at a nightclub. I lightheartedly said "nah, she's good to go in, yeah?" and he said I "need to learn to not speak unless spoken to." Is this the 1940s? Where women don't drink on their own volition and can be told to shut up? The same guard had the audacity to ask for hugs on the way out. Like bruh what business do you have asking a woman who is presumably too drunk, another whom you told to shut up, and a guy you accused of date rape for a hug? I went to this nightclub with my girlfriend after not even drinking for the "accepting" atmosphere and got turned away by the "security guard." He said I could go in but she couldn't. He was very disrespectful and rude after we told him she hasn't even been drinking but just wears glasses so he might have been mistaken. She is an active member of the military and happened to be in town to celebrate a special occasion and he turned her away after our other friends were already accepted into the club. The off duty actual Police Officers even said we were ok but didn't want to step on the toes of the security personnel working there. Thankfully there are plenty of other gay friendly actually accepting bars we will be able to go to in Phoenix as I will not be returning here. The first time I went to Karamba's it was for Pride. I went for after hours and it was amazing! I paid my $5 cover fee and went into what looked like an industrial style bar. There were tables being hung from the celing and there were also a backdoor to the outside patio as well as a the ladies restroom. When we went deeper into the club, the blue hued bar gave way to the deep red dance floor. There were tables for dancing on as well as a plush looking chill section. The dance floor was PACKED with men grinding up on men, with women griding up on women and the ocassional straight couple peppered into the crowd as well as a few large groups of women dancing together. Oddly enough there's often a lot of straight women who go there with their bffs so they can dance in peace. There's some chairs and more hanging tables surrounding the dance floor. Then there's the outside patio... there's a few water foutains and a ton of patio chairs, benches and tables. Sometimes it feels like the patio is where the real party is at! Since that weekend, I've been a regular there. I'm sure if you venture there for afterhours some Friday or Saturday night you'll see yours truely tearing it up on the dance floor to some of the hottest hip-hop and reggeton around! We LOVE Karamba and come to dance nearly every time we're in town. Nice music, crowd, atmosphere, bartenders, and beverages. Usually a $5 cover but that goes up for special events such as Pride. Tonight we were DISSSS...APPOINTED! They charged $10 because they had a Mariachi band on the patio...at a gay club...what are they thinking??? Interesting and entertaining (for a hot minute) perhaps but not a special event. I hope this isn't going to be a trend - club was emptier and I can see why. read more

Me and my fiancée' enjoy this club. Fridays are Latino night; until 2am when the 18+ plus comes in and they switch it up to Hip-hop/Top 40 Hits. Price range to get in is cheap! 5$ for a club??! I am all about cheap cover charge for a club; because usually I buy drinks all night. So this is a BIG plus. Saturdays are the BEST (in my opinion) 21+, mix of music (hip hop/ top 40, reggaeton and more) and good strong drinks. Some of the bartenders can be rude..so watch out!! Dance floor can get packed real quick, so you have to find a spot where its not too much drunk people and enough space to actually move around. Patio nice too but I dislike cigarettes so I go outside for some air and go right back inside for dancing Bathroom lines for girls are crazy LONG!!! Why do guys have a bigger bathroom than us gals?? We have 3 stalls, one sink and a small foggy mirror. I hate having to wait at least 15 mins in line just to get inside. Parking is a bit crowded; but you just have to park away from the club and walk. I don't mind walking though. read more

Being a heterosexual white female I was a bit hesitant to go because I've been shunned in the past at other places, but everyone here was extremely nice! Visiting Phoenix for the first time and went to Karamba because I like Latino boys and it seemed like a great place to go. I walked in and was overwhelmed with how amazing the place looked. Bartenders were super tentative and then the promoter came over and asked what type of music I would like to hear. Usually $5 cover on fridays and saturdays unless there's an event or performance, which would then be $10 cover. My favorite place to dance at on Saturdays. Music is usually very remixed spanish pop mixed with techno and top 40. There are two parking lots, one on the lot with the bar and the other is on the next street behind the liquor store. If you want a good drink, go to Raul. Guys have 2 restrooms and girls have 1. Girls, the line to get in the restroom is really long. Expect to be in line for 15+ minutes. Fridays and Saturdays allow 18 year olds and older after 2am. After 2 am the music becomes a little more hiphop/top40. Sundays are good for the drag show, usually latin lip syncs but drinks are a lot cheaper on sunday than saturday. Saturday a pitcher of beer is like $6.50 and sunday it's $3. Patio is decent sized, usually people are smoking or socializing. The walls have trees that are adorned with white lights. There's a water fountain in the middle that is either on or off. Taco truck outside of the bar on the weekends although I'm not a fan of the food at all. I recommend this place, but be wary that it attracts a lot of people who think they're god's gift. A lot of inflated egos and some aggressive personalities, but thankfully there is security all over and police at the door. read more

By far the worst gay nightclub in phoenix and trust me I know gay nightclubs!!! Lol no seriously this place is crap I have been suckered to come here a few times for a birthday party and some other events and it's no fun the drag show is lame or the acts I have seen are the Dj is good plays some different tunes the a/c is non existent I think they use a swamp cooler. The bathroom is the size of a toilet stall and always packed that u have to piss in the alley where there is plenty of hookers at your disposal. The drinks are expensive, watered down and even the soda tasted funny the bar tender was very nice and friendly. Never tried the food outside but I hear it's great, the parking is another disaster there is limited space and the night we went there was a few break ins in the back parking lot near liquor store.
