09.16.24: I just heard through the grapevine that there is a class action suit against Nu Towne saloon, and I really hope that it goes through because Michael is a terrible person and he is not very good as a manager of that place. I do love the staff that worked there, Joey, Mitchell all and even his husband Bill, but Michael is a pure piece of I'll leave it to your imagination July 2024:I truly love this place, but lately I'm not sure what is happening with the music and the Touch Tunes. When I check the TT it works fine, however when a group of us show up, it's turned off. Almost feel intentional, but I'm not sure. If you're coming to play music, I would shy away. Just my opinion, Update: 06.07.24: Came for Friday HH and the music system has changed. It is now AMI. I'm good with that, however once you sign up for it, the system won't let you play any music. It has been shut off from within playing 50's/60's music only. The TV system suggests to upload AMI and que your songs. You can't. Music is a huge piece of why we go to bars, and this will eventually keep me personally away. Maybe they don't care, it's okay. I can spend elsewhere, as will my friend. 06.16.24: So, once again there is an issue with the music. The owners, whom I care for installed a new music system AMI that offers video. I was personally playing a song that my friends were watching and the music is as interrupted by one owner without finishing the video. I said something to Michael and he stated they change it at 3:00 PM to his 80's music. I love 80's music, but why have a new system and we can't play it. I've downloaded my stars to one, for I can't do any lower. read more

Some of the bartenders claim they are heterosexual and chase after more gay men then the gays...maybe it's the.money being thrown at him but he doesn't acknowledge other African Americans and will not wait on us. The new management/owners are supper friendly but employee Z needs to be shown the door. Ron and Scott are the best people/bartenders there and now there are some new workers who still look past you instead of saying we will be right with you. As being a regular and spend so.much money on music and brews 60+ a night on some cases i would like.a bit more respect especially when the back.patio is as segregated as a prison yard. There are also.some very alienating regulars and some are darn right discriminatory...also a criminal element at 11pm . The sign on the door says something about expect warm beer and bad service, and they did not disappoint. I was there late on a Thursday afternoon and the only patron in the bar. The bartender, who must rely only on good looks rather than personality or bartending skills, spent their entire time texting on their phone. The apparent "new owner" came in a walked by several times without so much as a "hello." I attempted to make light conversation a couple of times only to get the minimal responses in return. Not friendly, not welcoming, and not worth going back again. But then I guess I was warned by the sign on the door. Congratulations, you win! I went to this place twice during a recent visit to Phoenix. The first time was 5:00 on a Wednesday before a friend flew out of PHX. They were having a 2 for $5 deal, for which my friend's ginger whiskey qualified. I didn't get a taste but she reported the drink was super strong after every sip. I believed her. I'm 32 and I was, I think, the youngest person in this bar, but there were only about 5 other people. The second visit was at 11 pm on Friday. A diverse crowd--mostly men--rendered me no longer the youngest in the bar. They had a super handsome DJ playing, and he had quite the playlist going over throw back jams as well as some newer stuff. The bar wasn't full so it was easy to hold a conversation. I love the garage-themed decor; a bartender told me the license plate collection has grown over the years from customer contributions. If I make it back I'm hoping to make a contribution. read more
