Stopped by for a late lunch…read more Open floor. No one was there seated, but it was around 2pm on a Friday. We were led to a table against the wall. Waiter was friendly and gave us some time to make our selections. I chose the egg roll, tangerine beef. Hubby chose the orange chicken. I asked the waiter if the soda came in a can. He said yes. We then waited for our meal. He returned quickly with my soda, in a glass with lots of ice. Not what I expected. But I guess I wasn't specific about my drink order. My egg roll was good. Cut decoratively in half at an angle, piping hot. Our food arrived shortly. Both plates were generous and came with white rice. Cut a portion in small pieces to taste with rice. Tasted so good, burned my tongue a little it was so hot. Ate a bit more, and that's when my mouth started burning up! The dish was a little more spicy than I expected. Tried to eat more, but it was too much for me. My hubby on the other hand was in his glory. He Loves heat. The spiciest the better. He tried mine and said it was just as spicy as his, which he loved. So, I just thought we would take mine home for him to enjoy later. I have to say it was good, before I had to cry uncle. So would definitely have to return for another try and let them know I can't take the spiciness. I did notice that the restaurant was busy with takeout orders. So I guess that's their main business. So I wouldn't say this was a cozy place. But the food is good. Lots of parking outside since they're next to a supermarket and liquor store. There weren't any 'lunch' specials, so this was over $50 with tip. By the way, lots to choose from the menu. I only took pictures of some pages.

I got the Pho with duck, and my wife got the crispy duck dinner. Both dishes were "meh" at best. Below average. As far as service... it was harried and we were only one of two couples eating in this "NOT so cozy" restaurant. We went at 5:30 expecting to wait because it was small and "cozy" and it was Chinese New year. (1) no problem eating in during dinner hours (2) not a stitch of celebratory anything for Chinese New Year.. not even a place mat. No chinese noodles at the table and there was one continuous plain bench and brown tables (no table cloths) on the opposite side aka cafe style and cafeteria style seats. Hardly "cozy" at all. Overall high expectations, below average experience, ambiance and food.

The Tyger Visited The Tyger NYC for a girls night out and…read morehonestly, everything was delicious. We made reservations and were seated within about 5 minutes of walking in. I was actually caught off guard by how much I enjoyed the food because I had seen so many mixed reviews online about several of the dishes we ended up ordering. Most of the menu is tapas/small plates meant for sharing family style, which I personally love for group dinners because everyone gets to try a little bit of everything. The ambiance was great. The restaurant had a really cozy, lively atmosphere, and our waitress was so sweet and relatable. She even moved us to another table once some seats deeper into the restaurant opened up because we were originally sitting near the entrance and every time the door opened, freezing cold air would hit us Small gesture, but very appreciated. Now for the food, The Charred Octopus with ginger and watermelon was DELICIOUS and probably my favorite dish of the night. The salty octopus paired with the sweetness of the watermelon was genuinely mind blowing. The octopus was also soft and tender. The Grilled Beef Sirloin Saté Skewers were good and tender. I liked the sauce they the skewers were brushed with. The Phnom Penh Fried Chicken completely surprised me. The chicken itself had so much flavor already, and then the sauce gave it an extra punch. Definitely one of the standout dishes of the night. The Stir Fried Water Spinach was very good and honestly acted as a little palate cleanser in between all the heavier dishes. The "Crying Tyger" Grilled Sirloin Steak was soft, tender, and cooked really well, it was okay flavor wise, but the cut of meat was amazing. The Crispy Lamb Ribs were also delicious and VERY soft. The only dish that fell slightly short for me was the Singaporean Chili Crab Fried Rice. It wasn't bad at all, and there were nice pieces of lump crab throughout, but compared to how amazing everything else was, this was the one dish I probably wouldn't reorder next time. I'd rather use that spot to try something else on the menu. I ordered the Furnace Bright cocktail since they're also known for cocktails, and that drink was really good too. But we loved it here so much that we've officially made The Tyger our designated girls night out dinner spot Everything was delicious.
