I've been to Xay's Danbury at least 3 or 4 times. What sets them an apart from all Thai restaurants…read morein Connecticut is the freshness of their ingredients and the tastefulness of their dishes. Admittedly I've never tried their Thai curries so I can't comment. My first trip here was to try the Pho. It was good, but it was on subsequent trips that I explored their Yums. Today I had Nam Khou which was crunchy rice, scallions, cilantro, and Laos sausage pieces served with romaine lettuce leaves on the side of the plate. I took that to mean I should scoop some of the dish into each leaf and it was delightful. While it is supposed to be two peppers hot, according to the menu, it was not but it was very flavorful nonetheless. You can always scoop some black chilli oil on top as they graciously keep condiments at each table. I also tried the summer rolls again. Now my favourite summer rolls used to be the ones in West Hartford with crispy pork and shrimp in them. However, I will say just the plain shrimp ones were wonderful. One nice touches they provide a little espresso spoon in the peanut sauce so you can scoop it's on top of each bite without having to dip and have it fall apart. The CREW was kind of quiet today but I came in mid afternoon so they were catching up on other stuff. However, the service was still great. I almost hate leaving this review because this is like my private spot that no one knows about. That's about to change.

Waiter immediately comes over to get our drinks order. When he returned, asked for egg rolls as appetizer. Then we ordered Pad see ew and Beef Kao pad. Egg rolls were so good! Four were perfect as an appetizer. The beef pad see ew was so good too. Had so much, enough for dinner later on. Hubby enjoyed his Kao pad. Almost finished it! Really enjoyed the food. During this time, two more couples arrived. And although we were done, they didn't come by to find out how we were doing. It seemed a little odd, but we patiently waited. Overall, would definitely return because the food was really good. The service, could be better.

So, this the more romantic approach for this review…read more My date and I LOVE sushi, so she suggested Bambu. I've had Bambu before but only from takeout. This time it was to meet with a first date. I walked in and instantly I fell for the entryway. Modern but also had the feeling of nature with the rocky wall and relaxed entrance. My date arrived and we were seated near the bar. The waitress came and took our drink order: a scorpion bowl for two. It came out fast and was very tasty. Warning: the bartender KNOWS how to make a scorpion bowl that doesn't have the alcohol taste or burn. It was very well made and we both enjoyed that. We ordered a lot of sushi... but none of it had rice. Sashimi deluxe, sashimi roll, Naruto roll. The food came fast, the presentation was excellent, but most importantly, EVERYTHING was delicious and fresh. We ate our dinner while also talking and having some laughs, both of us happy about the experience altogether. They lit the fire in the fireplace (the temperature was dropping and it was also very windy), and it got warm FAST. The sushi stayed cold, so it was perfect. We went to the bar for some hot sake, and the bartender (the same guy that made the scorpion bowl), was great. He was quick with making sure things were set and was conversing with us. Bartenders do a lot, but he was able to chat and still do his job quickly. All in all Bambu helped us have the perfect first date, one that I will NEVER forget! We will definitely come back again!
