I was visiting clients downstate, and I brought along my 14-year-old daughter for company. I was in the mood for a kosher meal. I did not have any idea where to go, so I looked to Yelp and found Kosher Castle. I was shocked by the outside of the building. It looked like an abandoned former Burger King. I did not think there was an active business inside. There was no signage indicating where the entrance was. The entire building was filthy when we finally figured out how to get inside it matched the outside of the building. It was not clean. There is no one there to greet you except for several unhappy workers behind the counter, who process the order. It turns out, it was a former Burger King! Whoever moved into this building didn't do one thing to improve its appearance. It was horrible and dirty. You could still see the Burger King decals on the windows. Like a fast food restaurant, there are several interactive stations where you order your food, and pay. The graphics, the selection, and the ease of ordering, brightened my outlook. There were dozens of choices. The accompanying photos and descriptions were extremely helpful. I ordered a Thursday night special, which was a pastrami sandwich on a baguette, with pickles and coleslaw, accompanied by a portion of Cholent. I also ordered as a side, some Kishka with gravy. My daughter did not feel well and did not want to eat anything. We were given a number on the receipt and we sat on the side. There was only one table of about eight sisters, and a couple of gentlemen who were seated at separate tables. The presentation was exactly like that of a fast food restaurant. Everything was in plastic containers, which were marked clearly, as to contents. It was a fair pastrami sandwich. Slightly greasy from the microwave oven they used to heat it up. There was not a lot of pastrami. I thought the coleslaw was delicious and the pickles were good. The Cholent was the best I've ever eaten. I was surprised by the quality of the food. It came out relatively fast, but again this is a fast food restaurant. I would go back there to eat if I had to, and nothing else was open, because of the food quality, and the huge variety of choices. I did not think the pricing was outrageous at all. $19 for the special and $5 for the Kishka. But the building on the outside is an embarrassment. The inside is not much better. The staffs behavior was odd. No one was particularly helpful, and no one looked happy at all. There was some thing off. As we were leaving a young man in a Yarmulke came in,and was talking to the "Manager". I couldn't help but overhear. There was an issue about "Dinero" so maybe that's why people were unhappy. They weren't getting paid. Either way, I didn't need to hear it, however it helped explain the disregard for the appearance of the restaurant, as well as the staff, and the customers. Kosher Castle provided the food for our office holiday party: giant grinders, sesame chicken, mongolian beef, latkes, rice, mini egg rolls, salads, rugelach (did I even spell that right?), chicken wings, pigs in a blanket (well not pigs, but I can't call them franks in a blanket...can you tell I'm not Jewish?) I tried a little of everything and can honestly say not a single thing was even mildly disappointing, and everyone else seemed to like the food too. (One of my coworkers is obsessed with their caesar dressing. I liked the taco salad dressing.) I was involved in the unboxing of the food delivery and I must say they included everything in terms of utensils, etc. It was quite impressive. Everything was packaged very neatly too...and the Mongolian Beef trays which leaked their juices were wrapped in plastic bags so that the juices wouldn't get all over the rest of the trays of food in the box. Jewish and non Jewish alike can't miss this spot located on a main thoroughfare of Monsey. Let's forgo the ambiance because there really is none to be quite frank, however it still is a decent place to stop for what's considered fast food eats with a mix of traditional fare thrown in the mix. Ordered their matzoh ball soup and made to order dark meat fried chicken and fries. Pricing is actually decent for Kosher eats and food is fairly quickly prepared as well. Chicken was perfectly fried to a golden crisp as were the french fries piping hot and crunchy. I must say usually I don't usually expect the chicken soup at establishments like this to really be tasty but I was wrong here, rich and flavorful and the ball didn't taste like it was freezer burned like other places I've had them at. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I ordered a burger the first bite I felt like I ate something hard and dry. When I took a look I saw a toothpick underneath the bun holding the pickle tomato together I hope I don't need to go to the emergency room. Get past the fact but this was an old 80s Burger King that has never been updated since and focus on the food you'll be greatly surprised the ingredients for all fresh I'm different workstations make them in front of youmy daughter got a grilled chicken on a pita with a limited options on the salad bar to put in that she chose herself. I got the fried chicken which was fresh and hot out of the dryer with a mass amount of fries. Whenever driving through Monsey you cannot help but notice the huge sign that says "Kosher Castle" right as you enter town. Obviously this is done as a take on White Castle, but the location is a former Burger King. To my the funniest part was that they didn't even bother to change the doors so as you walk in the door still has the old Burger King logo on it. As I stepped up to the counter during my first visit I was kind of over whelmed by the menu choices. I was expecting it to be very basic, however it was far from it. This place is more than just a burger place; they have any type of food you could imagine, including Chinese. Since I was planning on just getting a burger I decided to stick with it. I placed my order for a plain burger and a side of fries, my girlfriend too ordered a burger with fries. For both of them together it came out to $16 which I thought was pretty good for a kosher place. While waiting for the food to be ready I walked over to the hand washing station, grabbed a little piece of bread they had there and awaited my food. Within a couple of minutes the meal was ready and I consumed probably the best burger I have had in a long time. Maybe its because I don't often get to have a burger not cooked at home, or maybe it because it was the fact that I was in a kosher fast food place. The name alone makes this place a must-eat-at restaurant. We stopped in on a whim, marveling at the old Burger King facade-turned Kosher haven for those seeking a meat meal. This restaurant is quick, and it has everything: Chinese, falafel, schwarma, salad, burgers, fries, chicken, schnitzel. There isn't a single thing you can't get here, except maybe a milk shake. I opted for the Mad Burger with a side of fries. After a delightful experience in Israel with a "spicy burger," I decided the Mad Burger would likely be comparable. The food took a few minutes to come up, but man was it worth it. I'm not sure if it's because I haven't had a hamburger since going kosher, or if it's because it was just that good. But this burger gets 10 out of 10 stars, hands down. The burger was meaty and delicious and the spicy paste was plentiful. The fries were crinkle cut and cooked just right, too. This restaurant sports all the things you need for kosher cuisine -- a washing station, benschers, and plenty of frum Jewish families. I can't wait to go back here and get another Mad Burger. Although pricey, the food is very good, the service is quick and I like that they just added a shawarma and falafel counter. Their fries are crunchy and skinny, the pastrami is juicy and fatty, and their burgers and steak sandwiches are great. The best deal in the place is the laffa of falafel which came out to a cheap $7 and it included all the salads I could pack into it. Kosher Castle is open pretty late and is the best place for people and family watching in Monsey. read more

And the price is there to prove it. At a whopping +30-50% price difference with its local competitors--and on some items much, much more--a quality standard of -10 and customer service--where the dumb, blond high-school-dropout chews his cud as he "serves" you with the classic, stinking attitude that Kosher Castle is known for--that can only be described as abominable, this place is the sucker's haven, where a belligerent owner and staff are there to let you know: YOU'VE BEEN HAD. Now: you can avoid going there. Chickies, Nussy's, Mechel's, Monsey Barbecue, and even Getty on the Hill offer better fare for better prices with better service. But word is out that Monsey folks like the shiv, so Kosher Castle still remains open for business for the local sucker whose taste-buds never actually developed. So next time you have $70 or $80 to piss away on a mediocre dinner (dinner for one, that is; don't bring a date here if you think you wanna continue dating this woman; don't bring a business associate if you wanna close a deal successfully and don't try working another diner into your budget, unless you're clear for a new mortgage on your old jalopy,) hop on by the Kosher Castle and rest assured: Good Samaritan Hospital is only 10 miles away, due west on Rt. 59. My wife and I went here as a result of an absolute disaster at another place. While Kosher Castle is not fancy the food is delicious and fairly priced. The service is excellent and friendly and Yankel the owner genuinely seems to care about customer satisfaction. With the wide variety of options this place will satisfy all in the family. I usually have the Shwarma however this visit I had the Mongolian Beef for the first time and really liked it. The hot and sour soup is a regular item by me and will continue to be so. The atmosphere is not conducive for a date night but every time we go in we seem to meet people to be friends with. I love this place! Btw I do NOT work here. Lol read more

This is the type of place that you'll simultaneously enjoy and regret eating at, at the same time. The usual rule is to stay away from places that offer Chinese food, Western food and Middle Eastern food - all on the same menu, however, this place seems to manage all three - they even have a separate, stand-alone counter for shwarma. No one is under any illusion that the food here is healthy. It's not. It's greasy and deep fried. However, you can enjoy a pretty satisfying and reasonably priced kosher meal if you order the right things. read more

There food taste like cheap food, and it's very expansive a small plate of sesame chicken runs about $21, and it's mainly dough no chicken. They are extremely cheep as well they won't refund if they make a mistake they will give you store credit. As a Jew, I'm always amazed by how much different sects of Judaism vary. In any case, going to Kosher Castle was certainly an adventure. It looks like they converted a 1980s-era McDonalds. There's a selection of deli-type stuff, Israeli items (such as Israeli salad, which I rarely see at restaurants), and Kosher Chinese food. It's not super cheap, but it's affordable. And you might get to see a guy with a huge beard sitting out in the dining room, examining heads of lettuce meticulously with an enormous magnifying glass. read more

The good thing about Kosher Castle is the food is consistently tasty and their service is fast. It's a great place when you need a no nonsense meal. The menu is pretty diverse -- has Chinese, Mexican, Israeli, and other dishes. Prices are only a little more than what you pay at the grocery deli; figure about 30-40 for a family of 4. Portions are big, so plan to split. Overall a good place when you're not in the mood of cooking at home but want to stay within a budget. read more

If they would be a little better with cleaning and making their place look more representable I would give it probably 5 stars! This is by far the best kosher fast-food place in rockland county(although that isn't saying much). I've eaten here many, many times and each time i try something different and each time I'm pleasantly surprised by how delicious every dish is. They offer a variety of dishes ranging from the good all-american hot dog/burger (which are both fantastic) to a wide variety of israeli-style shwarma and falafel options and on to a full menu of chinese dishes(try the spicy beef!). The employees are courteous(enough) and efficient and the food is ready within a couple of minutes. Kosher Castle is my preferred dining choice in Monsey area. There is a large selection of burgers, Chinese, Isreali, salads, and grill items, so it doesn't get bored. The prices are moderate and the portions huge, a big plus when dining out with the family. Food is served quick. Very tasty for the price.
