I would NOT recommend this company. My entertainment center was damaged when the movers got it stuck in the stairwell leading up to my apartment. There is a large gash and hole in the stairwell where they repeatedly tried to force the entertainment center free. I also had to clean up after they left as there was debris left in the stairwell. Even though the movers stopped the clock and acknowledged the damage, there was no compensation offered for damages. In addition to that, the furniture was drenched in sweat. On the bright side, they were able to accommodate my move with short notice. They all worked hard including my son who helped dislodge and lift the entertainment over the railing. read more

I had a great moving experience with Kama'aina movers. They showed up on time with and 2 extra movers at no additional charge just to get the job done as quickly and effectively as possible. They got all my furniture moved out of my old Waikiki unit and into my new Ward village unit in just a hour and a half. Service was great and they charge a flat rate which kept cost and labor fair. After my experience with this moving company, I couldn't figure out where all these five star ratings came from. The day of my move, the movers arrived an hour late. The time was a problem as I was scheduled to move into my new place at a specific time. I ended up moving a lot of my own things into the moving truck as 2 of the 3 guys quit moving anything about an hour into the job. Two of my new pieces of furniture were damaged, with acknowledgement by one of the movers. I wouldn't feel comfortable using this company again if I needed everything to arrive at the other end in one piece in a timely manner. read more

I am very, very impressed with these guys! They are extremely hard workers who don't seem to get tired, even after hours of heavy lifting. I used them twice already and both times the move went smoothly, quickly, and with no damaged items. They were very patient and professional, and didn't seem to get bothered when they had to disassemble certain items because they wouldn't fit through the doorways. They were willing to make several stops to deliver items to a few different locations (even a piano) and had no problem driving longer distances (Kailua to Kaneohe to Mililani to Wahiawa all in a day's trip!) The rate they charge is extremely affordable, I gave them a big tip just because I felt they deserved it. I used the two-man team (Dwayne and Danny) and couldn't be happier with their service. Have bottled water on hand for them! They work so hard I think they sometimes forget to stop and rest... they never even took a break once! These guys are incredible!!! read more

I had a great experience with these guys. They showed up on time ready to go and were always working. I was lucky and they had a 4th person with them but I was only charged for the 3-person rate. Additionally, they got a little lost on the way to our place and deducted that time from our bill. My wife and I priced out Island Movers and would have been charged 3 times what Kama'aina charged us for the same service so we were definitely glad we made the choice we did. read more

these guys were amazing. i was a little worried renting some movers to help me move from ewa to north shore area and thought it would take a long time with the whole aloha attitude--- man was I wrong. The owner of the place, Bruce, really pushes his workers to work at an extremely fast pace. Anytime they tried to talk he would say "hurry up, waiting on you" or something similar--which is great to see when youre paying hourly. They also somehow fit all of our stuff securely into one truck and unloaded it all under an hour. I left a review of another moving company not too long ago, like 6 months ago. And we had to move again due to my husband's work!! This time, I knew I wanted to go with Kama'aina Movers because my co-worker had a great experience with them. (plus I decided to go with a local company next time :p) And the result is...they are the best ever! They are professional, hard working, punctual, fast, and reasonable. What else can you ask for? Our move took 5 hours with 3 men but the cost was almost the same as previous moving company with 2 men. I am impressed! What I like about them the most is they wrap your fragile and furniture with the plastic sheet, which I appreciated a lot. Why I am not giving them 5 stars is because they did not wrap my favorite dinning table for some reason and left a very noticable scratch on the table top. That's just too bad as they wrapped almost everything else. My only regret is that we didn't ask for hanger boxes. (the ones you can hang your clothes so you don't have take them out of hangers) I am not sure if they even had them, but we should have asked as it could have been a big time saver. (later we moved them ourselves) Anyhow, I am very happy with their work and will recommend them to anyone. We used Kama'aina Movers about a year ago, and we asked them again to move back to the main land this time. Normally, I am kind of afraid of stranger coming to my house, but after using them last year, I was very comfortable asking them to come back to help us loading. The owner Dwayne did not show up this time, but Big Mike (there are two Mikes) managed everything perfectly. 3 guys including the big Mike came and they did not even take a break and I had to really insist them to take a break. I remember the big Mike came last year also, and he without even me asking him, he not only loaded stuff into our place, but nicely organized things as he loaded our stuffs so that I can work on them easier and make the room look better. All 3 guys came today were really polite and comfortable to be around, and such a hard workers!! Both times, they were on time. Well, everything started off great! However, I was told that they would come out and give me an estimate because they were "in my area" around the requested time. I rushed home for a no-show. I have to admit I'm very impress with Kama'aina Movers. In this case Yelpers don't lie! Usually some places get awesome ratings but when you go their they are just alright not that amazing as some people describe it to be. But this company for movers are by far the best. It was very difficult to find someone you can trust moving your things without anything breaking especially when you have electronics . These people were extremely professional and efficient. It only took two strong men and 3hrs to move more than 20 boxes, including the disassembling and assembling the heavy Tempurpedic bed. They also moved the sofa and TV is PERFECT condition with no scratches. The cost to move everything was about $300...which is so worth the stress of moving. Don't forget to tip for their hard work! These guys are awesome. They are professional, courteous, and treat your stuff like their own. Dwayne, the owner is very accommodating with scheduling changes. The movers themselves did a quick job of moving all of my 3 bedrooms in a couple of hours. When the fridge did not fit in the kitchen, they had the tools and knowledge to take the doors off, move it through the door, then reattach them as they were. The guys packed my POD to the rim and fit everything perfectly. Seriously, I don't think I could have fit everything in there if it weren't for these guys. Second time using kama'aina movers. They're so incredibly professional, efficient, and take excellent care if your items. Always prompt, and great with communication. They shrink wrap and use blankets to protect everything that are prone scratches and dinks. I particularly love how they disassembled my bed and reassembled it back to my new home. I also appreciate how they don't charge extra for shrink wrap, gas, etc; just a simple hourly fee. I definitely recommend them to anyone, and plan to use them again in the future! read more

They have the best reviews for movers on Yelp, and for good reason. The two guys (forgot names) showed up early at my storage facility, were very good about handling everything w/ care, and did everything at a brisk pace (important since you pay per hour). To clean out and move everything from a 10 x 9 unit from Storequest (Kalakaua & King) including a queen size bed and frame, love seat, and sofa, and to unload at my house in Kahaluu, it took in a amazingly 2 hours ($90 hr x 2 + tip). KM is well worth it! Makes a whole lot of sense to hire KM than a UHaul w/out the manpower. read more

OMG these guys were amazing. I called about a month in advance to schedule our move, so we got the exact date and time we wanted. Good thing, because a few weeks later they were so booked up they stopped taking calls for a few weeks! I even had to adjust my moving date out by 1 week, and somehow that turned out to be ok. Dwayne was so informative, giving me all kinds of tips to make the move go smoothly. (I took his advice by packing as much as we could, and he was so right!) Dwayne also advised I call them the day before to confirm our appointment, and that went without incident too. He told us they would be at our home at 8:00 am, and they were there on the dot. They called from the driveway to say they had arrived, too - guess you never know if someone will still be in their PJs at 8:00 am! :) There were 5 guys and 2 trucks and they were all super courteous, amazingly efficient, and full of good advice. Seriously! It took them 2 hours to pack up a bunch of furniture and not as many boxes as I would have liked (you try motivating 3 kids to pack after school every day! =| ), which they drove out to our new place and unloaded with the same degree of efficiency. Kamaaina Movers takes cash or credit (no checks), but if you pay with credit there is a small fee. (OK, if you are spending $2,000 to move yourself and your family, a $25 fee to use your credit card is like a drop in the bucket, so don't complain.) They couldn't put our beds together because we were doing a bunch of renovation work, so when I realized they had left a couple of moving blankets I called them and Dwayne came that day to pick them up. We have a bunch more boxes to move so we'll be calling them back, but I have every confidence things will go just as smoothly the second time around! And BTW? Their quote was right on the money - and very reasonable. So pick Kamaaina Movers if you want movers who are punctual, courteous, and professional - all things that will allow you to get on with your day with a minimum of fuss! read more

This company was HIGHLY recommended by my friends, I recently got foot surgery and can only do so much. So i gave it a shot. They came over, i showed them what needed to be moved and no lie in a blink of an eye my place was cleared out! They had to move 3 industrial sewing machines each about 300+ lbs and they knocked it out of the park, no scratches, dents, dings NOTHING! Guys where super chill and super professional. We had a LOT of stuff in our 3 bedroom/2 bath home, so requested 3 guys to make sure it went quickly. And it did! They called nearly 2 hours early asking if they could start early. Sure! They arrived, called Dwayne to start 'the clock' and they set about getting to work. They work hard and they don't take breaks until they're done. Within 5 hours they were loaded, moved, and unloaded. No damage, no complaints, no hassles. It's nice to know you can get this kind of service time and time and trust them with your valuable! I needed movers for a relatively small job at the last minute. I had checked Yelp and called a couple places but went with Kamaaina Movers because of the Yelp reviews and because Dwayne picked up the phone and the other didn't. Dwayne and Danny arrived on time and were ready to work and were very, very professional both in their demeanor and in handling the furniture. I had big items to move a short distance but they did it effortlessly and smoothly. They are also very reasonable, but their customer service and professionalism are their edges. Kama'aina movers has got to be one of the best moving companies on Oahu. They not only were on time, but came early (with my permission of course) and completed the job VERY quickly. There were multiple obstacles moving from one apartment to another within high rises and they were extremely professional with nothing stopping their flow. We shipped our household goods from California to Hawaii in a 20' Matson in November 2012 and needed help unloading and moving into our new place. These guys are awesome. Very fast, efficient, and friendly, and no damage to our stuff or the walls. They arrived about 45 minutes late but called ahead to keep me updated on their status. We requested 2 guys at $90/hr, but because they were running late, and because we had a time restriction to get out of the old place, Dwayne sent a 3rd guy to help with the move at no additional cost. It took less than the time estimated to move my things, and the guys were are friendly and easy to talk to. They didn't even charge me for the time we spent waiting for my new apartment to get prepped for the move-in.
