From arrival to departure it was definitely an experience! Lots of things for the kiddos to do, not so much for the adults. The rooms are very expensive with minimal amenities. I love the fact that the rooms have fireplaces and balconies other than that pretty standard. I also love that there is a lot of sleeping space, the queen room sleeps like 6 people. Overall cool experience, bring your own snacks and food and pack your patience and you will be just fine. Lastly, I've seen a lot of families with toddler kids and my personal opinion is that this is more for children 10 years old and older.

I have visited and stayed at Kalahari Resort on several occasions. it is a destination for families to come stay and play. There is an absolutely enormous pool area and they operate Spa facilities of all kinds as well. On site you will find several restaurants and there is ample room service available. I do want to emphasize that this is an absolutely huge resort hotel, so be aware of where you book your room within the facility. You may wind up doing some indoor walking to get to the restaurant or pool that you're visiting. It is also a destination for groups to visit and hold conventions, conferences, and other large meetings. The facility and staff are excellent for this purpose and there is a large conference center attached to the hotel and entertainment area. This is a benefit for people who are attending conferences and bring their family along. Nearby of course is the theme park Cedar Point, and many people choose to stay here while visiting the theme park. This makes it a prime destination hotel on the north coast of Ohio.

Stayed at the Kalahari again this year for Colossalcon. Starting to feel like they hate guests that stay during that event, even though it is the biggest event they have all year (I asked). I called a week prior to confirm everything was ok with my reservation, day of I preregistered about 3pm (check in starts at 4pm), then went through most of check in at the desk as I bought gift cards in advance. They checked me in and charged the cards then realized the 2 bed 2 bath suite I booked wasn't there due to a recent system update a month prior. They downgraded me to a 2 queen sofa and refunded the difference onto gift cards. First offered the wrong amount. This took 3 staff including a manager about 40 minutes and we weren't offered anything extra like a free bag or towel. I was afraid to ask as I was worried they'd penalize me or would mess it up and charge me. The room was on the far point of the hotel, window was open with no screen, and a broken window sill. There was only one ice water station other than water fountains throughout the conference center. The con center was far colder than the resort side (needed a jacket). Now I will say the parking was well managed, they had plenty of staff directing parking. The lazy river was closed most of our stay and I wasn't allowed to ride Dawn Breaker. They said it's cause I'm under 100lbs, but I was a 2nd rider not single as the posted guidelines only said single riders needed to be at least 100lbs. Early check out again for congoers (10 instead of 11am). The waterpark was at least clean. Some rides were closed, but not too long other than the lazy river. Room was also clean. Bottles were tamper proof for peace of mind. Microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker in room. Overall the stay was ok, but not great.

Unfortunately, this was the worst stay our family has had at Kalahari - this may very well be our last time coming here! We contacted resort staff three separate times with serious concerns during our stay and saw no action taken--only empty apologies. That lack of response was extremely frustrating and made it feel like guest experience was not a priority. Going back to the room for a break didn't help. Our room faced a solid wall, did not have a fireplace as advertised, and we dealt with constant loud door slamming and wall pounding from nearby cleaning staff. It was not relaxing and made it difficult to rest. The conditions in the waterpark were also unacceptable. The lines for the water slides smelled strongly of urine, as if people were urinating while standing in line, which was extremely unpleasant and unhygienic. The wave pool was especially concerning. Chunks of concrete were breaking off the bottom of the pool, and I cut my foot on one of these pieces, about the size of a penny. There was concrete grit throughout the water, which was very unsafe - I gave chunks to the staff to emphasize my concerns. On top of all of this, everything was freezing cold. The wave pool water was freezing, the slide water was freezing, and the hot tubs were not hot at all despite hour-long wait lines with 40+ people. Even the indoor temperature felt cold. For the cost of this stay, none of this was acceptable. Overall, this experience was not worth what we paid and fell far below expectations.

We stayed at Kalahari for 3 nights with the Stay & Play package, and overall we had a great time with a few things that could be improved. We arrived around 1:30 PM and were pleasantly surprised that our room was already ready -- such a relief after traveling, especially with kids. However, the new luggage carts are definitely a downgrade. They barely hold anything, and if you have more than just a couple of bags, it turns into a hassle. Really hoping they switch back to the old style. The waterpark itself is always a blast, but I do wish the hours were longer. Closing at 8 PM on weeknights feels early when you're on vacation and trying to fit everything in. Same for the sweet treat shop -- we felt rushed trying to get from the waterpark to the room, get dressed, and then make it down to the arcade and grab treats all within about 45 minutes. We chose the Stay & Play package mainly for the arcade credit ($100 each night), but we didn't realize that when you use the package credits, the games don't give you tickets. That was disappointing, especially with kids who love winning prizes. On the positive side, the kids absolutely loved the Build-a-Bear experience. It was pricey at about $100 for two bears, but it is vacation, and they had so much fun that it was worth it. I also really liked the new charging wristbands -- super convenient and nice not having to carry a card around all day. As for comfort, the waterpark air could've been warmer. I remember it feeling much more comfortable in past visits, but this time I felt cold almost the whole time. The hallways were especially chilly. Food-wise, the Pizza Pub was fantastic. We had it delivered right to our room, and both the pizza and the chicken chunks were delicious -- honestly one of our favorite meals of the trip. Overall, even with a few hiccups, we had a fun stay and would visit again. Kalahari still delivers a great family getaway, just with a few things I hope they adjust back to how they used to be.

    Blue Indoor Adventure Passes

It's a bit early for a new review, so this one is simply for the response to a recent issue. Our past stay had a mixup with the adventure passes we selected. For all first-timers, apparently you can choose between indoor or outdoor adventure passes. Though we chose outdoor, the resort mistakenly gave us indoor. We missed out on our intended package, but when the resort was made aware, upper management became proactive in offering a solution. We appreciate that the staff cared enough to listen and understand our frustrations. We now know that this is a resort that aims to please and because of that we will return and continue to patronize Kalahari in the future. We look forward to a lasting relationship, thank you!

I stayed at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky for a conference. Excellent rooms with a comfortable bed. Guest services were very wonderful when I called downstairs from room like getting an ice bucket because there was not one in the room I was staying along with getting extra towels. I will be staying at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky and plan to do water park next year because of the conference schedule. The souvenir cup was pricy based on each day and they gave me 3 cups for 3 days, but they should put a color sticker based on the guest's days of staying at Kalahari Resorts. I will do it again to save money for each day. Thank you so much.

We were pleasantly surprised arriving on a Saturday it was packed but everything went so smoothly! Someone met us at the kiosks and helped us login, let us know the scoop and sent us on our way! Not a hiccup at all! Our room was clean and ready before check in and the facility was so much fun! Took two preteens gals and they had a blast! Lifeguards were everywhere and very alert. Waterpark was clean and well maintained. Dinner was great at the Italian restaurant and our server was legit the coolest, wish I could remember her name! And surprisingly we all slept through the night peacefully! What a great time! I was worried with previous reviews but it was truly a great time for us!

We love it here but i experienced some hiccups this time. I booked 3 weeks in advance, paid in full & completed early checkin only when arriving only to be told to use a kiosk and stand in line for 40min-1 hour for my room key and 4 waistbands. That is unacceptable. The kiosk malfunctioned & tried to run my car 3 times, said approved but it never went through for the taxes & fees. I don't understand why they wait to you arrive to charge for that. It didn't give my key or wrist bands & eventually it said to see the front desk/concierge. So much time was wasted during the process. After standing in line and waiting to get to the front, the receptionist lady walked away and didn't say anything to me . So I went to the lady that was next to me and she said she couldn't help me because I wasn't in her line. As if I wasn't standing there for a long time and she didn't witness what happened . I was getting annoyed . Eventually, a nice young man came to help me, but I was not happy ! The velet wasn't charged until after my stay which was odd because i booked that via their text message the day of b4 arrival. The kids had a wonderful time! We did enjoy the water park & it's amenities. However you can not connect you phone to the tv in you room; so it's outdated. No netflix, amazon prime or Disney plus; even though there is a option in the tv that shows connect. Smh, its false advertising. i did not get the pull out couch/bed that i requested when booking online 7/26/25 & when i messaged the staff about it while i was there 8/17/25 they just apologized & didn't make any accommodations! The food was great. The tenders are over priced because they only give you 2 inside the water park stand. I loved the burger & my drinks from the adult swim up bar. The kids souvenir cups are overpriced also. Of course i still got one for my niece & I. It was a nice lil getaway from home overall. It could've been better. Hopefully the next time we come back it'll be upgraded

How much is the breakfast buffet, adult & children prices?

So i live by Kalahari in the Pocono Mountains, about 30 minutes away to be exact, I was thinking of doing a trip to check out this location. Would you think it would be worth the trip for a few days here? I absolutely love Kalahari in the Poconos.

Yes because one night gets you in for 2 days. It pays for itself since a room is 200 a night for example and includes 4 passes for 2 days

The price for a family suit on a Wednesday with 4 passes to the water park is very reasonable. Upon arrival check in was simple and went pretty quickly. You are allowed to start your fun before the room is ready, which is good because the waterpark closes at 8 and opens at 10 am. You can also continue to play after check out. We found this very nice because you wouldn't get much time to play if not. Our room was ready early but our bands didn't open our room so they gave us new ones. The girls working were friendly and helped us sort it out quickly. We were disappointed to find hair in both of our beds. We called and requested fresh bedding because we wanted to get playing. They never came but they did give us a new room, also with hair on the sheets. Our cleaning person came in and we watched her replace the pillowcases with clean right off the cart and guess what? Still hair! This is a laundry issue but we were relieved to know it wasn't because our beds were dirty. This was our only negative issue. Our room was clean and spacious. The pull out sofa wasn't the most comfy but we were so wore out we slept well. The Waterpark wasn't very crowded and it was very fun for our boys! My grandson said he felt like a VIP and they will both remember this fun time. The workers keep a very good eye on things. We felt safe. There's a Dunkin Donuts in the lobby and you can order on an app which I recommend because I ordered at the kiosk and waited 30 mins for 2 coffees. ($9) I would recommend ordering ahead and pick it up when you get a text to save waiting too long. We brought in snacks and drinks to our room. We had a fridge but no microwave. Overall we all agree it was a great time and we will return. The kids loved everything and they said their review is "great"!

The kiosk check in process was a breeze, and I LOVE that water park wristbands double as room keys because it's one less thing to worry about losing. The onsite Dunkin offered good food at reasonable prices. The drinks were really good and felt like they justified their price because they were huge. The hotel rooms were very nice. The arcade was nice, and provided a good variety of games. The bad: Paying for parking is a huge turn-off. It's $20 per day just to park in an ordinary parking lot, which seems like an excessive charge that the resort knows it can get away with because people have to park. Strategies like that feel like they're trying to squeeze every nickel and dime out of patrons. The water park, itself, isn't great. There's two nice-sized tube slides and some very short body slides. The lazy river is also very short and filled with empty tubes in a way that feels claustrophobic. The hot tubs are nice. But it just doesn't feel like there's anything particularly exciting to do. Once you've been down the slides a few times and checked out the hot tubs, that's mostly it unless you're a little kid (there's a few activities that are geared for young kids). Overall: If you want a good resort experience, you can get it here. If you want a good water park experience, you've got much better options nearby.

So, if you either live close by or you have purchases a season pass for the year, this is a great place to come and cool off for the summer. I could see living nearby and buying a pass every year if I had small kids or a group of friends to hang out with, especially when the season pass is $99. Then coming here even twice would pay for itself. Since for the first time ever, we have a season pass, I would like to come back and relax at least one more time. But, if you are just coming here for the day without a season pass, it is not worth it at all. Everything is very old and not well taken care of. Everything is also covered in bird poop, and I literally mean everything. You could have thought they would have cleaned up for opening day, but nope! And you would have thought the rain would have gotten the poop off of literally every surface, but nope. This is a tiny place for the money compared to other waterparks that ask for similar entry fees. The prices for the food is high and when you ask the workers questions they do not even know the answers. I asked where the changing room was to get in and out of bathing suits, they did not know. Plus the lockers are not even near the changing rooms at all. Not very convenient to a point where a worker agreed it was not set up in a customer friendly manner. A lot of the rides were breaking or not open. The lazy river was slimy and very dirty. The entire place was a bit dirty, and again, it was opening day. f Plus there were a million bugs. I think I ate 15 just trying to climb up a slide with my poop covered tube. Then I flipped at the bottom of a slide and went under, and the lifeguard just watched me. I have been to many other places nearby. If you have the money, I would recommend just going to Kalahari if you want a waterpark. I liked Great Wolf and even Castaway Bay better. If you have a lot of money, I would recommend Volcano Bay or the Disney World Orlando waterparks over this one.

The only thing I hated was that every 45 minutes there's a mandatory evacuation of the water for everyone (unless you're a parent with a small child). There was confusion about if adults without kids could stay in... but either way, it was disappointing that the entire pool had to clear out for 15 minutes EVERY 45 minutes. I've never been to a water park where lifeguards didn't just swap in and out for breaks. If you have a Groupon it's worth going. Otherwise, I'll stick closer to home as this was a solid hour from my house. If I could give a tip to the owners... For your BIG slides, have the line start at the BOTTOM of the slides. Then at the mid point on the stairs, allow one rider for each slide to wait. At the top of the ladder, have two riders... one that's going to go down the slide and one at the top of the stairs. As each rider goes down the slide, move the kids up the ladder so that it's SAFER than a ginormous line of kids standing on stairs. All it takes is one child to misstep and fall and knock out everyone standing on the steps with them.

But if it closes, hope another wet ride goes in it's place.

(They warn you in the station you'll get completely soaked in case you're daft enough not to notice this with your two eyes.) Snake River Falls is short and sweet and just what the doctor ordered on a blazing hot summer day. It's kind of hard to screw up a log flume ride, unless of course you're Intamin. (Oooo, too soon?) There's also an observation bridge where you can just about as wet as if you actually rode the ride. And if you wanna air dry off a bit Skyhawk is a few steps away. Or you can spend $5 to stand in an air drying booth to undo what you just did. A curious waste of money to me unless you feel a strong hankering to ride Snake River Falls on a day that's just not hot enough to ride Snake River Falls. Well, that wraps up my Cedar Point series. Hopefully, that wasn't my last trip to the Point and at some point I will be back on Yelp reviewing future thrills as yet unseen.

Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!
