Queen Elizabeth Home is truly a home away from home! A group of girlfriends and myself have stayed…read moreat this home for many years and every year it never disappoints! This home accommodates 6-8 people. It has a large beautiful screened in porch on the back of house, a large dine in breakfast area and an office if you need to get some work done. It's within walking distance from the jet express and extremely close to many bars and restaurants! There is also a golf cart rental spot right across the street if you want to explore the island more!

I have had the pleasure of staying in this house every summer for the past 3 years and I have to…read moresay it is something I look forward to every year. It is the perfect place to stay for a group of 8 people. The price is affordable for anyone on a budget. I believe it is $550 per night (there is a 2 night minimum). For that price you get 3 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has two twin beds, Bedroom 2 has 1 Queen Bed, and Bedroom 3 has a King Bed and 1 twin bed. There is also another room that has a queen size air mattress, however there are no doors. It used to be an office that they converted into an extra room. There is a fully equipped kitchen (great for group dinners), a dining room with a large table and a living room with cable. Lots of ceiling fans, however there is AC. All of this in a very open environment perfect for entertaining. There is a nice screened in back porch with a nice wicker lounge set. A large yard, perfect for games and laying out. There are two parking spots in front of the house if you even dare decide to bring a car onto the island. By the way, don't feel like you need to bring a car because the house is a 5-10 minute walk from the Jet Express. If you take the Miller Ferry, you can take the Lime Kiln Bus where it will drop you off at the train depot right across the street from the house. If you feel the need to go out, all of the popular bars and restaurants are really close to the house too. My favorite part about staying at The Queen Elizabeth is that you really feel like you are at home. I just love looking at all of the personal memorabilia and pictures belonging to the family that owns the house. I truly feel so welcome and comfortable whenever I stay at the Queen Elizabeth and I will continue to go every summer with my group. We call this our Island Home.

Normally I am pretty lenient and understanding with any hiccups or mishaps during a stay, but I…read morefeel compelled to share my story about my experience at the Ahoy Inn. After checking in on 7/2/18 with my emotional support animal (I suffer from anxiety and have my Yorkie registered with supporting documentation), my boyfriend and I went out to explore the island. As we returned in the evening, the hotel manager informed us that she was leaving a voicemail in regards to our animal, as well as being a "non-couple" in the same room (Ahoy Inn only allows couples to rent a room). I advised the woman that we were indeed a couple, and her demeanor immediately changed to being rude after finding out I identify as a gay male and have a boyfriend. After this encounter, I was then advised my boyfriend and I would need to leave the hotel immediately (it was 9PM at night) as the premises does not permit emotional support animals. Come to find out, the manager later disclosed they do in fact have "specific" rooms for couples staying with emotional support animals, but the room we paid for and were staying in was not one of them. Ahoy Inn refuses to refund payment on a room which was occupied for less than 6 hours, and put us in the position to have to leave the island the same night to try and find a room (being the week of the 4th everything on the island is booked). I am appalled and disappointed at the treatment from Ahoy Inn. Not only do I feel as though I was being discriminated against for being a homosexual couple, I was further discriminated against by not being allowed to stay in a hotel which accommodates emotional support animals, just not in my specific room.

I texted the owner to ask if there was anything they could do to process a partial refund (I knew a full refund was off the table). They responded fairly quickly with what seemed like thoughtful support and they offered to "see what they could do." After that, after following up on their offer they stopped responding to all correspondence (text, Vrbo messaging, calls etc). This was over a month ago and myself and my guest have tried to contact them. Very rude and unprofessional to ignore customers.

We were…read moretold we were booking the middle unit, but upon check in, the group before us had received an "upgrade" ( their words) and were given the middle unit and we were placed in the basement unit. This is not a three bedroom unit- two futons, two horribly dates and nasty stained futons do not constitute beds. If you are over 5'6" you will need to crane your neck to fit in the shower. This is a very old basement that someone has attempted to make decent for sleeping quarters. Everyone shares the yard and porch, so if we were to have stayed in the middle unit, i cant imagine a restful sleep there either as the porch is partied on all night. There were 14 people in the top unit, 6 people in the middle and the 5 of us in the basement. The person that owns this property also owns the houses on both sides and it was party central all weekend. If you are bringing your kids, or want relaxation, there are better places to choose than this location. As a lodging owner myself, I just have to add that the bed sucked horribly. Comfort def is not first and foremost.

There were no chairs left and barely any room to stand. The DJ was good. There was quite a variety of music. Not really my vibe but everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying a few songs here and there. The drinks were great. The bartender in the pool was great. Very attentive and friendly. Like most popular places the drinks were expensive and the big "O" drink was all ice, but it was nice to carey around. It seemed like there was enough staff to keep up with the demand of the crowd. Security made regular rounds and was very friendly. It was a nice day overall. There was a booty shaking contest, a belly flop contest and a wet t-shirt contest that never actually happened. I'm old but it was fun to spend a day at the pool drinking and cheering on strangers. I do wish there was a better layout on the upper deck. People tend to line up along the side to people watch and it makes it a tight fit when it's time to go get a drink from the bar upstairs. The upper deck didnt have any umbrellas for shade. I understand that most people would go up there and sunbathe but with the amount of people taking up all the space downstairs it would have been a nice break to sit in a shaded area for a moment. Also there was no food and that kind of stinks. I realize it's better to keep drunk people from trashing the place but it would have been nice to be able to order snacks that we could have eaten off to the side. I'm not a hard-core partier but I enjoyed being able to go hang out during the day and have a good time.
