Stopped by here for a fun little pool day. It was packed full of people. I'm not sure when the best time is to arrive but we got there shortly after noon and it was standing room only. There were no chairs left and barely any room to stand. The DJ was good. There was quite a variety of music. Not really my vibe but everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying a few songs here and there. The drinks were great. The bartender in the pool was great. Very attentive and friendly. Like most popular places the drinks were expensive and the big "O" drink was all ice, but it was nice to carey around. It seemed like there was enough staff to keep up with the demand of the crowd. Security made regular rounds and was very friendly. It was a nice day overall. There was a booty shaking contest, a belly flop contest and a wet t-shirt contest that never actually happened. I'm old but it was fun to spend a day at the pool drinking and cheering on strangers. I do wish there was a better layout on the upper deck. People tend to line up along the side to people watch and it makes it a tight fit when it's time to go get a drink from the bar upstairs. The upper deck didnt have any umbrellas for shade. I understand that most people would go up there and sunbathe but with the amount of people taking up all the space downstairs it would have been a nice break to sit in a shaded area for a moment. Also there was no food and that kind of stinks. I realize it's better to keep drunk people from trashing the place but it would have been nice to be able to order snacks that we could have eaten off to the side. Nasty, Disgusting, feels like a Health Hazard. The bathroom is incredibly small and dank. It smells wet, musty, and like urine. There is a cloth shower curtain that smells like it has never been washed. A nasty brown smudge on the headboard was waiting for us when we arrived. This place should be investigated by the board of health. Only came here because it was the ONLY room available at the time. If I knew then what I know know we would have skipped the island all together. This place will RUIN your vacation unless you are there to party, get drunk, sleep and repeat. Not family friendly. Hello I just checked out of your hotel. There was a feces stain in the toilet, a used wash cloth on the floor, blood stain on my sheet, red stain on my floor, PANTIES under my bed and mold stain on my shower curtain. When I showed your staff at checkout they didn't seem too surprised. I spent $265 for one night in your establishment. The location of this hotel is great, right in the middle of downtown Put in bay. However the bed is not the best and the pillows are very flimsy. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway but it had the necessities like a fridge, hairdryer, toilet paper etc. It is noisy at night from the pool being open until about 11pm. The subway in the lobby is nice for a late night snack. The jacuzzi tub in our room turned on by the jets didn't work. Overall okay stay for a weekend trip. read more

Location is close to everything downtown, pool is great Weekdays, weekends gets really crowded and there is barely room to move or swim and there is a pretty good Dj. The rooms are equal to a motel 6 and the beds are way sagging it would be more comfortable if they laid them on the floor because of the middle dip in both the beds that were in our room, you are paying more because it's on PIB of course. There is a subway open late in the lobby. It gets pretty loud so they do supply complementary earplugs in the rooms. The staff was helpful to our needs while we stayed there. DO NOT STAY HERE!! If I could give zero stars, I would. We decided to book here due to the previous decent reviews but I should have looked further... First and foremost let me be clear and mention that this slum is not a resort. Upon arriving my guy and I were immediately disgusted with the loitering and inappropriateness of the locals who were not staying at the resort. There was no mention that the pool and facilities were open to the public--again. This is not a resort...I was not impressed with the look and feel of the room. I paid over $200 for a room with a hot tub but when I saw the stained sink, stained bed skirt, hair and mold behind the toilet and several other unclean items in the room, we were certain that we would never put our bodies in there. We confirmed later that the jets weren't cleaned. The entire floor grout in the bathroom tiles had black mold..The people in the pool and those that were outdoors loitering were loud and obnoxious. This was disturbing as we had a first floor room. We had to close the curtains because they could see in our room. Terrible!!!... We left and arrived back at the hotel to discover that the 20 inch TV wasn't working. Then the shower drain was backed up.. They front desk pulled the Jamaican worker from SUBWAY to resolve the issue after the "manager" said she wasn't coming to help..Very ghetto! At this point I was annoyed and uncomfortable but didn't want to inconvenience my guy and leave.The next morning is when I see someone else's hair and dirt behind the toilet and surrounding the toilet, more specifically on the sides where the round things are supposed to be. There were no caps, just dirt and rusty screws. I look up near the sprinkler and see that someone had smashed an insect and left it on the wall. I would think housekeeping would have cleaned this but no, it was left there. I am aware that it is fish fly season; however, regardless--just nasty. I had enough so I went to the front desk to speak with the "manager". I had already complained the night before and the info was left for the "manager". One would think a real manager would reach out to be proactive with proving a solution but this woman/man, whomever it was, is the reason why this hotel is a slum. After she disrespectfully reprimands the Jamaican worker in front of everyone for not placing a wet floor sign after a woman slips, I express my disdain for her behavior towards him and the dirty room. She was a bully. It was disrespectful so I wasn't going to let it pass. At this time, I understood exactly why the hotel in is the condition that it is in-- poor management. I asked for the owners information and she replied saying, "you'll never get it." After this, she calls the police on me and said we had to leave. No problem! The officer even passively comments that the room was unkempt. The so-called manager felt good thinking that we had nothing else lined up as accommodations and says "good luck" with laughter as we pack to go..I chuckled as well...She agreed to refund my money for only one night even after stating that she would also do a partial refund for the previous issues the night before.(He got emotional and decided not to partially refund me for the day before I guess--whatever..). ON TO the hotel Harriet's House, just steps away! Absolutely beautiful, clean and had phenomenal management. When I called them at 9:30 am, they stated that we could come early and check and AND they had a golf cart waiting for us. When I say this place was spotless, SPOTLESS and comfortable... we wanted to stay and extra day. I have never been so happy to have been put out of anywhere before. God knows best! .... These Commodore folks should really look into better management and learn what a REAL RESORT looks like or at the least learn how to clean and remove mold. Burn this place down. Where to begin on the let down of this over priced motel? Because, yes, motel is the definition of this place not "resort". We stayed in a second level room that overlooked the pool. The room was disgusting - after walking around without shoes on all of our feet were covered in dirt to the point of being completely black on the bottom. I won't even complain about the pool noise - we were able to enjoy the Vegas-style pool with DJ. But beware, the pool is open to the public and you can't bring your own drinks or food inside. Additionally, every single chair is broken - don't believe the response from the owner on a previous post. The water is gross and murky, but what else would you expect from a human soup pot? Finally, the staff is completely rude. In speaking with staff members before arriving, they were accommodating and kind. But once we arrived, the front desker was rude and curt. Checking out, the person did not say a literal word to us - simply looked with a blank stare, wrote down our room number and we walked away - no "have a good day" even. To top it off, a few lies advertise about this hotel: 1) They do not have luggage storage. They allow you to leave your luggage in the lobby and I can bet you the staff won't ask questions if someone's poking around in your bag. 2) They do not have two outdoor pools. There is a rock wall that separates a raised portion of the pool. But two separate? That's some creative advertising. 3) Daily housekeeping? HA! Housekeeping came by but only supplied additional clean towels. They couldn't even leave more toilet paper. The beds were not changed - even though the white sheets had black foot marks all over them from our disgusting feet. If you're thinking about staying here, don't. Super disappointed in our stay here . First of all , the cleanliness of the room is piss poor. My feet are filthy after my shower just from walking around in the room. The shower was GROSS , and barely had hot water. Beyond this , the atmosphere here is only good for people looking to get back out drunk and listen to insanely loud music the whole time. I understand put in bay is a party island but there's no reason you have music blasting so loud at NOON that I can't even take a nap in my room. It's so ridiculously loud. Furthermore if you wanted to visit the pool bar good luck. It's always crowded and HALF of the pool is sectioned off for " VIP seating" for $1,000 for 1 day . You read that right, a THOUSAND DOLLARS . For ONE DAY . So if you like being shoulder to shoulder with drunken chads all day drinking 7$ white claws this is your spot. And at night when they party in the hallway until 2 am you can call the front office 3 times before anyone comes down to tell them to quiet down. Every single day we've been here we have had to call the office over noise complaints . Not even being a Karen, I don't care if ur partying in your room or whatever but when it's 3 am and you're in the hallway outside my room screaming , we're gonna have issues . OMG where do I begin. I guess I do need to take some responsibility for not reading the yelp reviews prior to our stay. I chose this place because it was downtown and walking distance to everything. It advertised a king bed non smoking room, which is what we got. What this place does NOT advertise is the music turns on at the pool at 10 am. The music SO loud, the bass vibrates the room. While they do supply ear plugs (Seriously??? What kind of establishment has to supply ear plugs to guests? ). There is absolutely no chance of napping during the day. Or resting. We tried to make the best of it and went to the pool during the day. It was disgusting. There were leftover remnants from the previous days party. There were drink glasses all over, chicken wing bones floating in the pool and food all over the place. The pool was filled with bugs and the staff didn't seem to care. Stayed here the 19-22 for my brother's bachelor party. The convenience of being close to bars and the pool where parties were held all weekend was nice. The subway was open until 3am which was nice as well. As far as the room goes, it sucked. My bed frame on my bed was broke, there was a used tampon under the headboard. Stayed Friday and Saturday night on the 3rd floor. Check in was simple and the staff was very friendly. Both the desk and cleaning crew were great. Having been to the island several times and knowing what to expect on summer weekends, it truly wasn't a bad stay. Room was clean, and recently updated. Beds were average at best. Someone left the pool area lights on overnight which light our room all night long on Friday. The window shades used in the hotel allows the light to glare into the room at the crack of morning. There is no sleeping in here. WiFi is non existent, so do expect it here. read more

I spend about 75-100 nights a year in hotels. This was easily the worst hotel I have stayed at in years. 1 - It stunk. Just outside the main door, after you get past all the smokers it smells like vomit that has been baking in the sun for days 2 - The manager is horrible (details later) 3 - The room was dirty 4 - The bed in the room was broken. Somehow they managed to clean the room (yeah right) make the bed, and not notice that the entire middle structure that supports the bed was broken causing the bed to sag all the way to the floor 5 - We arrive early and are room was ready (as expected). We were told we could leave our luggage and it would be safe. Great, drop off our luggage and go explore the island. When we come back a few hours later, three of our four bags are missing. The one lady behind the counter was busy and couldn't help us. The other guy (brand new) had no idea what to do and said go file a report with the police. I insisted they call the police, and the manager. The manager was too busy to even talk to me on the phone, and one the employees called her back a few minutes later at my insistence she wouldn't even answer. Fortunately the police came, and with the help of the security guard (the one bright spot in this huge mess) we used my iPhone tracker to find the iPad that was in our luggage. Someone had just helped themselves to our luggage along with there own. Apparently it is very easy to lose count of your three bags and grab three more by mistake. Never received a call or visit from the manager about this, no followup, no apology, just a $20 gift certificate the the bar around the corner. 6 - I have bites and a rash all over my body from whatever bugs are in the hotel bed 7 - No one ever made up our room while we stayed. Maybe this was a Covid thing, but it wasn't communicated to us. 8 - I paid extra (ok only $10) for a Jaquzi room. My wife took one look at the tub and said it would be a cold day in hell before she got in that nasty dirty thing. I would sooner sleep in the rental golf cart than stay at this "resort" again. I wasn't expecting a five start resort, but the level of filth and apathy from the staff was truly astounding. The island was nice, and we would consider going back, but only if we can find a house or BNB to rent. read more

The only good thing about this hotel was the location on Put in Bay. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was not the cleanest. We were there three days and housekeeping never came to clean our room. We even told the front desk and nothing was done. We also had to go down twice to get towels and toilet paper. The last day that we were there we found bed bugs in our room, we took it up with the manager and she claims that "we have never had this problem." I decided to do some reading on reviews and come to find out that they have. She informed me that the only thing they can do is give us a 20% refund and that wasn't good enough for me. My thought was bringing them home, I've never had bed bugs nor do I ever wish to have them. She told me that in order to give more than 20% she would have to get ahold of the owner. So I went ahead and headed home well it's now been over 3 weeks, 6 calls later, and still nothing. I was finally able to get ahold of the manager on the phone and she pretty much said that we brought them in and there's nothing that they can do about it. She had the worst attitude of any person in a work place, especially of a manager. She handled this situation completely unprofessional. Keep in mind that I never take vacations for myself and this completely ruined my entire trip and is still giving me grief weeks later. I should have read these other reviews before booking this hotel because it seems to me that I'm not the only one who had so many issues. Please please please do NOT stay at this hotel. I called twice before my reservation to verify the "heated" pool would be open. Apparently they only open it Thursday Friday and Saturday I was told my the man at the desk. I went back later to ask about a discount to stay another night so the pool would be open and they threw me out. I had to sleep on the ground. It was cold. It was my birthday. This review is only written in case you're reading this because google lead you astray while you were debating on what Lampoon Vacation to plan with your kids. So unless you & your SO or Best Friend wanna get-away to one of the most Funtastic Party Weekend you've had since college,then Google should redirect your trip advisor back to Disney or Myrtle Beach. This hotel is an adult playground destation for colorful happy weekend drunks of all ages. It truly IS the Key West of the North (except much cooler to hang for a few days,since cruise ships don't port there). Not 1st Rodeo with party places near water(being from Myrtle Beach)~so,like Key West, do yourself a favor by not making a trip all way to Put-In-Bay Commadore for room service,robes,a spa menu or a 5 star restaurant,because even an avid party animal cannot stay for more than a weekend. We went in October, because it was the cheapest place we cold find for 2 nights. The total was $234 for 2 nights. Great when you think about the fact that it's that amount for 1 night in July. We were given a smoking room to begin with and we immediately asked to be switched. We were given a new room very quickly. The other reviews are correct it's no resort. We didn't stay in the main hotel. We stayed across from Mist in the second building. Of course, Mist was closed. Our second room was good. The room was 236 on the second floor above the smoking rooms. That became an issue later. Someone must have had the fan on in their bathroom while they were smoking. We could smell cigarette smoke in our bathroom for hours. We tried turning our fan on & it only seemed to make it worse. We didn't asked to be moved. The smell finally went away after the fan was off for a few hours. We found it very convenient to Mr. Ed's. We planned on on watching The Ohio State Football game at Mr. Ed's but ended up leaving (See Mr. Ed's review next). read more

Our room has a big jacuzzi tub. The room is priced well. Although the bed and TV are a little outdated, we had a good time. If you are looking for a quiet setting, do not attend on the weekend. There is a pool that is not owned by the hotel and has a bar so people will party on a Friday and Saturday night pretty late. During the week it's quieter. The staff was nice and helpful. We were charged $180 per night for a room, which was kind of pricey but it seemed to be a clean room. However, one reason we selected this facility was because on of their amenity's they sold us on was the pool that had a bar. We were told that only the hotel guests were allowed in. This is NOT TRUE! They let anyone use it and a fight broke out there and they closed the pool to everyone. When we asked about this we were told "Sorry!". That was it! So, instead of offering us something..anything...they just took our money and blew us off! I am being generous giving them a 2 star. It's called Commodore Resort, but don't mistake it for a resort. It is simply a place to stay on Put-in-Bay. Clean, plain and plenty convenient. The Commodore just built a swim-up bar called Mist, which is adjacent to the hotel and adjacent to a couple other swim-up bars, all of which were packed when we showed up--perfect for 90+ deg. weather. We booked one day prior for a Saturday night stay. $230 for a double--not too bad for the height of the season and affordable when split among the four of us. Subway in the lobby is a nice touch (serves breakfast, too) and most appreciated by discerning drunks like us. Again, the rooms were clean and despite most of the clientele--weekend partyers--it was pretty quiet inside. But Mist was the main attraction, and it didn't disappoint. After we checked in and got to our room (Room 407...on the second floor?!) we made the best decision of the weekend. We opened the window shade. The window looked down between the trees and right into the Mist, where sunbathers, assisted by the Captain Morgan Girls and alcohol service, danced and splashed to loud, loud music. It was like spring break all over again--but a greater age range. Two hours later I peeled my face away from the window and we ventured into the pool. We also took in the adjoining pool bars and spent most of the day in the water. Bar service was slow, but that was due to the crowd, I think. Besides, the wait didn't seem too long given the surroundings and constant beachballs flying around. Alcohol, swimming and sun tired us out and most of the others, too, as the pools emptied out by about 7. There was one bad experience but I can't blame that on the Commodore. For some stupid reason I took my phone. The plan was to carry it in the pool--only about four feet deep--and set it poolside. But being an idiot, I put my phone in my pocket to climb into the pool. It was immersed for only a second before I realized what I did, but today, a day later, it's still drying out. We'll see if it works again. I wasn't the only idiot, though. We got a kick out of the guy who had "I'm gay" and a certain symbol of maleness on his back courtesy of sunblock lotion--probably applied when he was passed out on a lawn chair. Overall, good weekend and a good place to stay. read more

Update: I first wrote my review while hungover in bed in the middle of my trip, but events have since taken place that has made me change my rating. Our last night there an older couple went into the pool area and was about to go for a swim, it was maybe 10:15 or a little later. Mind you, the gate was not closed nor locked and when I looked later that night there was no sign saying it was closed or what the hours were. So as the couple go into the pool, two employees from outside the fences scream "Hey assholes you wanna go to jail?!?!?" At first I thought it was just a joke from some kids. "You motherfuckers better get out of there!" They then came into the pool area and escorted the couple out. Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary. Who does that to a guest? Also if they went in earlier and hit their heads and drowned, that's on you guys! I will never stay here again after this, especially since I wasn't that fond of this place to begin with (see original review below). I'm writing this as I lay awake in bed. So overall the place is okay and a decent price if don't go on the weekends. Its right in the middle of downtown PIB which is obviously convenient, but then again so are a few other similar hotels. The place appeared clean and had your basic TV, fridge, and microwave. Cons: 1. Holy damn is the poolside DJ loud. If he played his music half as loud I wonder if anyone would complain that it was too quiet, I doubt it. I stayed at one of the king size rooms on the poolside on the first floor. If you try and take a nap when he is at it, good luck. 2. The ceiling and door are paper thin. While we couldn't hear the people next to us, there was no need to set an alarm because around 10 am all you hear is the people above you walking around, and if that didn't wake you then the maids pushing the laundry bins around outside will. 3. The people at the front desk you're not funny. I went with a few other couples and we all experienced the same crap. The people at the front desk think they are so funny with their stupid jokes and giving wrong directions, but you're not so just stop, it's annoying. 4. You can't bring in alcohol to the pool. The prices at the bar aren't insane but you have 5 or so drinks it can rack up obviously. This isn't too much of a con but it just sucks. 5. The security guard to get in the pool area is so aggressive and rude. You would have thought he was trying to stop terrorists from getting into the White House. Hey bro, we aren't trying to sneak past you, you just weren't at the entrance... You were sitting at the bar, sorry we didn't see you. Oh by the way, he sniffs your water bottles. I get he deals with a bunch of assholes all day but we weren't being assholes. Overall it's not terrible but I would look into going somewhere else next time, or at least get a room on the second floor. read more

Number one, the swim up bar isn't open on weekdays. Number two, the clerk at the front desk gave us a key to a room that was already occupied. Number three, we requested a pool from room and we're charged for such but there is no pool front room. It is facing a fence that you have to walk around to an alley to access the pool. I would give 0 stars if I could. This place is the dirtiest place I've ever stayed in. And on top of it being disgusting, we found 8 bed bugs on our bed the very last day! When we spoke to the manager, she stated we would have to talk to the owner. She said she could refund us 20%, but the owner would have to deal with our issues. First off, we never received our 20% and they just handed us a black garbage bag. My friend who booked this trip tried getting ahold of the owner 6 times and just now heard back 3 weeks later after our trip. They denied the whole thing and stated the bugs were on our sheets? Why would we bring our own sheets to a hotel that provides them? Then they stated that we must have taken them all with us because they didn't see any. That means the room was NOT treated and others have stayed in that room since us!! They also stated they never had an issue with bed bugs there when in reality, they have. I've looked at multiple reviews and people have had issues there in the past. We were in room 126! So hopefully this helps customers change their minds on staying here. read more

We booked our room here a week before our arrival date and it is a decent hotel. It is hard to find when you are on the main strip so look for the vinyl signs pointing you toward the front door. The check in was nice and easy but the first night was very very loud. They supply ear plugs so I recommend you use them! The subway on the first floor is nice because it is open late. Overall this hotel is just a standard super 8 type room with a bunch of drunks walking around. read more

I can't complain because it was a 30 second walk from my room to the pool and the poolside bar. This quite honestly may be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The room had such a strong smell of urine and not just the bathroom! Boxspring and mattresses exposed with stains everywhere! The bedspread was stained with blood and lipstick! Carpeting looked as it hadn't been vacuumed in months! We spent as little time in our room as possible! Entry thru an alley way! We will return to Put In Bay but NEVER again to Commodore Resort! 0 Stars! read more

This place was terrrrible! To start out with we told them we would have 5 guests and the customer service rep booked us one room with 1 king bed! For 5 people! And don't even think about asking for extra blankets. The pillows they gave us weren't even sleeping pillows they were decorative pillows! The staff was rude and not helpful whatsoever. The only nice thing was the pool and the subway but you don't have to stay here to use the pool. read more

Older hotel, clean though, room we had was a king smoking right next to the pool bar. I thought we won't get any sleep but the bar closes at midnight and we were still out. And if you do want to turn in early, they supply ear plugs. The biggest reason I picked this place is because it was walking distance to downtown. I would give it another star but they don't supply a coffee pot in the room and that's a no-no for us. If we ever come back, I'll be looking for something different. But if you're just here to party and need a place to crash, it's not bad. read more

for a 2 start resort, this place was great. Friendly staff, clean linens and towels and rooms

I will start this off by saying i had incredibly low expectations BUT i was plesantly surprised by how "okay" this place was. We stayed in the old part, but the rooms were decently sized, seemed relatively clean, had a decent bathroom. Nothing horrible and nothing great - if you are like me and would prefer a real blanket instead of just those nasty hotel comforters than you may need to bring your own. Walls are very thin but as long as you aren't expecting some palace then you really aren't in for any surprises. I don't think anyone comes to PIB to sit in their rooms all day so its fine for the amount of time you spend in there. I would not reccomend however renting a golfcart from Commodore - I rented one at 9:45AM and we had it back before 10:45AM becauses we only wanted to be charged for an hour. When i checked my bank statement after getting home they had charged me for a full day. I called and they were able to refund my money but argued with me over how long i had rented the golfcart so I ended up having to pay for 2 hours instead of the a hour i actually had it. It was my word against theirs so there was nothing I could really do - so if you do rent one - be careful! read more
