The staff was incredibly rude - didn't care about guest needs. Remote control for TV didn't work, went to ask for batteries from the front desk and they acted like it was the biggest inconvenience in the world. Managed to find some batteries, still didn't work, then shrugged off the fact the remote didn't work in a $220/night "resort". Next night, friend asked for change to buy something from the vending machine, desk clerk replied with "not my problem" - this clerk apologized the next morning, but the damage was done... This is far from a "resort". No coffee maker in the room - let alone get coffee anywhere without a 2 block walk. Fosters was the closest coffee vendor, BTW. As for the Mist pool, it's a bar and not attached to the hotel. No affiliation to the hotel. It's a bar with a pool, not a hotel bar-pool. It's situated between the Commodore and the hotel on the other side of the pool. As the other reviewer mentioned, it is nice but simply a drinking pool. Overall, this hotel is awful. The rooms are not worth $85/night let alone the $200+/night they charge. The only thing going for it is the digital thermostat controlled AC/heater in the room. read more

Disgraceful and terrible way to run a business. I took my 11yr old daughter on a spontaneous road trip to Put-In-Bay. Got to the ferry at 6pm and the cashier says we better call to see if we can even get a room because we'd have to come right back. I got a room for $225. We bought tickets but turned out that my daughter had a full blown panic attack and wouldn't get on the ferry. I called the hotel within 1.5hrs to cancel my reservation. They told me it was non-refundable because the cancellation policy states no refund within 14 days if the reservation, that they had told me this and it was in the email they sent. I was not told this and I never received an email (until 3 days later when the charge went through which had no cancellation policy in it, nor does their website).I told them how we missed the ferry and I was advised to try the other ferry. They knew I wasn't coming and could've (probably did) rent out the room. I wrote to them as the charge did go through, explained the situation. They said that I never mentioned my young daughter as they would have advised not to bring children on the weekends to their hotel, and offered for me to use the hotel stay as credit for a night before the end of October. I cannot go on another trip, and this was for her and I. I cannot believe that a business would not refund for a service or product that was not even consumed by the customer in such a situation. I have not heard back from them and the charges have not been reversed. Shame on them. How can they enforce such a "policy" when i didn't even make the reservation less than 2hrs before, not 14 days... and also still charge me when they would have never suggest or allow me to stay with my 11 year old to begin with?! Aren't there any decent small business owners left in this world? I never want to go to put in bay now, and i would never recommend this resort. Better Business Bureau and Yelp are next. Unless of course they were to make this right. It's sad that I even have to give one star for this rating. read more

Do not have high expectations. My friend and I went to Put In Bay for a summer getaway that wouldn't break the bank. We did not have HIGH expectations for The hotel, but it was worse than expected. When we checked into the hotel the lady at the front desk let us know there was a "roofie" problem on the island. (Date rape Drug) A large amount of females were getting it slipped into their drinks. Strike 1. The room wasn't terrible. Somewhat clean, but we did take a towel to the floor After our feet were black from walking on the tiles. Strike 2. Have you ever been in a hotel that didn't have a phone or a clock? I know I have both with my iPhone,but there should be an easy way to contact the front Desk. Forget about sleeping here. It sounded like there was a herd of Elephants above us every night. The pool area was nice but it is not owned by the hotel so forget about getting some early morning sun by the pool. It is owned by the bar and they open around noon. All in all it wasn't terrible but I will not Stay there again. read more

The staff was friendly enough and it has a great location. The rooms are just standard rooms you would find in any $49/night motel room. You are paying for the location and of course because you are on PIB island and almost all the hotels charge this rate and also make you stay two nights. read more

To the owner of Mr. Ed's & Commodore Resort - We were unfortunate enough to be among your presence during our dinner at The Upper Deck on Saturday night (8/15/15). The fact alone that you blared your 5 boat horns directly at the 70+ diners on the patio during our Country's National Anthem should be reason enough to boycott your establishments but not only did not blare your horn directly at the patron's dining outside during this beautiful ceremony while staff members lowered our nation's flag, but you continued to do so for the next 30 mins. Glad you had ear plugs in. We did not. I am sadden that you do not have more respect for your country and the patron's visiting this island. The Commodore Resort, Mist at Put in Bay, Victory Station Hotel, Golf Cart Depot, Mr. Ed's Port Clinton, Commodore Perry, Dock's Beach House, Beachfront Resort will surely never receive my business. Shame, Shame, SHAME on you! I will continue to support The Upper Deck - They have great food at a fair price and not only that BUT THEY HAVE A GREAT STAFF. read more

Stayed at the resort for a girls weekend. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and felt very clean. We stayed during the off season, not much going on but there was a band at Mr Eds which was a lot of fun. Not sure if the experience would be different during the summer but I would definitely stay here again when visiting Put In Bay. read more

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... In this case it was photoshopped, cropped and filtered. This place wasn't terribly expensive and is ok for a once in a lifetime downgrading .... They called it a "resort" but it was more a motel in an alley. Signage to find it was horrible (walked past it three times!!!), and once you got to the check in area, you wondered if you were ordering a $5 foot long from Subway or checking into a hotel; a Subway was in the lobby of the hotel! (Or was a hotel front desk in a Subway Restuarant.?!) Staff politeness depended on the time of day and amount of engagement you sought to seek. If you sleep in (if you can with all the noise - there was a reason earplugs were on your nightstand next to the bed), forget housekeeping to return and clean later. The beds have caverns in the middle so we felt like we had to crawl out of a hole to get out of bed. Not very comfortable. There are no clocks in the room unless you have a microwave with one. Positives? We had a jacuzzi room which was awesome to enjoy that! Refrigerators that work well, and fresh towels were easy to get if you called for them (which we had to do because they didn't clean out room). The AC works ok, but not the best. It gets two stars cause of the Jacuzzi. read more

Unique experience- I cannot say my experience at this hotel was necessarily good or bad it was unique. I arrived with a group of 3 and it took us over 20 minutes to find the hotel/ check in desk. They have no sign out front. If you are looking for check in they are located inside the Subway however, your actual hotel room is located around the corner. That too took us 15 more minutes to find. The room itself looks like a trap house; there is no overhead lighting in the main room only in the bathroom. There is a small lamp, but it does not provide enough light to see. The "porch light" on the room is red. In my opinion, that adds to the trap like experience. Due to the lack of lighting in the room you have to open the blinds to see. However, they are shades so they must be pulled up or down, there is no in between. So, if you are trying to change your clothes everyone outside will see a show. I suppose you could just leave the door open for lighting which is what he opted to do most of the time. The room has a window next to the bed. It opens, but there is no screen. Being that the fish fly's are bigger than me that did not seem like a good life choice. There is also no full-length mirror in the room. I found this weird for a hotel room especially since people are there to go out and would want to make sure they look good. My biggest issues was house keeping. We stayed 3 nights; they did not come the first night. The second night I had to find them and ask them to please come and clean our room. They did however, they did not clean the bathroom sink or sweep the floor (the room has tile floor) so I am not exactly sure what they did. Prior to asking housekeeping to clean I went to the front desk for more towels to shower with. They asked me to bring my dirty towel in for an exchange. Shocked, I explained housekeeping didn't come that's why I needed additional towel. They reluctantly gave us more. However, the hotel is in a great location, there is always a concert going at the bar right outside your window, the pool is packed and ready for a party. Overall, we had a good trip! read more

We were totally disappointed in this place. They need to remove the word Resort from this establishment. The rooms were really small and yes they may have a swimming pool but it is only for 21 years and up. They did not tell me that when I booked. I told them it was for 3 adults and one child. The music they played was loud and very redundant. As the staff---the manager could of cared less on any issues you had. Hey i got your money so deal with it was her attitude. She really needs to get a new job as she has no positive people skills at all. They do not promise what they advertise in their ads. The phone in our room did not work and we told them that. Was not fixed by the time we left and I don't think they will fix it either. So my first experience with Put In Bay was not a pleasant one because of this Hotel so I doubt I will ever return to the Island. My rating for this Hotel is a negative not a positive. The mist pool is beautiful and a great place to hangout, people watch, enjoy a few cocktails and listen to live music. They serve a speciality drink, called the Big O, which is served in a souvenir plastic letter O. It's a fruity, frozen drink with multiple favors of rum involved. It's a two-person drink and costs $23. After purchasing one and drinking it with no taste or effect of alcohol, amid numerous comments of how strong these drinks were, I figured the girl at the Cabana bar left out the alcohol (while people at the bar distracted us from watching the prep) and sold me a very expensive slushie. Beware! There are plenty of other spots on the island to drink, so don't be fooled by the dishonest. read more

After our second night in our room, we woke up to bed bugs crawling on the sheets. I immediately found 7 bedbugs on the surface before going to the front desk. The hotel refunded our room after we waited 3 hours for a manger to arrive. Little else was done to lessen our burden. We were not assisted in any way in taking precautions to not take the bedbugs home with us or even make our scheduled boat ride off the island (which we missed). Our entire day was spent waiting for a manager, bagging our clothes, finding a laundry mat dryer to kill any bugs potentially on our possessions, and sanitizing our vehicles. Crappy way to finish off a trip. When we returned home my wife and I soon found we were covered in bites (bed bug bites can take up to 2 weeks to show up on a person). I counted 46 bites on myself before I stopped counting. My wife was covered with even more. To think these critters were crawling and feasting on us while we slept is an awful thought. After returning home I wrote the company to express my displeasure in the way we were handled and as of 3 weeks later haven't received a single response. The fact that the rooms are sub par is one thing. But the bed bugs and the hotels piss-poor way of handling their customers is a totally different matter. I am not one to leave poor reviews for any service just because I wasn't 100% satisfied. This experience, however, was more than I could take and remain quiet. Just so you know, if you take bedbugs home with you, the cost to heat treat your home is roughly $1/sq. ft. Fortunately for us, after spending $200 for a bedbug dog to come and check out our house, we are in the clear. Please keep this review in mind as you rent your room. read more
