Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast - Fun around the campfire

Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast

We were looking for a place to ride horses near Tiffin, OH (where the girlfriend is from) and we…read morehappened upon the Triple T Bed and Breakfast, which is closer to Findlay, OH. It's about 2.5 hours from Cleveland and would probably be a decent stopover if you're spending a day or two at Cedar Point. To be honest, it's out in the middle of nowhere; but that's also part of its charm. We got out there the Saturday before Labor Day. Matt Theis, one of the owners was out giving a carriage ride to a bride and groom that had just gotten married. We were more than happy to wait out by the beautiful pool until he got back. We also got a chance to walk out towards the stable. They had 4 beautiful and friendly horses, just waiting to be ridden. We said our hellos and looked around and decided to dip our feet. After a few minutes we were greeted by one of the Theis's daughters, who gave us a nice tour around the place. We also found out that we would be the only guests for the night in the main house! We're not anti-social, but it is nice to have the whole place to yourself. We also found out that the reason we had the place to ourselves is that the B&B had only opened in August of last year. Needless to say, they are on the right track. Later that night, after our own charming ride in a pony cart behind a feller named Chester, we decided to head into the county fair (another reason we were out in the country for the weekend). It was the smaller variety of county fair, but with all the usual varieties of mullets, corn dogs and tractor pulls. Ah, always a good time. We retired that night, full of cotton candy and candy apples, to our really nicely decorated and cozy room. Each bedroom at the B&B has it's own bathroom (something that not all B&Bs have), and it was recently redone with some very nice furnishings and hardware. The bed was a comfortable queen size with some pretty quilts. The satellite TV and free wireless internet satisfied the geek in me that usually is hurting to find an outlet out in the country :). The next morning, we woke up and had breakfast at the pre-determined time. The Theis' were up and ready with some delicious fare. I believe their signature breakfast item is the apple fritter french toast. Wow. As Matt said, try it before you put syrup on it, because it really didn't need anything else. Round that out with some hearty bacon, eggs, toast, fresh peaches and black coffee...well, it doesn't get better than that. After breakfast we had also arranged for a trail ride on some of the horses they keep on the farm. Matt saddled the horses in the barn out by the guest house (also available as lodging) and I took "Sonny" and the gf took "Indy" out for a jaunt. They have about a mile or two of trails throughout their woods and Matt took us riding through them. It was pretty calm the whole way, but the thing that sets the Triple T apart from other trail rides, is they allowed us to ride around in the pasture. Sonny wasn't liking the idea of getting above a slow walk, but Indy got up there. Matt even let me switch to his horse and "Cherokee" flew as soon as I sat down in the saddle. That'll hurt tomorrow. All in all, it was a great day/night. The proprietors couldn't have been nicer, the surroundings were beautiful and secluded and the price was right. We got a "fair" special of 75 per night and paid the usual 25 each for the trail ride. However, if we had been in just about any hotel, it would have likely cost the same, being a holiday weekend (and wouldn't have included a trail ride). I would highly suggest you get out to the country for a weekend and try out the Triple T B&B!

I agree with the previous reviewer; the Triple T B&B is a wonderfully hospitable place, whether…read moretraveling as a single, couple, or with a family (I've traveled there both with a friend and with my family). We unpacked and went right to the deck over looking the lake. Deck is big with 4 tables, a fire pit and lot's of room. Bart took time to tell us all about the area. He gave suggestions for our dinner and then called a local place and got us a private room for dinner. He knew all the best places to go. We had our own coolers stock so we had all of our favorite beverages so we settled in and enjoyed the deck and the lake. Our room had a setting area, a great bed and a wonderful bathroom with a big tub and a shower with a rain head. It was the widest shower head I have ever seen. Great towels and bathrobes. We went to dinner a half mile away and made it back to see a beautiful sunset from the top deck. Yes, 2 decks. The lower deck is ground level and if you are there and so if you want a private place to enjoy the lake go down there. There is also a very large hot tub if you enjoy them. The next morning, we woke to the smell of coffee and went out to the deck and was served a beautiful breakfast by Sandy, Bart's wife and co-owner. If we ever go back to Port Clinton, we will stay there again. My idea of a B & B, have changed. Bart and Sandy were Great Host and Innkeepers. Thanks to them for a great Stay.

The room was bigger than I thought, with a sitting area and a lake house / beach decor. The owner's Paul and Emily are so welcoming and very outgoing people. This place is walking distance to everything on the island. The location is perfect. Now, my favorite part of my stay here was the Breakfast. It was amazing and included in your stay. The owner Paul is the chef and he is creatively talented with the breakfast options. They offer an extra ordinary continental breakfast, regular breakfast items with a upscale added version. You can also order from Paul's special menu. I had a Cast iron blueberry dutch baby which was delicious. My husband had the Chilaqueles, which he has had in Mexico and said Paul did it exceptionally well. I would suggest when getting breakfast to eat it outside on their covered porch and people watch. Looking forward to my next stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Islander Inn for our anniversary; we had a great time on the island,…read morebut this hotel was lackluster. It was just before "Christmas in July"; we got the room at a discount (likely because they realized how crowded and noisy it would be). Once we got settled into the room before bed, we realized that the sheets were messy (seemed to have fecal matter on them), and when we asked to have them replaced we were told that they were too short-staffed to take care of the problem immediately. Once they arrived, we went through a series of attempts by staff to find the correct size of sheets, after which we were informed that they didn't actually have queen-sized fitted sheets. In order to not sleep directly on the mattress (ick!) I had to rig several regular sheets around the mattress. So, in summery: -Overpriced -Noisy -Dirty pools -Dirty sheets -Understaffed -Under-equipped staff

Warning to anyone with accessibility or handicap needs: Avoid this hotel. We booked a room…read moredetailing my handicap needs, but they made it clear the rooms they had would work as they were the same room minus the handrail in bathroom and they had no accessible rooms available, but that they'd give us the closest room. Upon seeing the hotel and room in person, it was very clear the room would not work. We immediately advised them of this within 5 minutes of check in. They held our $428.61 payment hostage and refused a refund so we could afford to get a more suitable room. The standard room they forced us into was completely unsafe and dirty--the bed was too high, the floors were slippery and the chair was heavily soiled and too low for me to be able to get in and out of it. The staff refused to provide safe alternative seating, offering only an unstable patio chair or metal folding chair. Due to these non-compliant conditions, I suffered a physical fall near the bed and injury, which is now documented by my doctor. To make matters worse, 24 hours after checking out, the hotel maliciously charged my credit card an extra $250 and $200 for fake 'mattress damage'--despite the fact that I used my own personal allergy and mattress protectors throughout the stay. This is a predatory, unsafe establishment that financially penalizes disabled guests who speak up. The ADA/U.S. Dept of Justice, and the Ohio Attorney General have all been formally notified. IF YOU HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AT THIS HOTEL, PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL AND ADA.GOV. THEY NOW HAVE ACTIVE FILES OPEN AGAINST THE ISLANDER INN FOR THESE EXACT PRACTICES, AND YOUR REVIEWS AND EXPERIENCES WILL HELP HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.
