Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! Hotel Breakers - Waxing nostalgia turning to disappointing modernity…read more My wife and I have been visiting Hotel Breakers annually now for about ten years, vacationing with her parents, sister, and all of our kids. My wife and her family have been visiting since she was a child. For them the return visits continue to be largely motivated by memories and tradition. I have the benefit of a more objective look at the resort, but even they agree on the following points. Reservations / Check-In : My mother-in-law calls to reserve rooms the first available day they can be many months in advance. Every year she requests three adjoining rooms in the same location of the resort, even supplying specific room numbers as an example. Ever year the results vary. Sometimes we end up on different floors or the wrong area. One year one of the rooms wasn't reserved at all. This year we were in the requested area, two rooms adjoining and then one down the hall. I've never had anything close to this situation occur at any other resort and it continues to boggle my mind how this ask is never accomplished without incident. We were once told the reservation team was not part of the resort but either a fully siloed team off-property or maybe even a separate entity entirely. I am not sure if that is still the case but the process of reservations has been around a long time and is not as complicated as it seems to be made here. The front desk / check-in team has always seemed unprepared and without much empathy. The Pools / Splash Pad : The pools this most recent trip were the dirtiest we have ever experienced. An incredible amount of bugs and debris were in the water and the filters did not seem to be turned on our whole trip. When we asked a life guard / attendant at one of the pools she let us know it was "her first day" and was unsure of what to do. There are elements at the splash pad that I don't think have ever worked in the near-decade I have been visiting the resort. The liner of the pools is an extremely coarse material that I don't think has ever changed and I have never experienced anywhere else. The quality of maintenance and upkeep in the pool areas was summarized this trip by a food tray leaning against a trash can for the entirety of our weekend. The Rooms : Less egregious than the first two points, I don't believe I have noticed much of an upgrades to the rooms here in our years visiting. Furniture and walls displays wears and tears and everything feels clean...enough. Our patio set was pretty filthy this past visit and it was disappointing to have to clean it ourselves compared to the room rate. Speaking of room rate, the prices at this resort feel tough to justify based on the experience on the property. What you are paying for is proximity to Cedar Point and Shores, as well as the beach. The proximity is a great amenity (especially with kids) and we would find it hard to do the trip without it. Much like Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores, everything appears to have taken a budget cut since the merger with Six Flags. I would love to see the Hotel Breakers put some emphasis on returning staff service levels to their former high levels, put money and effort into maintenance and upkeep, and justify the high room rates by offering more than just proximity to attractions. The Breakers is a historic and beautiful resort that deserves to meet the expectations of those who visit it.

I have to give a special shoutout to Kayla who was awesome checking us in! The lobby was decorated for Halloween and looked super festive and fun, so that was a nice welcome after a bit of a long travel day. The amenities are pretty good, with an indoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast, and a little snack area to buy items. Our room had a mini fridge, which I always appreciate to keep my water cold. The shower didn't drain well, but the bed was comfy. The room was a bit loud, but I sleep with earplugs so that doesn't really bother me. Our room had a door to the next room, which I always think is kind of weird if you're not with a group that you are traveling with, but we didn't have any issues. We could definitely hear people in the adjoining room talking, though. The location is nice and super easy to get downtown, plus you have a huge entertainment complex right next door with bowling, a bar, sports book, laser tag, etc. There was plenty of parking in the lot when we were there.

The hotel itself was clean. But it's old and outdated. When I went to wash my face at the end of the night the light above the vanity was out. So in the morning I had to apply my makeup in the dark. That was interesting. When I got in bed to settle down and maybe watch a show. The remote turned the TV on but none of the other functions worked. Now, I know I could have called the front desk but at this point, in just tired and already ready for bed. I really had a disappointing stay and wouldn't come back.

Ooooooh, where do you start when you want to say, "What the H*ll?!"…read more The very first offense was the entire room smelling like MOLD AND MILDEW. What caused this?! We don't know - what did we find? Water left in a tub! LEFT. IN.A.TUB. HOW LONG?! Who knows?! When I immediately complained, all they did was send someone to clean the tub. Did this work? Absolutely not. The room absolutely REEKED of mildew. The next night, I could NOT stand it. I asked for spray. How does one sleep with mold filling their room and no way to vent or open a window?! There were 6 people staying in this room. Four adults and two children under 8. Our room was at the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuurthest end of the hall, which leads one to believe it's forgotten about... The second offense were the crumbs and the blood left on the pull/ out bed (which in and of itself was an absolutely terrible bed for sleeping. You could feel every piece of hardware holding that crappy bed together.) Knowing that we JUST opened the pull-out bed and there were crumbs in it - NOPE! Not only was there crumbs, but when we took the actual sheets off, because we also had to do that ourselves as well, there was old BLOOD ON the sheets! As a woman, we know what old blood looks like and it was on this bed on the sides tucked in. That's unacceptable. Before we went to go to sleep, we saw 8 lovely legs creeping beneath another bed. Imagine what we didn't see. On Sunday, we stripped the sheets and piled them on all the beds and BOTH mattress were covered in yellow stains. Sweat? Urine? Who knows...?! The staff was less than enthusiastic for an environment that's supposed to cater to kiddos. Seriously, if you don't like kids, don't work there? The 'dance party' for the kids last maybe a half hour. If that? Who does that? And it's in the 'lobby' of the main entrance where there's a giant boat with barnacles, a mast you can light up and a talking-tube that goes up to the second floor. That's it. Literally. The rest is hotel and one craft room and arcades that charge you extra if you're not 'VIP'. Very few staff working the food places or around to ask about it. The best employee interaction came from a lovely girl in the late hours, when asked if the dock was okay to walk on, could we get back in, etc. She was so polite and friendly! I didn't see her name tag, but she had a bow in her hair - (Thank you for showing compassion and courtesy!) On Sunday, the slides were 'shut down' in random locations, we assumed it was due to a lack of staff since they slowly opened up after noon, but by then a good chunk of people are leaving due to check out. In the end, our visit was disappointingly-lack-luster and downright unsanitary. I expected more from a location dedicated to kiddos and their families. Even in the beginnings of the 'off season' as Halloweekend is around the corner, I had higher hopes. I understand 'bad days' and 'off weeks' but what I didn't understand was the lack of genuine care in a company that literally houses hundreds of families throughout one season. It said opened in 2004?. 22 years and this is the best you think you can do? In a world full of chaos, kids need fun and good memories. Do better Castaway Bay, do better!

The biggest issue was that you MUST wear a life jacket if you are under 56 inches. (4ft 8in), that's even if a parent is with you and the max depth of the pool is 4 feet. Within 10 minutes my kids who are 6 and 7 were bored and disappointed. We booked for 2 nights and left after 1 and went to a neighboring similar business for a night and had a lot more fun. Just not for us.

The picnic table needs painted or replaced desperately, the handrail to the cabin looks like an accident waiting for a place to happen and the mold growing on the window is frightening. I think I paid $1700 for two nights and 6 one day tickets, I'm just not seeing the value. And it's a bit of a hike to the park from here, I walked 25,900 steps yesterday!! Unless you have a cargo van with everything you may need including patio furniture; I'd just stay at Hotel Breakers or that nice Holiday Inn up the street.

The deal was $280 for one night stay, plus two park admission tickets, early entrance to the park, and parking. One thing we liked about the room that isn't in most hotel rooms was the size of the mini fridge--there was a separate door for the freezer. We also liked that checkout was moved to noon from 11am for no charge when we called the front desk. The worst thing about the stay was that we were woken up by banging on our door at 10am by an employee asking if we needed room service, when we had the "do not disturb" sign on the door. We are from the west coast and had not adjusted to the time change, so it felt like 7am to us, and we had been at the theme park the day prior. Ya girl needs her beauty sleep. The rest of the stay was okay. Again, totally fine for a convenient, no frills location near the park for just a night or two. $50 charge for later-than-noon checkout, for those who are interested.

We stayed there for 5 days and paid $125 a night with using a season pass discount. It does come with a refrigerator and a microwave which is nice. Downside is it does get really loud as there are kids running in the hallways and making a lot of noise at night. I ended up taking sleeping pills to sleep. They have a nice pool in the center. Overall, it was a good place to stay and would come here, but I might want to try there other locations to try out next time.
