Location 10/10 Up to 10 minute drives to cedar point, bars, restaurants, and downtown Sandusky. It would be super lovely if there was a shuttle between cedar point and their hotel properties. Rooms 7/10 We had a combination room. The doors were difficult to keep open so we could go between the two. They were okay. The floors were kinda gross, wouldn't recommend walking on them without shoes. There isn't really anywhere to unpack your clothes. The mattress was okay. The pillows were terrible and super flat, my neck hurt waking up each morning. The bathrooms were clean, there was shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted on the shower wall, but one of the rooms conditioner and body wash was completely empty and the staff never replaced it even after we asked. It was really nice to have both a mini fridge and a microwave in both rooms. Waterpark 8/10 Decent. Lots of slides, different sizes for all ages. It was really disappointing that the hot tub was closed though. Woulda been nice to stick our feet in after long days of walking at cedar point. Cafe in the Lobby: - Coffee 0/10 The employees don't know how to make majority of the drinks they have on their menu. We ordered an American with cream and a vanilla latte with oat milk one morning and the americano had no creamer and the entire latte was white; It was fully oat milk and no espresso at all. Absolutely disgusting. - Pizza 8/10. actually was ok. Looked like a frozen pizza. Tasted like a frozen pizza. Other amenities: Very little kid friendly between the dance parties, and craft room. The arcade was a decent size and lots of games. I also like that they offered mini golf, bowling and an escape room. However, they were kinda pricey.

I was able to make the couch bed but they need to provide more sheets in the room so you doint have to ask

I really doint think that this place is worth all that we paid for it. The water park is smalll and the room was small. There were no food options on property other than breakfast. The place was dirty as well multiple things closed daily in the water park. Staff were nice wish there were more around the resort.

First Impressions: * Front desk guy, very long nails, made a rude comment about a customer who called about towels * Room was not properly cleaned; brown curly hair and crumbs in beds. * Trash (disposable syringe package) left behind the toilet * Shower would not drain throughout entire stay (4 days), hair from previous customers shaving comes out of drain upon pooling. * Seemingly understaffed, stressed out employees - visibly miserable

Place looks nice, pool is kinda boring but still sorta fun, service was great and, food was good

I rarely leave reviews, but what happened at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Ohio, on July 15, 2026,…read morewas so deceptive that I feel obligated to warn other parents. First, let me be clear: my children and my brother's children--seven children altogether--and I had an amazing time. The water park, accommodations, food, and attractions were fantastic. This review is not about the quality of the resort. It is about what I believe is a deceptive practice that targets families. I booked a one-night, two-day stay with early check-in, late check-out, and purchased the Ultimate Package. When we entered our room, there were numerous snacks and treats displayed alongside the items included with the Ultimate Package. To a parent walking into a room with excited children, everything appeared to be part of the package or a complimentary welcome gift. Only after we had already enjoyed our stay did I receive an email informing me that I had been charged $303.18 for those snacks. I immediately went to the front desk while I was still at the resort and spoke with a manager. His response was, "I understand, but I can only cut the bill in half." That response completely missed the point. The issue is not whether I should pay $303 or $150. The issue is that the snacks were presented in a way that reasonably led guests to believe they were included or complimentary. The manager claimed there was a note somewhere indicating the snacks were not included. If there was, it certainly was not obvious enough to prevent this misunderstanding. If you are going to charge hundreds of dollars for snacks, every single item should have a clear, unmistakable label stating that it is NOT INCLUDED and that consuming it will result in additional charges. Hiding a small disclaimer while placing the snacks next to the package items is misleading. As parents, we save for months to give our children a memorable vacation. We budget carefully for the room, the attraction passes, the meals, and the extras we intentionally choose. What we should not have to budget for is a surprise $303 snack bill because children naturally assumed the snacks left in the room were part of what had already been purchased. Frankly, I don't care if Kalahari refunds every dollar. My purpose in writing this review is to pressure Kalahari's management to stop this practice. If enough parents speak up, perhaps they will redesign how these items are presented instead of relying on confusion to generate additional revenue. To every parent considering a stay at Kalahari Sandusky: be extremely careful. Before your children touch anything left in the room, ask exactly what is included and what is not. Better yet, tell your children not to eat anything that has been placed in the room until you have verified that it is free. Kalahari has built a wonderful destination for families. It should be known for creating lasting memories--not for leaving parents with unexpected charges that sour an otherwise wonderful vacation. Until this practice changes, I cannot recommend Kalahari to other families without this warning.

For all first-timers, apparently you can choose between indoor or outdoor adventure passes. Though we chose outdoor, the resort mistakenly gave us indoor. We missed out on our intended package, but when the resort was made aware, upper management became proactive in offering a solution. We appreciate that the staff cared enough to listen and understand our frustrations. We now know that this is a resort that aims to please and because of that we will return and continue to patronize Kalahari in the future. We look forward to a lasting relationship, thank you!

The price for a family suit on a Wednesday with 4 passes to the water park is very reasonable. Upon arrival check in was simple and went pretty quickly. You are allowed to start your fun before the room is ready, which is good because the waterpark closes at 8 and opens at 10 am. You can also continue to play after check out. We found this very nice because you wouldn't get much time to play if not. Our room was ready early but our bands didn't open our room so they gave us new ones. The girls working were friendly and helped us sort it out quickly. We were disappointed to find hair in both of our beds. We called and requested fresh bedding because we wanted to get playing. They never came but they did give us a new room, also with hair on the sheets. Our cleaning person came in and we watched her replace the pillowcases with clean right off the cart and guess what? Still hair! This is a laundry issue but we were relieved to know it wasn't because our beds were dirty. This was our only negative issue. Our room was clean and spacious. The pull out sofa wasn't the most comfy but we were so wore out we slept well. The Waterpark wasn't very crowded and it was very fun for our boys! My grandson said he felt like a VIP and they will both remember this fun time. The workers keep a very good eye on things. We felt safe. There's a Dunkin Donuts in the lobby and you can order on an app which I recommend because I ordered at the kiosk and waited 30 mins for 2 coffees. ($9) I would recommend ordering ahead and pick it up when you get a text to save waiting too long. We brought in snacks and drinks to our room. We had a fridge but no microwave. Overall we all agree it was a great time and we will return. The kids loved everything and they said their review is "great"!

The kiosk check in process was a breeze, and I LOVE that water park wristbands double as room keys because it's one less thing to worry about losing. The onsite Dunkin offered good food at reasonable prices. The drinks were really good and felt like they justified their price because they were huge. The hotel rooms were very nice. The arcade was nice, and provided a good variety of games. The bad: Paying for parking is a huge turn-off. It's $20 per day just to park in an ordinary parking lot, which seems like an excessive charge that the resort knows it can get away with because people have to park. Strategies like that feel like they're trying to squeeze every nickel and dime out of patrons. The water park, itself, isn't great. There's two nice-sized tube slides and some very short body slides. The lazy river is also very short and filled with empty tubes in a way that feels claustrophobic. The hot tubs are nice. But it just doesn't feel like there's anything particularly exciting to do. Once you've been down the slides a few times and checked out the hot tubs, that's mostly it unless you're a little kid (there's a few activities that are geared for young kids). Overall: If you want a good resort experience, you can get it here. If you want a good water park experience, you've got much better options nearby.

The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

I would love to go back for a day and not even go to the park but just enjoy the hotel and its amenities. I do want to point out one thing that was kinda frustrating for us. The guy who checked us in told us that the pools closed at 9 but the hot tubs closed at 11. That didn't make sense to us. So we left the park early so our kids could play in the pool just to find out they're both open until 11. Both pools and both the pools and hot tubs. That caused us to take time away from the park when we didn't actually need to. The park closed at 10. It didn't make sense for the pool to close at 9. It also didn't make sense that the hot tubs which are in the same area would be open until 11 but not the pools. While we only stayed 1 day here, we spent Saturday evening-Monday afternoon at the park. The deal was $280 for one night stay, plus two park admission tickets, early entrance to the park, and parking. One thing we liked about the room that isn't in most hotel rooms was the size of the mini fridge--there was a separate door for the freezer. We also liked that checkout was moved to noon from 11am for no charge when we called the front desk. The worst thing about the stay was that we were woken up by banging on our door at 10am by an employee asking if we needed room service, when we had the "do not disturb" sign on the door.
