3.5/5 so I'll round up to 4…read more We booked this hotel on Hotwire - my first time using it - at a great deal, about $140 for the night ... On the Choice Hotels website it was $168 (AAA rate) for a room with two doubles, or $190 for a king room with sofabed. Hotwire assigned us a room with two doubles, but I called the hotel and they were able to switch us to a king room, which was great; we had two kids, who took the sofabed, and two adults. We actually had a river view which was nice too, we checked in around 1230am though after Cedar Point so I didn't realize it until the next day. Overall the hotel is quiet at night except our room was by the stairs, so there was a little noise, and my friend said she heard the trains a few times. Our king bed was super comfortable and her kids said the sofabed was comfortable too. The bathroom was pretty plain but was functional, although the toilet was a little loud. I was impressed by breakfast the next day, as they offered traditional options like donuts and muffins, as well as hot options like eggs, sausage patties, and make-your-own waffles. They even had yogurt and eggs, in a mini fridge. The only thing I can complain about is that the room is a little small - there was only one or two tables left when I went to sit down. Check-in was quick and efficient too, I didn't get the employee's name but she was very professional and chipper, which impressed me especially since it was past midnight at that point. We didn't have any pillows or sheets for the sofabed, but my friend went back downstairs and returned with some. Overall I'd definitely stay here again, it's only about a 15-minute drive from Cedar Point which was convenient ... Originally we had booked a different Comfort Inn, in Fremont, OH (a 40-minute drive from CP) so I'm glad we were able to cancel that reservation and switch to River's Edge.

The only reason I'll give this two stars is because the view from my room was nice and the staff…read more(not management, I'll get to that in a moment) seemed really friendly. I went down to their market to purchase a Starbucks Frappucino and noticed that it was expired. I went through the other drinks and found that every single Starbucks drink was expired. Out of curiosity, I looked at the other items and found that almost everything was expired by at least a month, some items expired in 2025! I was pretty disgusted so I went to the nearby Dollar Tree to grab some snacks. My television caused problems all night-it wouldn't turn on, but then it would but the remote wouldn't work. After three separate attempts to get my TV working, I gave up. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed some expired items as well. Some of the creamers near the coffee area were expired, the hard boiled eggs were shriveled and slimy, and the bread was stale. It didn't surprise me, considering the entire store front was expired as well. I think the worst part was as I was checking out. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. I went downstairs to let the front desk know, and went down to the coffee area to get one more coffee (minus the expired creamer) and as I was walking past the desk to leave, I overheard a woman, who I am assuming was management, say "she's just trying to get a free room, we have no cockroaches." Clearly she was talking about me, which was the final nail for me. To shrug off a very real complaint and claim that I was a liar definitely leads me to believe that management is fully aware of what is going on inside their building, they just don't care. I will never stay there again when I'm in town.

Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!

Clean - close to freeway - worked great for place to stay on way home. Extremely friendly service!…read more Fair pricing . Very good breakfast included

Our family had our 96 year old Dad's Celebration of Life at the Wild Waves compound. We discovered…read morethe property in January while it was under several feet of snow, and closed. We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. A fire pit and a pile of wood was even available for our use, along with plenty of lawn/beach chairs. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. If/when we ever come back this way- we will call Patti. For the location, beach, and local family ownership- I can't imagine more bang for the buck.

About 3 weeks ago, Cedar Point let its hotel guests know that they would be closing their hotels on Monday and Tuesday nights. This meant that our booking of Sunday night through Tuesday would be half invalid. I was scrambling to find us a hotel in the area that wasn't insanely priced or disgustingly gross. I found this Hampton Inn and the price was great - we paid $250 total for 2 nights. The hotel is about 20 minutes from Cedar Point, which isn't terrible at all for the price that we paid. I checked in online the day before and our room was ready at my selected check-in time. We arrived about 15-20 minutes before that time, so that was on us. Receptionist was super nice and helpful. She was also very nice the next morning when I came down to ask about the breakfast boxes. Breakfast boxes consisted of a yogurt, mini bagel, and two hard-boiled eggs. Not the best breakfast - but for a free box, it was fine. Coffee is served 24/7 in the lobby. Pool is open until 11pm and had a hot tub that was absolutely fantastic after a long 7 hour drive. Main pool was a bit cold, but we made do. The room was extremely clean - they had the sticker to indicate that the room had been cleaned and sanitized. Room came fully stocked with toiletries - including shower cap and cotton swabs. They aren't doing housekeeping during the stay, so if you need anything you can just ask the front desk. Beds were comfortable and came with a heavy comforter, which was very nice. Pillows were actually not bad. All in all, I had a great stay and will definitely be keeping my eye out for Hampton Inn's in the future.

At…read morecheck-in, I explicitly requested a quiet room and was instead placed next to the noisiest common area of the hotel, with children screaming and adults partying late into the night -- an issue clearly reflected in many other reviews. What happened next is far more troubling. Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on our door for our entire stay, housekeeping entered our room while we were not present and set our alarm clock to go off at 6:00 a.m. We never used or set the alarm at any point. This was not an isolated incident. The exact same thing happened to at least two other guests we spoke with, each of whom also had Do Not Disturb signs displayed and whose alarm clocks went off at exactly 6:00 a.m. the same morning. After being woken up at 6:00 a.m., a male housekeeper opened our door again at 8:00 a.m., waking us a second time -- three hours before checkout. Thankfully, I was in the room, as my 14-year-old daughter was asleep. I immediately reported this to the front desk and was casually told it was a "mistake." Entering an occupied guest room multiple times with a Do Not Disturb sign displayed is not a mistake -- it is a serious breach of privacy and guest safety. To make matters worse, housekeeping carts and equipment were loudly pushed through the halls throughout the day and evening, making rest nearly impossible. The hotel also does not provide basic cable, meaning channels like NBC and ESPN were unavailable -- disappointing during a major national event like the Olympics. I made multiple attempts to contact the hotel's manager, Matthew Watson, and received no response whatsoever. This property shows little respect for guest privacy, safety, or basic comfort. If you value a quiet stay or personal security, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
