They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, they even changed their own plans as well! As for the house itself, it is something out of a story book! Suzee is an exceptional designer, and the entire house feels lively and comfortable. You truly feel at home. You get the entire upstairs which includes a massive bedroom, a TV room, and a private bathroom. No one bothers you or even checks up on you. You are given the house key, so you are free to come and go as you please. With being only 1 mile from the lake (great for sunsets!), and just minutes from the great local shops and restaurants in Sandusky, OH, the Cottage Rose is the place to stay! A week prior to arriving, I called the B&B to request earlier check in than the 4:00 pm stated. The owner Sid, agreed since that was the only room that was not occupied the night before. AND he would text me if something changed. Since I did not hear from him - I texted him twice while in route to Vermillion - but no answer back, so I called him. He told me he was not there to let us in - and he would be at the house 4:30 the latest. Turns out he owns another company and the B& B seemed to be a part time thing. Upon arrival - we found that no one had occupied any of the rooms the night before, and the only reason we could not get early check in - he would not be on site to let us in. Upon our arrival we were shocked to see the condition of the property. The first thing you see is the front door- which was filled with cob webs and spiders - the entire front porch, swing and chairs were the same. Including the chairs outside by the fire pit. A complete lack of care or pride in the place. Interior of the house is completely run down and in need of a through cleaning. Ceilings were all water stained. All windows were filthy and the shades did not work. The only tiny fridge in main room was dirty & not cleaned, no wine glasses, no complimentary bottled water and NO BREAKFAST - hello it's a Bed AND Breakfast. They give you a coupon to go to a local coffee shop (NOT a sit-down eggs and pancake place) AND - the coupon is one $15.00 coupon for two people. And the coffee shop does not tell you that once you buy one thing on the coupon and there is - say $8,00 left and you want to get something else, once the first transaction is charged - the coupon is closed out and you lose the remaining money. We were told by the coffee shop that Sid was adamant on that policy. This was by far the worst place - hotel or B&B that I have ever Experienced. It should be shut down. Don't stay here - and I have learned a valuable lesson on reviews - don't trust them.

Shower is dated and locks not upgraded yet to be able to use mobile app. Fitness room is hidden in pool area and is small. One treadmill and a Peloton bike. There are also some free weights. The room needs a good clean, especially the treadmill. There appears to be a good bit of mold likely due to the humidity of the pool.
