Costs $20.00 per adult person and $5.00 for parking. Lakeside community is beautiful and quaint. Step back to the 1950s and enjoy life with swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, sailing, sand volleyball, basketball, nightly music, shopping, and dining. Dry community so no alcohol. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. Wonderful day!

The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

The owner educated our group of 50 on unique wines of the area. The talk was SO fascinating! I can't express how wonderful this book winery is!!! The rich history of the area, building and grapes! What sets this winery apart is its location--it's one of the few places in the area where you can sip wine while enjoying close proximity to the water. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the outdoor seating offered beautiful views that made our tasting even more enjoyable. Whether you're a casual wine drinker or a seasoned connoisseur, the setting alone is worth the visit. We had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines during our visit, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The tasting was well-organized, and the staff were both knowledgeable and friendly, making great recommendations based on our preferences. We were particularly impressed with the Pinot Grigio, which had a crisp, refreshing taste perfect for a warm afternoon by the water. However, it was the Cabernet that truly stood out for us. It had a rich, full-bodied flavor with just the right amount of complexity--a balance of boldness and smoothness that left us both savoring each sip. The Cabernet was so exceptional that we knew we couldn't leave without bringing some home. We ended up purchasing two bottles, and I have no doubt that we'll be reminiscing about our time at the winery as we enjoy them in the future. It's not often you come across a red that makes such a lasting impression, but this one definitely did. If you're in the Port Clinton area, I highly recommend visiting this winery. It offers more than just great wines--it provides an experience. Between the friendly staff, the well-curated wine selection, and the beautiful location near the water, it's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some truly memorable wines. We'll definitely be returning!

Hotel Lakeside - Dusty, spider web window shutters

Do not ever stay here. This is a historic hotel that is in great need of TLC. We were so looking…read moreforward to our stay, but found it to be dingy and dirty. Our first room was very small and cramped, had black moldy caulk in the shower, spiders on the ceiling, one window had NO window covering, rotting spot on wall, a "full" size bed that felt like a single bed. We had to ask for a sheet to hang over the exposed window. We asked to be moved to another room. The lady at the front desk gave us pushback even though it was slow season and hardly anyone was there. My husband insisted and they moved us to another room. It had a little more space, a queen size bed that was clean and bathroom was nice and clean. The rest of the room UGH! Gross, dirty air conditioning split that looked like it had not been cleaned for years, MANY spiders and bugs in every ceiling corner, stained light shades, dusty ceiling fan. One thing I need when traveling is a clean room. Elbow grease, paint and regular maintenance would go a long way helping this property. This is the worst hotel we have ever encountered. This was our first visit to Lakeside. I am sad for the Lakeside Community that the hotel is in such disrepair. The historic hotel deserves better. We ended up leaving and staying at a hotel in Port Clinton. It was a relief to be out of the Hotel Lakeside.

As much as I love Lakeside, I have to give Hotel Lakeside a thumbs down. While I realize it's…read moredesigned to be a step back in time, it still needs to be functional, safe, and clean. We had a hugely disappointing experience with a bed that creaked loudly every time you barely moved (no sleep for us), no hot water the entire time we were there, topped of with an unclean bathroom and dusty fan. There were no grab bars in the bathroom (despite the advanced age of most of the guests), thin towels, and dirty carpet throughout the hotel. No hangers in the wardrobe and a very tiny dresser with minimal storage. There were literally no shelves or flat surfaces in the bedroom or bathroom for storage other than a shared bedside table. The hotel maintenance staff did address the issue with the bed, however, the bed was left pulled out in the middle of the room after repair and felt like an unfinished project. The hotel was understaffed and those who were working were overwhelmed and unprepared to help patrons. I'll be back to Lakeside as it holds a special place in my heart but won't stay here. Makes me sad as I can see that if the original hotel continues to decline, it will go so far down that it will be razed at some point. With as many people who enter Lakeside and the cost to enter the grounds, I know the Association can do better than this.

We stayed at Little Ted's for 2 nights. Unit was large enough with room for 5 adults and 2 dogs…read more Unit was clean and updated except for a couple wood pieces of furniture that really need replacing & vinyl floors could use good cleaning as my daughter's feet were dirty after walking on them after she showered. AC unit is somewhat loud as it is for the entire unit and was adequate for a couple hot summer days..there are ceiling fans in each room which is nice. Beds were comfortable but desperately need new pillows. The Pool & grounds are very clean and well kept. Fire pit use was very nice made s'mores and had pizzas delivered to our cottage. Now for a little constructive criticism.. nothing that was a deal breaker but a few suggestions. Please add shower grab bar in bathroom, you step down out of the shower and have to remember your stepping down and easily could slip and fall.. bathroom very clean just small. Kitchen is well furnished with utensils and dishes but could use more dish towels, paper towels and a sponge to wash dishes. there is no dishwasher but was not needed for our party. Bath towels are very small, we bought towels and a couple pillows at Walmart to use. Pillows were all extremely flat and upon asking for extra the following morning a very nice man got us a couple more pillows and towels. There is a pullout sofa we didn't use bc there were no linens or blankets for it in the cottage and the office was closed when we realized. Lastly there are very few outlets in the unit. one in each bedroom and a couple in the kitchen area. We also bought a couple outlet strips at Walmart bc we had multiple phone/watch chargers and 2 cpap units needing outlets. Overall we had a nice stay definitely adequate. For paying peak season rates I do feel that a few improvements could be made. Definitely the grounds could use a little more lighting as well. My adult children were walking our pups and felt it was really dark, there was a man outside his cottage smoking and scared them bc it was so dark.
