The owner educated our group of 50 on unique wines of the area. The talk was SO fascinating! I can't express how wonderful this book winery is!!! The rich history of the area, building and grapes! What sets this winery apart is its location--it's one of the few places in the area where you can sip wine while enjoying close proximity to the water. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the outdoor seating offered beautiful views that made our tasting even more enjoyable. Whether you're a casual wine drinker or a seasoned connoisseur, the setting alone is worth the visit. We had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines during our visit, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The tasting was well-organized, and the staff were both knowledgeable and friendly, making great recommendations based on our preferences. We were particularly impressed with the Pinot Grigio, which had a crisp, refreshing taste perfect for a warm afternoon by the water. However, it was the Cabernet that truly stood out for us. It had a rich, full-bodied flavor with just the right amount of complexity--a balance of boldness and smoothness that left us both savoring each sip. The Cabernet was so exceptional that we knew we couldn't leave without bringing some home. We ended up purchasing two bottles, and I have no doubt that we'll be reminiscing about our time at the winery as we enjoy them in the future. It's not often you come across a red that makes such a lasting impression, but this one definitely did. If you're in the Port Clinton area, I highly recommend visiting this winery. It offers more than just great wines--it provides an experience. Between the friendly staff, the well-curated wine selection, and the beautiful location near the water, it's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some truly memorable wines. We'll definitely be returning!

Costs $20.00 per adult person and $5.00 for parking. Lakeside community is beautiful and quaint. Step back to the 1950s and enjoy life with swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, sailing, sand volleyball, basketball, nightly music, shopping, and dining. Dry community so no alcohol. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

We stayed there over the 4th and we could hear every footstep in room above. Toilets had no seat tops and beds were not comfortable. Worst of all, all communication was via texting! Microwave and tiny fridge in room. Good water pressure even on 3rd floor. This one was a deal breaker for me: the beds are super hard (some people may like this, I am not one of them) and the bedding wasn't comfortable. Looked worn, sheets were scratchy. Other: decor is dated looking, window coverings were worn, the bar felt like an afterthought, and the breakfast buffet was better then a standard continental breakfast. Breakfast is NOT included with the stay, but there is a discount for hotel guests. We were scheduled for 2 nights and only stayed one. The bed was really our major complaint, but it was a huge deal for us. A good night's sleep is important and I didn't get it. There's a lot to like here, but the bed was such a negative for us that I couldn't recommend the place to friends or family.

We were already there by that point, but our experience was very good, thankfully. Most of the complaints seem to be about noise, and I can see that during the season. We went at the end of September, off season, so much less busy I'm sure, and cheaper. There were some negatives so I'll get those out of the way first. We did have a little "neighbor noise" from the hallway and the room next door, but no more than any hotel. Rarely saw other guests except at breakfast and even then only a few. Which is another minor complaint: the breakfast was small even by hotel breakfast standards. Coffee, juice, pastries, and cereal. Yogurt. A pancake maker that beeped randomly. And that's it. Just enough to get you on the road. Other little stuff: weak wifi on the third floor (strong in the lobby.) Maybe they need repeaters. Broadcast TV only. Not that we needed it much, but being able to watch cartoons or something in the evening with a kid would be handy. If not cable, at least apps you can sign into if you have them. No fridge or microwave or clock, at least in our room. But those are really all minor niggles, and we still had a good time. The view was great. We had a two-queen Jacuzzi room, and there's a little balcony. The Jacuzzi was a blast for Kid K. She also loved the little beach (not really good for swimming with muck and goose poop, but nice to stand on.) And she liked the sand at the volleyball court, and the playground and rocks. In season they have three pools and a splashpad which would be loads of fun. Also a game room in the basement with air hockey, video games, board games to borrow. And a laundry and meeting room down there, and the ice machine. Snack and pop machines on each floor. A nice lobby with TV. The breakfast rooms were nice: bright and airy, many cozy chairs and tables. In the room comfy beds (recently updated?) A Keurig. A small bathroom with a separate vanity in the dressing area. There are cabins which would be good for big families. A marina which was in regular use. Tennis courts. So, all in all, loads to do right there. Only one restaurant nearby; most are on the other side of the peninsula, about 10 minutes away and a pretty drive. Lots of other stuff in the area of course. We had a great time, and the price was reasonable. Again, off season. Staff were great, at the desk, cleaning, breakfast. Easy to find, plenty of parking. We'd come back.

Positive; The Front desk/keeper was super friendly, the property was super cute and well taken care off. The pool refreshing, and beach for lake was clean and welcoming. Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point!
