The first sign you saw at the front desk was"No Pets" When entering our room.....
Dawn B.

This location gives Quality Inn a BAD name. The only reason it gets 2 stars is for the two polite young gentlemen at the front desk greeting everyone else in the morning. My daughter and I checked in at 7 pm on a Friday. We're on a small vacation so we walk in happy and say "Hello!" To the lady behind the front desk. Never looking up from the computer, she starts to check us in without returning the greeting. Ok we're not going to let that interrupt our mood. She begins to check us in. I slide my chip in, it read approved and removed so I pulled the card out. She tells me that it wasn't approved on her side. WAIT A FREAKING MINUTE!!! I check my account on my cell. It was pulled out. She messes with her PC for awhile and then gets her manager. Ok great she isn't the only one here. Computers mess up all the time. I relax. The gentleman(?) comes from the back and she explains what happened but she didn't state that the card read stated approved so I start to inform him and he cuts me off while giving me the hand. He literally put his hand up to cover his view of my face. I know I have a strong personality. I know this and I was with my daughter so I had to set an example. But a hungry head started stabbing me behind my right eye so I called my sister down from her room to speak calmly for me. She did great. I got my key while they fixed it. We walked into our room and the smell hit me in my face (remember I have a headache) and I just become more agitated. It smelled as if a dog was just bought in from the rain and shook itself all over the room. I pulled apart the bed looking for black specks. The bed was clean.... Praise God. We didn't use the pillows because they smelled like the room. My husband came the next day and brought Orderban from home and sprayed the carpet and beds which got rid of the smell. We go to Cedar Point every year and this mistake will never happen again. I almost forgot about the morning breakfast that was included. The waffle/pancake maker was broken, so sausage patties and scrambled eggs were offered with hot and cold cereal. You had to fix your cereal there because the entire hotel used one gallon of milk. I cannot make this up. There were no pints of individual cartons of milk. NEVER AGAIN. The lady that checked us in must have been cross training because she was also the maid who never came into our room to make up our beds. We saw her in the hallway doing other rooms.

Ants

This was not great... at all. For the price they charge I would've appreciate a room not covered in ants... freaking foul. This place needs a deep clean. Carpets stained everywhere... gross.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! If I could give this place no stars, I would. My family and I booked this place to stay while we enjoyed Cedar Point. First, the room looks very outdated. I didn't complain about that. However, the morning of Saturday June 9th, the housekeeper came through. We were leaving to go to the park and he asked my son to bring out our garbage. What?!!? Are you kidding me?? Then he said, do you all need room service? I responded with yes. I was already skeptical about this shading situation. We left to have a full day at Cedar Point. Came back into the room and it was not clean. I...Could...Not...Believe...It!!! I was so upset, but I let the issue slide for a little bit until I called to the front desk. I told the receptionist my room was not clean. She responded that she was not able to come, but we could pick up the towels along with clean bedding. Again another WHAT!!! moment. My son got the towels and when he came back into the room, a cobweb right in his face. I immediately told my family to pack up and we are leaving. I went downstairs to let them know why we were leaving and it was a very uncomfortable situation. The person at the desk understood. She continued to check us out, but was having issues doing so. The manager came in and I explained the issue to him. He was so rude and disrespectful. Called me a liar, stating the room was clean because it was on the log. I explained that I do not have to lie and for what?!?! Lying was not going to get me anywhere. He never apologized and I told him that his customer service tactics are way off and he needs training. He never went upstairs to look and he was very argumentative. I told him I wanted my money back and he said you better contact customer service because that is the only way to get it. I left and contacted customer service. That also was a bad idea. They were rude. The woman on the phone told me that I could not do anything because I have to wait for 72 hours and apologized for any inconvenience. She was clearly reading a script. I was so furious. We stayed at another Comfort Suite. That was heaven. We couldn't wait to take a bath. I contact the customer service 72 hours later. It was a pure nightmare. After reading my notes, they were putting me on long holds, then hanging up. I finally got a supervisor, Benedict. What a waste!!! He was no help. He did not want to fund me my money. He offered me a refund, but for the lower night. I had to call back several times because he did the long hold and hung up as well. This place is horrible. I would not even recommend them to an insect.

Mold and left over items in the fridge.
Irwin F.

This place was the flat out WORST hotel I have ever set foot in. Blood on the mattress and mold in the fridge. We took pics and video and walked right back out. The cowardly owner refused to refund us but Choice Hotels Corporate has. So his rude cowardice to pick up the phone and apologize did not allow him to screw a customer. The night manager kept spinning the story and actually called us liars. Uhh, pics and VIDEO of the Room, including the room # and of the conversation we had with YOU AT YOUR FRONT DESK - when you admitted a "maid maybe have missed things & you don't want to lose your job"- was so hypocritical that I feel bad that she felt compelled to lie and cover for this garbage business owner. I have posted the photos of the blood and mold on here. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Jason J.

Avoid at all costs! Bed bug issue and nothing but denial from management. Refunded my room costs but refused to reimburse for any treatments of our belongings. We checked the room as best we could before staying. Then woke up to one crawling in our bed. Not to mention they have an ant problem too. Pool was cloudy like milk. We were in room 25. The day clerk said they had a problem with bed bugs in an upstairs room but it was heat treated. Hey guys, if they were in one room and you only treated one room you still have a problem!

Dust on common areas

My entire experience at this hotel was terrible. We into this location & as we were walking down the hallway we could smell some mustiness. As soon as we opened the door to our room it hit us full force. It smelled like the carpet had been soaked & never properly dried. While looking around the room we found the following issues: holes in the sheets, stains on the comforters, something brown smeared on the wall & desk lamp, cobwebs between the bed and nightstand, a piece of urine-soaked toilet paper next to the toilet, dust on multiple common surfaces, & a ceiling light held together by tape. It was clear that the room was not clean, & the smell was especially bad. We had an infant with us who could not stay in a room/hotel that definitely had mold in it. We told the Owner that the room was unacceptable & we were not comfortable staying in that hotel since you could still notice the smell in the hallways. He said there is nothing he could do to return our money since it had been booked through the ChoiceHotels.com site, & we would need to talk to them directly. This was a lie because I have spoken with Choice Hotels directly multiple times & they confirmed that billing is done directly by the hotel. An escalations representative spoke with the Owner & he refused to provide a refund to them as well. I am filing a BBB complaint about the conditions of the hotel & the conduct of the Owner. I strongly recommend saving yourself a lot of trouble by not staying here.

3.5/5 so I'll round up to 4…read more We booked this hotel on Hotwire - my first time using it - at a great deal, about $140 for the night ... On the Choice Hotels website it was $168 (AAA rate) for a room with two doubles, or $190 for a king room with sofabed. Hotwire assigned us a room with two doubles, but I called the hotel and they were able to switch us to a king room, which was great; we had two kids, who took the sofabed, and two adults. We actually had a river view which was nice too, we checked in around 1230am though after Cedar Point so I didn't realize it until the next day. Overall the hotel is quiet at night except our room was by the stairs, so there was a little noise, and my friend said she heard the trains a few times. Our king bed was super comfortable and her kids said the sofabed was comfortable too. The bathroom was pretty plain but was functional, although the toilet was a little loud. I was impressed by breakfast the next day, as they offered traditional options like donuts and muffins, as well as hot options like eggs, sausage patties, and make-your-own waffles. They even had yogurt and eggs, in a mini fridge. The only thing I can complain about is that the room is a little small - there was only one or two tables left when I went to sit down. Check-in was quick and efficient too, I didn't get the employee's name but she was very professional and chipper, which impressed me especially since it was past midnight at that point. We didn't have any pillows or sheets for the sofabed, but my friend went back downstairs and returned with some. Overall I'd definitely stay here again, it's only about a 15-minute drive from Cedar Point which was convenient ... Originally we had booked a different Comfort Inn, in Fremont, OH (a 40-minute drive from CP) so I'm glad we were able to cancel that reservation and switch to River's Edge.

I went down to their market to purchase a Starbucks Frappucino and noticed that it was expired. I went through the other drinks and found that every single Starbucks drink was expired. Out of curiosity, I looked at the other items and found that almost everything was expired by at least a month, some items expired in 2025! I was pretty disgusted so I went to the nearby Dollar Tree to grab some snacks. My television caused problems all night-it wouldn't turn on, but then it would but the remote wouldn't work. After three separate attempts to get my TV working, I gave up. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed some expired items as well. Some of the creamers near the coffee area were expired, the hard boiled eggs were shriveled and slimy, and the bread was stale. It didn't surprise me, considering the entire store front was expired as well. I think the worst part was as I was checking out. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. I went downstairs to let the front desk know, and went down to the coffee area to get one more coffee (minus the expired creamer) and as I was walking past the desk to leave, I overheard a woman, who I am assuming was management, say "she's just trying to get a free room, we have no cockroaches." Clearly she was talking about me, which was the final nail for me. To shrug off a very real complaint and claim that I was a liar definitely leads me to believe that management is fully aware of what is going on inside their building, they just don't care. I will never stay there again when I'm in town.

Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!

We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. I checked in online the day before and our room was ready at my selected check-in time. We arrived about 15-20 minutes before that time, so that was on us. Receptionist was super nice and helpful. What happened next is far more troubling. Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on our door for our entire stay, housekeeping entered our room while we were not present and set our alarm clock to go off at 6:00 a.m. We never used or set the alarm at any point. This was not an isolated incident. The exact same thing happened to at least two other guests we spoke with, each of whom also had Do Not Disturb signs displayed and whose alarm clocks went off at exactly 6:00 a.m. the same morning. After being woken up at 6:00 a.m., a male housekeeper opened our door again at 8:00 a.m., waking us a second time -- three hours before checkout. Thankfully, I was in the room, as my 14-year-old daughter was asleep. I immediately reported this to the front desk and was casually told it was a "mistake." Entering an occupied guest room multiple times with a Do Not Disturb sign displayed is not a mistake -- it is a serious breach of privacy and guest safety. To make matters worse, housekeeping carts and equipment were loudly pushed through the halls throughout the day and evening, making rest nearly impossible. The hotel also does not provide basic cable, meaning channels like NBC and ESPN were unavailable -- disappointing during a major national event like the Olympics. I made multiple attempts to contact the hotel's manager, Matthew Watson, and received no response whatsoever. This property shows little respect for guest privacy, safety, or basic comfort. If you value a quiet stay or personal security, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
