The salon has an L shaped station layout and creates a friendly atmosphere where clients interact. I found this welcoming for my first service at the salon. I was excited to find such a comfortable environment. But if only the quality had met these standards. I prefer dip polish as it stands up to all abuse I put my nails through. The tech, who was the owner, tried to talk me into gel but it is quite a bit more expensive and have heard not as durable as dip. But she obliged me and used dip powder. Two days later my nails were chipping, then peeling and before the week was up, one hand had most of the nails off and some on the other. I called and asked for a refund...something I have never done before. But the quality was egregious. She asked me to come back in and she would redo them for me. So I did. And then...a few days later they were peeling off again! Such a disappointment because I really wanted to love this place. read more

While getting my nails done the week before, I noticed the Spa area. Don and Wendy talked about the new head Spa that was added. They said I could book with them or online. I went online and booked my head Spa for the following Saturday. I highly recommend this head Spa. It was so relaxing. I chose a 60 min treatment and added a scalp detox. The low lights, music and sound of the water gave me an overall calm. Not only did I get alot of pressure released from my head and neck, I also had an arm, hand, foot and leg massage. They used a deep cleaning shampoo to remove buildup, conditioner and hot oil. I experienced a steam on my face with lemongrass and ginger root scenta. Finishing with the Himalayan salt rocks. If you are thinking about doing this, I would highly recommend Kala Nail Spa. This was my first head Spa and I will definitely be back. Wear a tank top and loose clothing. Make sure to inform them if you are sensitive to pressure or have a sensitive scalp. I enjoyed the pressure on my scalp and face due to migraines and sinus issues. read more

Steps were missed in the Pedicure after stating a "they will make this a "special birthday experience and was so NOT! Manicure was Cuticle trim & polish. No massage, no nothing & then Ask if i wanted Cuticle oil. I have NEVER been asked that.....of course I do. Super bad experience all the way around for $130 bill! If u want to throw money away, this is the place with nasty towels. Extremely unsatisfied but more so disappointed. Oh and the polish is hideous. I said red & this mess is pink. Never ever again. Such an amazing experience. I have gone for several years and am so impressed with the remodeling they have done, it is such a relaxing space, the new chairs are great (I almost fell asleep). I have started having my nails done by Barry, she is so sweet and by far the best nails I've had in 44 years! I have nails that grow upward, not any longer! she fixed that problem and my friends and family are shocked. Now!!! My Eyebrows by Wendy..... I can't say enough to express how happy I am. as we get older, our eyebrows get thinner and they even stop growing in some places. I had my touch up today. They are undergoing renovations so the place is really a mess...but they did apologize for the condition when I came in. They said the renovation would take two more days. In my opinion they should've just closed up for a few days because the place looked rough, was super dusty and dirty and got the bottoms of my pants dirty as I walked through the store. They also were renovating the bathroom, so the toilet paper was just sitting on a box of tile, and there was nothing to dry my hands with after washing. I get that this is not their usual operation, but it was the experience that I had. The pedicure was good overall. I got the luxury peppermint pedicure (got $10 off using a coupon from valpak) which was $45. Higher than I expected given that there was no paraffin wax. It included: polish removal, nail trimming and shaping, a scrub with a massage, a sort of dry lotion application, an oily lotion application, and the nail painting itself. I'd say it was more standard than luxury. The massage was better than expected. He actually paid attention to what he was doing and had some good technique. Fairly long too, probably 10 minutes. My nails looked good after painting...no streaks or stains on my skin. :) Overall nothing special and I expect the place look much better once the renovations are done. I might come back with another coupon, but I am definitely still searching for a go-to pedicure place. read more

Stopped in on a Monday afternoon when my usual spots (Nail Bar 144/Blondo , American Nails and Spa and Kanwa Nails) were all closed/full and I needed a quick pedicure before leaving town. The atmosphere was very 1980s nail salon, definitely no frills or updated decor. Pedicure was adequate, with some minor smudges of shellac on my skin. The technician was polite and did a good leg massage. The paraffin wax treatment was scalding hot, and I actually left wondering if my feet would blister. Thank God they didn't, but the wax was the hottest I've ever encountered and I'm wondering if it's safe to apply that hot onto skin. Paid $80 something dollars for about an hour and a half pedicure/spa treatment. Probably won't be back, as I have better experiences in a more relaxing environment at Nail Bar or American Nails and Spa. read more

My sister-in-law was in from Ohio and I went here for some pampering. We were not impressed. The massage was okay, but I think my feet are rougher now that when I went in and my big toenail is slanted (picture attached). After seeing that Kala was voted best of Omaha this year i knew I had to check it out! After years of trying new nail salons to see what pedicure was the best I found the place! The reflexology pedicure is the best pedicure I've ever had. They are very accommodating and take their time. I get shellac on my toes and they make it look flawless. After going there a couple times for pedicures, I decided to go for an acrylic shellac fill. I was not disappointed, once again some of the best looking acrylics I've ever had. My technician continued to make sure I was happy with everything and really took her time and asked me multiple times if I was liking my nails throughout the service. I've been here twice now, both times I was not satisfied with my nails. On my 1st visit I got a pedicure and a gel manicure underneath shellac. The pedicure was good, nice, clean and comfortable salon. However my gel/shellac manicure chipped the next day, a big chunk broke off! I noticed the lady didn't put the gel or polish completely over my nails so there were gaps near the sides and cuticles. A friend said they will do this to get you to return sooner. I decided to give them one more shot, returning less than 2 weeks later and this time it can see tiny bubbles under my polish. I do expect immaculate nail when I leave and both times something went wrong, way too soon. I won't be returning. read more

I started going here after being a severe nail biter. I loved my new nails and they weren't so long for me to get upset. Long nails can easily be overwelming, even short nails were more than I had ever had. But Wendy was nice and listened to me. Now I have my own nails and they are shellacked. First time I have tried this palace and got the older guy. I only saw one man in the whole place. He was the worst. Grumpy and not nice from beginning I should have asked for someone else. His leg, foot and hand massages lasted a total of 4 mins for all of them. He barely did a hand massage on my left hand maybe 20 seconds. He did not clear my cuticles on hands and did minimal on toes. He used small cutters to get sides of nails and left red marks and one finger was sore the day after. Toe nails were cut so short. I never cut them that short and he didn't ask length. And they are not cut straight they are at an angle. I wish I could say the nail polish was done well but no. He left a gap between my cuticle and nail color probably because he did such a bad job on them. Save your money. read more

I had a mani pedi at this salon a few weeks ago. I felt cheated as the seemed to be rushed. I chose a color for my nails, and was told they couldn't use that color. I had a picture of how I wanted my nails done and was told he could do it. My nails did not look anything like the picture. When he was done, he simply put oil on my hands and told me to go wash my hands. No massage, nothing. My Pedi was worse. I paid for a deluxe, but got no massage. Warm towels were placed on my legs, but the temperature of the towel was not checked before applying. I had to jump and pull the towel off before it burned me. Same thing with the bag of oil that he wanted me to put my feet into. He did not check the temperature and burned my foot before I could pull it out. First as you come in the door they shout at you "appointment?! appointment!?!" then when you say yes or no they scream at you "pick color! pick color!" ... then the regular manicure I wanted turned into a 1/2 grinded up shellac ... I fell like I had acrylic nails put on. This place has zero customer service. The name badge of the lady doing my manicure was wendy and her badge said she was the manager ... the one person who I would think would have the best customer service. There was no 'spa' essence to the manicure either - no lotion, no hand massage ... just crazy electric file used to rough up my nails then a huge glob of thick glue like stuff before my nails were painted the color I picked. hands down the worst place Ive gotten a manicure. read more

This is my favorite place to get my nails done. I get artificial nails and have for years. the last salon I went to on a regular basis never new my name, and had so much turnover it was hard to find someone you liked and to stay with them. Kala started calling me by my name within the first couple of visits and since I always get the same thing, they no longer even have to ask me what I want. I do not go as often as I should and typically only go once every 4 or 5 weeks. In the year and 1/2 I have been going, I have only seen 1 new face. We wont be going back to this location. They do not sanitize their equipment- only rinse the tools and sponges in the sink! Watch them if you go here! We got a pedicure and were disgusted with the lack of sanitation. As we were walking out we also noticed dirty disgusting sponges tucked under each foot bath area that were worse looking than an old dirty sink mop. I dont know about you but I think its gross to re-use a rinsed off tool, sponge, or cheese grater that was used on probably 100 other people before you and not sanitized or used new. I always have a great experience here. Every time I get a shellac manicure, they are quick perfect. Prices are competitive for shellac, $30 for a regular single color and $25 for a French. The spa is very comfortable, bright and clean. I never have a problem getting in right away, and show up late afternoon on the weekend. I would not recommend this place and I will never go back. I went in for an express pedicure. First of all, my toenails were cut at such a deep angle when they should be cut straight across. While trimming my toenails, the guy took a chunk of my skin and I was bleeding. Rather than trimming my cuticle with scissors, he used a sander and he also used the sander on my toenails. I am pretty sure a layer will need to grow back. At the end of the pedicure, he put lotion on my legs, the lotion was SO HOT, he had to take it off right away. I did not get one apology from the person working on me. Do not go to this place. read more

I would not recommend this place. With so many to choose from you would think they would be a lot nicer. The first time I was there the lady doing my pedicure tipped herself $20 by not giving me back my change on a $20 pedicure. The second time the three of us felt as though we were not wanted there. They were very rude to us. For example when we were done they just stood up and walked away. We did not even know we were done. My daughter asked about getting a design but was told "I don't do designs" three different people worked on my feet. My toes looked bad when they were done. We were very disappointed!
