I had a very disappointing experience during my visit this morning around 9am. I was assisted by female optician (I see her name here on the chart but won't be mentioning it), and unfortunately, the service felt misleading and unprofessional. Without informing me, she added Illumacoat Ultra and an insurance plan to my order. I only realized this when my total came out higher than usual, so I asked the cashier to print an itemized receipt after I had already paid. If I hadn't specifically requested that receipt, I would not have known these extra charges were added at all. When I questioned the additional charges, instead of removing them, she repeatedly tried to persuade me to keep them. She then told me to "just try them" and said I could return them within 30 days if I didn't like them. However, returning them would take an extra trip and additional time out of my day. This could have been avoided if the charges were never added without my consent in the first place. What made the situation worse was that she told me I would lose a "20% discount" she personally gave me if I removed those add-ons. After going home and reviewing my receipt, I found that this 20% discount is actually standard for all customers purchasing their first pair. It isn't something exclusive she provided. I've been coming here for a long time with Kaiser insurance, and in the past, staff have always clearly explained and asked before adding any extra services. This was the first time I felt pressured and misled into paying for something I did not request. The amount itself wasn't a lot, but it's the principle. I ended up agreeing at the time because I had just gotten off a night shift and didn't have the energy to argue, but the experience didn't sit right with me. I hope management addresses this, as transparency and honesty should be the standard for all customers. read more

I came here to pick up my two pairs of glasses. I picked Rayban for the sunglasses with great big frames. I used my own frames for the everyday glasses. I got a text today that my glasses are ready so I came down to get them. Did they have both pairs there? No, they only had one. They made the Raybans with clear lenses instead of sunglasses. The frame is a large size to protect my eyes from the sun. It is way too large to wear with clear glasses every day. I tried it on and looked ridiculous. So here I am now, still with my old glasses and they are waiting for the second pair to come in, so that they can return them both and redo it. I have another month hardly able see. I regret to say that both my wife and I are not happy with our eyewear. I highly advise you go to a Korean optometry franchise where you get better lenses which are made in Germany like Zeiss. Kaiser is only interested in making money where they compromised their quality of their eyewear. I needed to have my vision check after the last one two years ago. This is something I'm used to doing, however, little did I know this would become more than the usual eye check or eyewear prescription update. I was examined by Dr. Hamilton without anything unusual. When that part of vision and examination was done, I very casually asked if having more floating things in my vision was anything- these are literally called floaters. Turns out that was THE most important part of the exam since I could have potentially an eye emergency called retinal detachment. She wanted to do an eye exam with dilation eye drops. The eye drops themselves were not uncomfortable but the effect does last for several hours afterwards. She also asked a colleague Dr. Kim to recheck my eyes for a second opinion. I have a follow up with her in 4 weeks. The slit eye lamp exam can be unnerving because it is VERY. BRIGHT. But it is painless. Covid precautions in place, insurance required. read more

We have gone to this location for the correction of the lenses twice and even the frame, when he initially prescribed, was not even the right size from the frame glasses, she was currently wearing, which were the correct size. They were about 2 cm shorter than her prescription. These guys are grossly incompetent or willfully negligent either. This is beyond a mistake. My rating is for the staff that works here named RUTH. She's one of the staff that helps you with your glasses. She was so rude and looks like she doesn't want to work there. If you ever going to be assigned eight her, ask for someone else. She will make you feel you're unwanted and shouldn't ask to fix your glasses. Very rude and very uneasy to talk to. My advise to her: Go find somewhere that doesn't involved customer service because you have no customer service skills at all. read more

I called Kaiser and they said this place makes their own appointments so you have to call them directly but they don't ever pick up. I had to go in person and make an appointment. 4 stars to the optometrist Jill C Hom, OD. Although I waited about 30-40 minutes after scheduled appointment time, she took care of me. We had a few laughs and she was helpful and informative about the care of my eyes & my eyesight. Turns out I was waaaay past due for an exam, so thank you Dr. I hope you're there when I return in 10 years hahahha. There was one other very nice person, the receptionist who checked me in. I did not get her name but she was very nice and even checked what was taking so long for me to be called after I had waited so long. Very helpful as well. All in all, I still got out within an hours time, got my prescription (which turns out to be the same lol) and I'm on to the rest of the things I have to do today. Thanks Kaiser Team read more

I totally agree with complaints from Annie G. The staff working in eyeglasses fitting was reluctant to provide satisfactory service. I am unable to use this more than $300 eyeglass ordered from them because the frame was not adjusted right . His attitude then intimidated me from requesting further adjustments. The person checking in was not very nice. I watched my appointment wait time, on the screen, go from 20-30 mins down to 5-10 mins. Then as more people came in my wait time rose up again to 20-30 mins. People that came in after me were getting called in first. Thirty minutes after my appointment time, I was ready to complain, they called me in. They checked my blood pressure and was told it was too high. Thats when I went off about the wait time and the screen fluctuating my wait time. She said the system hadnt been working, gave me some water, and told me to relax. How about turn the monitor off if its not working so we wont think we'll be called in the next five minutes just to watch it go up to 30! After the appointment I chose my frame, was given an invoice, and was told to pay at the check in counter. The same lady that checked me in charged me. I gave her the invoice. She said whats this. I told her I was asked to come here to pay. She starts typing while mumbling under her breath. She then starts pointing to the atm machine. I insert my card pay get my receipt and leave. Again this lady was not nice at all. I was told my glasses would come in seven days. Its been two weeks and no call about picking up my glasses. I have not been able to get ahold of anyone to inquire about them. This was my first time at this location and if i have a choice about it, will be the last. read more

I went to Kaiser Optometry Bellflower offices on Rosecrans for an eye exam to see if there is any change in my vision and obtain a prescription. The doctor that I was assigned was Dr. Jill Chan Hom, OD, she seemed to be nice enough at first. However, she did not seem too thrilled that I did not intend to buy glasses / contact lens at this facility. She kept bringing that up like I was a waste of her time. Then she said I was probably going to Costco or Walmart to fulfill my prescription, like that would have been a bad thing! Before she printed out the prescription she said she had to make some adjustments to it and for some reason, I did not have a good feeling about her prescription. I went to the optometrist I had (Dr. Ciampa of Norwalk), before my family changed insurance, and I am sooo glad I did!!! Even though my old doctor could have just filled my prescription and be done, he looked it over and thought it was unusual. He took me over to all his equipment and rechecked my vision. He said the prescription was substantially off from what his prescription would have been. He showed me an example of what the KAISER doctor ordered which was blurry and disorienting.... Dr. Ciampa recommended a different prescription and it was like someone turned on the light and I could see!!! I love you Dr. Ciampa of Norwalk, may GOD richly bless you for having such a good heart! As for Dr. Jill Chan Hom, I am quite surprised that someone like this works for KAISER. Up until this point, I had been very pleased with my physicians at KAISER, but those other doctors were primarily from the Downey Orchard facility. I see primarily out of one eye so it is especially important that I have good vision from it. Shame on you Dr. Hom, have you no heart that you would carelessly sabotage my prescription?!!! I was going to an out of network optometrist for 20 years by choice but now contact lens exams have shot up to $100-115 with no loyalty discount whatsoever. My $0 co-pay trumps all. Just a one time $78 fitting fee and i believe $40 for future annual exams afterwards 99% of the staff ive come into contact with which is probably about 7 different people are very kind and more than happy to help. You dont feel like a numbered patient they have to deal with on their long day at work. Dr Wong was really chosen at random based off his availability and my schedule matching. I lucked out. Easy going and thorough exam with eagerness to answer any questions or concerns. He was very accomodating and even gave me the next open slot to come in and get my eyes dilated while i was still in the exam room. Very convenient. If youre planning on dilation, bring sunglasses and maybe a hat. Sunlight is brutal when you have cat eyes First floor contains a pretty decent selection of frames. The lady helping me was so sweet and even helped me get a 50% dicount on my frames and 20% off my year supply of contacts. Great experience. I like to get things done early so I made my appointmet at 7:30am. Dr. Cho called me in promptly and did my routine eye exam. He explained what he was doing and why. I walked downstairs to order my glasses and was helped by Lucia. She was very jolly and helpful with ordering my glasses.I checked out with Sandra and she was also very nice and helpful in verifying my insurance. So my dad's been coming here for years, he's handicapped, and obviously parks in the handicap section, which used to be convenient because there was a back entrance right there. So he recently went, and it now requires a code, he had to walk all the way around, through the bottom optometry, down the hall, to the elevator to take him to the second floor where he had his appointment, mind you my dad was trying out his new walker, is barely regaining strength and mobility in his legs. I am fairly new to Kaiser so this was my first trip to the optometrist office there. Since I had no idea which doctor to choose, I let the computer randomly choose for me based on my time frame and their availability. I was assigned to Dr. Paul Chappelle. I feel I really lucked out with him. Such a nice guy, friendly, and thorough with his exam. After the exam he asked if I wanted to have my eyes dilated to check for cataracts. I agreed. He found that I have the beginnings of them in both eyes but reassured me about what that means for me and told me when to come back to have their progress checked. Dr. Mach is the worst optometrist! Totally rushed, rude, inconsiderate of patients needs. I ask for help picking out new contacts since they refuse to carry acuvue 2 & she argues with me over the choice I would like! Unbelievable! Won't ever go here again.
