The twins kept saying he was "very fun," super supportive, and genuinely enthusiastic the entire lesson. He made them feel confident and excited, even with small waves. The pricing was also very reasonable for the quality of instruction and experience. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip, and we couldn't have asked for a better day of surfing for our teens. We would strongly recommend Moku Hawaii and Victor to anyone--especially families with kids or teens. We will absolutely book with them again!

I was put in an odd spot. Surely not in my comfort zone…read more You see, a friend from Japan came to Hawaii and when asked what he wanted to do, surfing came up. As a local boy born and raised in Oahu, I'm embarrassed by the fact that I cannot swim. Surfing clearly out of the picture. I used to work in the Japanese tour agency many blue moons ago where I recall a surfing school that offers surfing lessons. My friend already knows how to surf so I didn't think this was for him so I asked one of my physical therapists who surfs regularly. He introduced me to a surfing school that's at Ala Moana Beach where I was given their website, which is also available in Japanese. I forwarded the information to my friend prior to his arrival to Honolulu where he didn't jump at it and said he'd think about it. On his arrival I drove him to his hotel on Kalakaua Ave and upon check in we saw a rack of surfboards nearby where I asked if they were rentals. The staff advised the boards belong to the in-house guests who were keeping them as storage while not in use. When asked about rentals, the front desk staff advised us to inquire with Moku Hawaii (MH) as their rates are 1/2 to what the businesses are asking for across the street on the beach. MH has been in business since 1985 where they hail from Japan. They started off as a clothing company but transitioned over to a surf shop offering surf lesson and rental business. We walked over and soon found MH, which is on the 1F at the corner of Koa Ave and Uluniu Ave. We were greeted by a friendly, young female staff who welcomed us and answered our multiple questions. With its locality, reasonable rates and customer service, my friend liked MH and decided to look no further. While checking out their inventory, my friend noticed hard boards and was hoping for soft boards. The staff guided us to those soft boards where it's available in either long or short. You will need to complete their rental form which to our surprise is quite flexible. For example, you can initially request for a 2 hr package but in the event you go overcast, you just pay the difference of $5, which is the price difference between 2 hr course and the next course of up to 4 hrs. MH gives back to the community as they sponsor multiple local keiki surf contests. That's so awesome. So, if you should be in a bind where someone asks you for a surf school in Waikiki, look no further and guide them to MH. We were surprisingly impressed with their surf shop and their amazing customer service. They open from 6am and close at 8pm

I dropped off my board with Gene, and he gave me a selling price that I agreed with, I signed up and registered with his system, where after selling the surfboard, he would electronically wire the money to me. Within one week, Gene was able to sell the board and wire me the proceeds. The service was excellent, and the process was easy. Most importantly, I was living in a small apartment and did not have the space to store 2 long boards. This way I drop off my board to Gene, and I didn't have to store my boards while trying to sell it myself. Highly recommend.

Super convenient surfboard rental for my visit to Waikiki. I opted to do a week long rental (5-7…read moredays) for $150. They have a variety of long and shortboards to choose from, with the option to switch out boards during your rental period. You can either store surfboards there at the shop, or take them back to your hotel, which I did. I borrowed a 9' torq board, and they gave me the option to take wheels along with me to help move the board from place to place. This was SUPER helpful and I'd really recommend it. They also gave us a bar of wax to use during the week! There was one incident where I surfed too close to a shallow reef and my fin came loose, I brought it back to the shop and they were able to fix it promptly.  Staff were also really knowledgeable about the surf spots in Waikiki and gave us tips on where to go based on our skill level. I'd gladly come here again!

I have stopped in here over the years, to check in on board rentals for visiting relatives, etc…read more They have a nice selection of just about everything you need, fins, wax, rash guards, bodyboards and fins, surboards and rentals, etc. With the covid-19 shut downs, it was difficult to find surf shops open, just to buy wax. Things are still shut down, but Koa board Sports will let you do in-store shopping. All you have to do is call the number, and within a few minutes they will open the shop for you. I needed to buy a new fin for my longboard, and they have an excellent assortment of used fins at reasonable prices. Picked up a used 10 inch fin for $40 and it was just what I needed for my 9' 9" longboard! They also have a good selection of newer fins from different manufacturers, but the used fin was exactly what I wanted, so no need buy new. I came by another time and picked up a leash, and another time they opened up so that I could look through their rash guards. So yes, a little humbug to have to call the number and wait a couple of minutes for them to come down and open the shop, but they are still making themselves available to their customers. Parking is easy, just park right in front of the shop. You won't find a better selection in the Waikiki area.

From the newest creations of shapers to their used board rack (where I have found some of my absolute favorite boards over the years) to the pieces of history and craftsmanship on the wood-board rack when you walk in - there is something for just about everyone! Plus, the place has a delightful feel to it. It's not trying to look like or be a corporate business. It feels like a friend made a place to share what he loves with me / you. I've visited this official Snoopy themed shop (and the one in Haleiwa) during both of my latest…read moreOahu trips. As an avid Peanuts/Snoopy fan, both times I was so excited to visit and made a point of fitting it into the itinerary. However, the main reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the particularly high price point for what it is. Most items are priced higher than other similarly themed, small shops in Honolulu. For instance, some stickers here are in the $5.50 range instead of $3-$4 range. Basic thin canvas tote bags are about $40. It starts to feel like they're really taking advantage of fans and tourists and push a higher limit simply because "they can." The selection is really cute though, and items do sell out. So your options really depend on when you happen to visit. My first time in October 2023, both locations were all out of crossbody tote bags. This time around (February 2026), they were available in both locations. Many of the other items were the same both times, but there were maybe a few new designs. Also, this time around there were none available plushie keychains, which I neglected to purchase the first time around as they're over $20 each. This is just outside the Waikiki beachfront area, so not really easily walkable from there. Parking is street parking. You might have to loop around a couple of times, but it shouldn't take too long. Service here isn't particularly noteworthy, but efficient, especially given lots of tourists who visit, especially popular with Japanese.

It is a small shop, lots of tourists so it is a bit crowded so a little difficult to navigate around the store. There are lots of cute merchandise, a bit pricey but fun things to buy. If you are a Snoopy fan, drop in and look at the variety of things to buy.
