We absolutely love Kai sushi! It is somewhat of a hidden gem, but has an amazing selection of unique sushi rolls, we have explored a wide variety of their menu at multiple visits and have never been disappointed. Would definitely recommend asking for Jana to be your server, she's the best!!!

God, I love this place! Whether I'm grabbing a solo meal at the bar or taking sushi home for the whole family, the experience is always amazing. The food is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and consistently delicious. They always greet me with a smile, which makes coming here even better.

Went to Kai Sushi on a Thursday and had a great experience overall. Service was attentive and fast. The food came out quickly and everything we tried was really good and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was relaxed and clean, which made it a nice place to sit and enjoy the meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only downside was that they don't serve alcohol, which was a little disappointing. Other than that, solid spot for sushi and I'd definitely go back.

We tried Kai Sushi for an early supper one late Saturday afternoon. It was very good. My dining partner ordered his usual Cali Roll and I did some sampling. We will definitely return !

We came out of Saturday early afternoon, and the restaurant has a few tables occupied. They make an effort to welcome everyone as they enter the restaurant, which is a nice touch. Service is very attentive. Now when it comes to the food, we enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the sashimi samplers from the appetizer/starter section of the menu. The sampler came with 11 pieces of fish some come with two while others come with individual pieces. Their fish are very fresh and sweet. Aside from the sashimi samplers we also got the rainbow roll, tuna roll from the gluten-free section, tempura udon noodle soup and chicken teriyaki Bento box from the kids menu. Fish and these rolls were fresh as well. They were also very generous with the tuna in the tuna roll. I'm glad they offer gluten-free option, including a choice of gluten-free soy sauce. Udon yo soup was yummy and flavorful, and the bowl comes with a nice variety of imitation crab and other fresh vegetables. Udon came with three pieces of nicely battered vegetable tempura We also tried their mochi ice cream which came with strawberry and chocolate flavors. Overall, a solid sushi restaurant, especially in this part of town. We will come back.

Enjoyed a quick lunch special at Kai today. It was good but nothing special - a solid 4 star experience. I ordered the 5 pieces of chef selected sushi + 1 Maki roll deal for $21. Slightly overpriced for the quality in my opinion. I selected the dragon roll, which was a tad too sweet for my taste. The nigiri had a good fish to rice ratio and flavorful fish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Attentive service and a clean, modern space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Update (a little over a year later): Still amazing. Still BYOB (extra points here). The food, the service, everything. This is in my top favorites of restaurants.

Kai sushi is always solid. The staff is super attentive, polite, and friendly. The food is fresh and the crispy rice appetizer is a great palette starter and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the establishment is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend for lunch/dinner that's both delicious and reasonably priced.

Ahh I really had high hopes for this place because it came highly recommended and we came for a bday party. It is really far from me too. I am giving it a generous 3 only because the staff and owner is really nice. And some of the sushi was pretty fresh and tasted good. The staff was very attentive and helpful and it's hard to rate them this way but I have to in hopes they know and maybe change in some way. First there is no parking and the wait for the sushi boat was long BUT that's not why I had to rate low. After eating and indulging our group left and one in our party got very sick. I thought she was having a heart attack but it turned out to be food poison. She was so sick. If it was an isolated incident we can chalk it up to indigestion or something but then another person in our party got sick too. We didn't find out until later. She was in the toilet all night and was still sick the next day. Out of our party of 7, 2 got so sick. So now I am so weary and most likely will not return. The place wasn't the cleanest. The table next to us had a baby who threw rice all over the floor lol but It's a small restaurant and it was busy that night. My miso soup tasted fine. The apps were ok, the squid balls were questionable. I ate it but idk if that's what made my friend sick. The salad was good. The tofu was good. I didn't eat the edamame. But the highlight was the boat it was beautiful. And every piece of sushi and sashimi I had was good. Pretty fresh but not the best sushi I've had and the rice is a bit too hard for my liking. The rice reminded me of HEB sushi rice which is sad. BUT the few pieces of sushi and sashimi fish I had wasn't bad. It was good. They grill the head of the fish after you've eaten. It was not bad. They even gave us a dessert for the bday girls. I only had a bite. However the experience of driving my friend home, worrying about her, thinking we were going to have an accident because I thought she was having a heart attack mars the whole dinner experience. And then finding out another friend had major tummy issues and couldn't eat the next day put the nail on the coffin. Will not be coming back sorry. But the boat made for a pretty pic! Hope you all have a better experience.

The first time that I tried Kai Sushi was during the pandemic. My experience was alright but really not worth noting as I only picked it up. This time around I was able to sit and order at the restaurant. I brought my niece here as sushi was on her list of accepted meals after a long soccer tournament. We had a wonderful experience and wonderful service, so kind and authentic. Our food was delicious and we could not have left happier. I look forward to making more time to come and sit to enjoy the experience more often than not. This is also a great spot for a date night, very intimate and I'd say mostly quiet.

We wanted a nice Sushi place close to Cedar Park and found Kai Sushi with great reviews in Yelp! What a nice meal! We had the lunch special with nigiri and a roll, including a salad with the most delicious dressing and a Miso soup. Service was quick and very friendly, the place is super cozy, a touch romantic and rather quiet. The food was delicious, we tried the Vegas roll and the deep fried shrimp tempura with avocado one. I will definitely be back! Super!!!

I went here a while ago with my friends and this place is SO GOOD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance of this place is super cool and it's so relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was really good and the server was very nice and understanding. I can't eat certain meats so I asked her a few questions, she answered them very patiently and she was curious about my culture so she asked a few questions very politely. The prices for the food were reasonable. The food was great and we all enjoyed. We all got the chicken katsu, the the proportions were really good, the crunch on the chicken was crazy, and it came with so much food and side dishes to go with such as miso soup, dumplings, sushi, rice, and salad. The salad had such a fresh and new taste to it which I really really enjoyed.

The moment you enter, you're greeted with the gentle buzz of happy diners and the clean, modern aesthetic of a place that takes pride in its craft. The sushi itself is the star. Each piece arrives with precise cuts, balanced seasoning, and that unmistakable freshness that tells you the chefs care about both sourcing and technique. I can see this being a casual and intimate date spot, without venturing into too fancy of a dinner. We got the Fire dragon roll - we mostly ordered this for the spectacle because we saw on the menu that it would be on fire. And it was so cool! It's completely wrapped in foil while on fire, which isn't as cool, but it was still cool regardless. But eating it, this was our favorite that we tried. The eel is so soft, it just melts in your mouth. And the fire in the foil makes the roll so warm and creamy. Which I know isn't something you really want when you think sushi, but it was so good. The rollercoaster roll - I think the taste of this roll wasn't necessarily anything special. It was good and it had a little spicy kick. But what set it apart was the tempura inside gave it some crunchy bits that were fun to eat. Yellowtail tornado roll - I really liked the yellowtail in this roll! But I'm not the biggest fan of jalapeño, so this one was just okay for me. Lemon salmon roll - this roll was really light and refreshing! Probably my second favorite of the night. But the citrus flavor was pretty strong, since it had yuzu sauce and sliced lemon on top. I feel like I would have liked it more if it was just the yuzu without the lemon.

When we finally sat down at a regular table, we waited about 15 minutes without a server coming by. I eventually flagged a server down, and we got our order under way. We requested the manager stop by to tell him about the issue with the reservation and the fact that his hostess needs additional training, and surprise, the manager was also not helpful. He did apologize for our reservation being lost, but blamed it on the system and denied any responsibility for taking care of it - basically just told us that "life is life". He did not offer a discount or any kind of relief for the setbacks or bad service. I wasn't expecting the world or anything, but good hospitality dictates that you do more that basically tell us to just deal with it. For the food: the sushi was pretty gnarly - it looked like somebody was angry at the fish when they were slicing. Most things needed salt. Steak and fried rice was good, but the vegetables were pretty much raw. I can forgive quite a bit when it comes to service, especially on graduation/mother's day weekend. But honestly I'm a little impressed at how little the entire staff cared about their guests.

It was well rendered, if a bit salty for my taste, and medium spicy as requested (plenty spicy enough for me). I've since tried Typhoon Shelter Crab -- a first for me, a feast for the eyes and palate -- and the popular cold dish they call Sliced Beef & Tripe in Chili Sauce (夫妻肺片 in Mandarin, also known in English as 'Husband & Wife Lung Slices' and 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'). Shu Kitchen is very legit and more adventurous than your typical Chinese restaurants in the area (as you can easily tell by the number of Asian customers coming to their door). Although you can order standard dishes like stir-fries, fried rice combos, sesame, orange and General Tso's chicken, broccoli beef and stir-fried green beans, you can also get the likes of Shuwei Xuan Sichuan Spicy Blood Curd Stew (蜀味轩毛血旺), Boiled Bullfrog in Chili Sauce, Boiled Pork Intestines, Boiled Black Fish Filet in Chili Sauce, and one of my favorites, Hot and Sour Chicken Gizzard (sliced). The prices for some of the more esoteric/authentic dishes can run north of $35 and up to around $40, but this is not your typical Chinese fast food joint; the chef is experienced and the ingredients are carefully sourced. Housekeeping note: At this writing there is another Shu Kitchen listing at the same address, but this appears to have been changed from Sushi Express & Poke Bowl, which was at the same location but closed a while back.
