Sushi moto is a small but super vibey sushi restaurant with cool decorations, not too expensive food, and attentive service! Plus, the fish tastes pretty fresh! I can see this being a casual and intimate date spot, without venturing into too fancy of a dinner. We got the Fire dragon roll - we mostly ordered this for the spectacle because we saw on the menu that it would be on fire. And it was so cool! It's completely wrapped in foil while on fire, which isn't as cool, but it was still cool regardless. But eating it, this was our favorite that we tried. The eel is so soft, it just melts in your mouth. And the fire in the foil makes the roll so warm and creamy. Which I know isn't something you really want when you think sushi, but it was so good. The rollercoaster roll - I think the taste of this roll wasn't necessarily anything special. It was good and it had a little spicy kick. But what set it apart was the tempura inside gave it some crunchy bits that were fun to eat. Yellowtail tornado roll - I really liked the yellowtail in this roll! But I'm not the biggest fan of jalapeño, so this one was just okay for me. Lemon salmon roll - this roll was really light and refreshing! Probably my second favorite of the night. But the citrus flavor was pretty strong, since it had yuzu sauce and sliced lemon on top. I feel like I would have liked it more if it was just the yuzu without the lemon. read more

Little sushi spot in the heart of Cedar Park. Pretty bland strip mall location, but the restaurant is well decorated and cozy. I was one of two occupied tables in the restaurant but service was somehow still slower than I'd have preferred. That said, once I did get their attention they were very friendly. The sushi was of reasonably good quality - not great but not bad. I ordered the salmon roll and the fire dragon roll. The latter was torched and the presented beautifully (on fire). Stopped here for dinner coming home from Cedar Park. It is unassuming in a strip mall with ample parking (Yay!). Once inside it is cozy without feeling overcrowded. We had great service that quickly attended to our needs. It was great to see many regulars stop in while we were eating so we knew it had to be good. The miso soup was great. The Silver Sashimi was fresh and the fatty fish was melt in your mouth delicious. We also had the Avocado Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. All were delicious and I would recommend. Okay, why has nobody told me to go check out Sushi Moto is beyond me. This place is outstanding from service to food. You can just tell quality matters here. We came in for lunch so that of course might affect pricing due to their specials but I highly recommend coming in for them. Great pricing and amazing portions! I got the 2 roll + miso soup special and my partner got the cali roll + chefs choice special. We also ordered some spicy garlic edamame (not pictured sorry, we went into town so fast and could not stop ). The Philly rolls were so dang good and all the sushi pieces from chefs choice were phenomenal. Top quality fish and you could taste it. The area is small and cozy. Feels very home-y and authentic. We have been coming for too long and i should have written a review years ago. Wife and I love this place. It's small, personable, with the freshest sushi in the area. Rachel is always providing perfect service. This family run restaurants hands down is our favorite sushi. We try one thing new everytime, but we have tried most of it by now. Our favorites are the Edamame with their sauce! The cucumber roll is so fresh! The MVP beef set on fire roll is my wife's favorite. The fries octopus was amazing. This place is a little gem! We went for the first time as a part of 4 with 3 adults and 1 child. It's a tiny little place. No alcohol. We stayed and gave the food a true chance, sampling across different parts of the menu. We loved the appetiser sashimi! The ponzu sauce was amazing, better than the normal plain kind. I was in the area and decided to try this place and boy am I glad I did! This cute little sushi spot studio Ghibli inspired, and has some of the best sushi I've had! The decor is so beautiful and the music is great, mostly instrumental versions of the hits! I was seated immediately upon entering. I noticed that some of the chairs were made out of plastic. Particularly the chairs at the table next to me had tape on some of the legs. I was uncomfortable and nervous, sitting in such a fragile chair. I noticed the larger tables had wooden chairs so I asked, and I asked if I was able to use the wooden chair instead. They were so kind and accommodating allowing me to switch chairs, which made me so much more comfortable and able to focus on my meal. I love a place that's accessible to all! I ordered three rolls and they were all delicious! The spicy dragon roll ended up coming wrapped in foil and on fire! Not only was it tasty, it was also a beautiful show. The real winner for me was the surprising Yellowtail Fiesta: yellowtail sashimi dressed with truffle oil, Ponzu sauce, scallions, and Serano slices. Yes, they do have rolls and some cooked entrees if you dine with folks who are not into sushi. We are into sushi and are very particular where we eat sushi having been spoiled by Chef Andy at Soto. If Sotos is the OG then Moto is a strong second. Everything from our Miso soup to our Edamame and finally our entrees were spectacular. We opted for one of their sushi samplers. I added an order of king salmon. All the fish was fresh and had some interesting toppings (a hint really) to complement each selection. I believe one was roasted garlic. We were also gifted with an order of their truffle chu-toro sashimi. The thinly sliced toro was served with just the right amount of truffle oil and was spiced perfectly with wasabi and spicy ponzu. There are some very interesting menu options like baby octopus and calamari balls that I'll be enjoying on my return visit(s). Their lunch options look pretty darn good as well. For some reason, the fish just wasn't distinguishable from one another, they all tasted very similar and the toppings/taste were not remarkable. It was a good deal though for the price. TLDR: This is one of Cedar Park's hidden gems. Sushi Moto's got that Japanese family vibe, with fast and friendly service. The menu's extensive, with lots of rolls that cater to both an Asian and Western audience. (There's good quality uni available, as well as more American rolls that use cream cheese, for example.) Fried gyoza, tempura shrimp, and egg roll appetizers were uniformly freshly cooked and excellent all the way around. The eel roll, sphinx roll (fried roll with assorted chopped fish), sumo roll (tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado), all very good. The smelt eggs in sushi form was perfectly crisp. Of special mention is the spicy garlic edamame. Garlicy, slightly hot, and finger-licking good, I said that the sauce was so good that I'd eat it on chicken wings. Not to be outdone, my friend announced that he'd eat his own flip-flops with this sauce on it! Definite recommend, if you're in CP and need to get your sushi fix, this is the place to do it. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. We were wanting sushi and decided to try this place out. We had heard good things about this restaurant over the last year. The space inside is small and intimate, good for date nights. We opted for a Shy Geisha, Spicy Salmon Roll, and a Silver Sushi, which comes with 7 different nigiri pieces and a California roll. I also ordered a miso soup since it was a bit cold that evening. The miso soup was very well made, and seemed to have been made from scratch. It was one of the best miso soups I've had. The sushi and nigiri were good in the sense that the sauces and ingredients used were tasty and fresh. The biggest drawback is that the fish isn't fresh, and it made the difference between excellent sushi and mediocre sushi. I asked the server how frequently they get fresh fish, and she said 2x per week. We may have went on a night when the fish was already 3-4 days old, and it tasted like it as well. I get it that it's hard to find fresh fish in a city like Austin, but I've eaten at sushi restaurants farther inland, in Las Vegas, that have had fresher fish for about the same price as what Sushi Moto charges. I think for how expensive the sushi is at this restaurant, they should actively seek to increase their fish deliveries to 3-4 times per week. We probably won't go back. read more

Rolls were decent, didn't expect so much flavor, so they also raised the bar there! The Miso soup was delicious from the first sip, green tea was perfect for a weird cold Texas day. We order Sake, Hamachi, Maguro and Toro nigiri; absolutely mouth watering, we both said "mmmm" when we ate the Toro. We ordered the Sphinx roll and the Hello Moto; both were delicious. I can not sing more praises for Sushi Moto! I have been here several times over the last year or so. This is hands down one of the best sushi places to go in CP/Leander. The staff and Chef are extremely nice and accommodating. It can take some time on a busy night but just be prepared for that. It's worth the wait. We have had several rolls and sashimi and have always been very pleased. There was an appetizer that my husband ordered once that was octopus based and it wasn't great. However, he said that it was more about he wasn't sure what he was getting. They do have alcoholic beverages. The cucumber rolls (BTS) is one of the best I've ever had. The MVP roll is another favorite and the presentation is always fun. The spicy edamame and shishito peppers are great apps too. It's a small and intimate space so if you have a large party, make sure you call ahead to ask if they can accommodate. What a fantastic lunch we had in our neighborhood! I am so thrilled to have Sushi Moto in proximity and within the burbs of Cedar Park. My husband and I stopped by on a Friday for lunch and there was only one other couple who was dining in. We opted for the lunch combos which come with miso soup and delicious cuts of fresh fish. We also tried out their gyozas and takoyaki which come as 5 pieces (so hard to share sometimes when it's an odd number :p) I also did like the fact we got our own pitcher of water to self serve in refilling our water glasses! I came in yesterday to 'treat myself' for a nice Friday lunch* because I've earned it*! Here's the low-down: Lunch Special - the menu item comes with a choice of two select sushi roles and miso soup. I selected spicy crab and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna role was the stand-out of the two roles with the perfect combination of Sushi rice (steamed rice), nori (seaweed), and sashimi-grade tuna. The miso soup while good was a meager offering. Egg Roll- These egg rolls were a bit too greasy from me. It seemed as if the rolls were placed in the oil before the oil was hot which rendered the rolls soggy and flaccid. Spicy edamame- The aroma of garlic and salt definitely permeated throughout the entree but the edamame seasoning missed the mark a bit. The punch from the garlic was absent here.
