    AYCE sashimi
    Jinna R.

We stopped by for their AYCE. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, so parking is easy. We loved the front décor with the wooden slats and plants. The ambient lighting was nice, though it made the menu a bit hard for me to see, and there are plenty of tables inside. We went close to closing time for the lunch buffet, which wasn't ideal since we had to rush to order before last call (about 30 minutes before lunch ends). The staff were friendly and courteous. Sushi came out quickly, while items from the kitchen took a bit longer. Everything was fresh and delicious. We maxed out the sushi/sashimi limit on our first round. Our favorites were the takoyaki, meat skewers, stir-fried shrimp, some of the fried appetizers, and fried banana & green tea ice cream. The fried rice was bomb--great wok hei! One thing to note: if you're mainly a sushi/sashimi fan, you may not get your full money's worth due to the per-person limit. But if you enjoy regular sushi rolls (we usually skip rolls since they take up too much stomach real estate ) and a variety of appetizers and hot dishes, this AYCE is definitely worth it. Also, some grilled and stir-fried dishes come in full portions, so it's good to ask before ordering.

Solid AYCE sushi! Great food & service!! $38 dollar dinner price with plenty of option. I really like the shumai, the jalapeño yellowtail , the kimchi tuna, the jalapeño tuna, the super white tuna and the peppers tuna were all fresh and flavorful! I prefer the apps , sushimi and nigiri over the rolls here! 10/10 recommend!

We came around 4 PM on a Saturday and didn't have to wait. They offer both an à la carte menu and an AYCE option, which is $37.99 all week. If you choose AYCE, you're given one sushi menu and one kitchen menu to mark up. The server goes over the specials and any limited sushi items before you order. The staff was very attentive, though the food took a bit of time to come out. Unfortunately, we found the fish to be not fresh at all--probably the worst sashimi/nigiri we've had. That said, the tempura items were solid. The chashu ramen was just okay, and the pork belly bun wasn't bad, but the pork belly skewer was overcooked and extremely dry. The meal ended on a sweet note with the tempura Oreo and ice cream, which was a fun touch. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal was the spicy edamame. If you're looking for quality sushi, I'd recommend going to an omakase spot instead.

I visited the place yesterday and got the Ayce deal. There were not that many people around at 7 pm. They have a variety of sushi and kitchen items available. The sashimi was easily one of the best I ever had. It did not taste fishy at all and it tasted fresh. The salmon nigiri had a somewhat of a good rice to fish ratio with just a tad too much rice for my liking. The staff were really nice and efficient in bringing out the food in a quickly manner. I always like to end off with some edamame and some ice cream.

My wife and I used to loooove this place. But, the taste has changed across most of the dishes. Some of the dishes are still very good, but some of our favorites aren't what they used to be. And, maybe we caught them on an "off night", but the service isn't what it used to be either. I think our waiter lost patience for us cause he never wants to come around. Hopefully it's a temporary thing. If we come back, we'll update the review.

I can see why this place was packed when we arrived. With only a 10 minute wait, we were seated by a friendly waitress. The restaurant is small, but cute and very clean! Love the murals on the walls. The food was so good!!! We each had the all you can eat sushi. The eel roll is quite literally THE BEST I've ever had. Will definitely come back, 10/10!

The sushi was great and fresh! I liked their king salmon special and their rolls were good. The takoyaki was really good as well. I wish for the prices that you can order more sashimi than just the 3 piece per person. I also thought that they had too much rice to fish ratio for their nigiri. The food came out quick and the workers were really nice and attentive.

Really great service! Food comes out quick even on a Sunday! We were sat right away without reservation. Dining room is clean with soft music playing. My favorites were the pepper tuna sashimi and tempura scallops. I will definitely be back thanks sushi bang bang!

Came here after the gym to try out a new sushi spot. I tried their lunch specials. It's a great deal because during lunch all rolls and items on the menu are 50% off. I had a spicy tuna hand roll, glass of wine and the geisha roll. All were delicious. The day was hot so it was nice to sit in a dim chill corner on my own to unwind. Servers were nice and attentive. I will be back when I'm in the area. I'll snap some photos of the food next time.

A hidden gem in the chaotic 183 area!!! We waited for thirty minutes as walk in on a Sunday and were seated in a comfy corner. Perfect decoration I did not mind the wait for the food as I looked at the wall mural. I ordered three kinds of sashimi and loved it. We celebrated my friend's birthday and we capped the night by having dinner here. We ordered edamame (yummy), calamari (ok), seafood ramen, steak, beef teriyaki, and lots of other main dish. Presentation was perfect. Servers were polite. Definitely coming back!

Very cute sushi place! Staff are very pleasant. We went overboard on the all you can eat. Amazing selection of appetizers and sushi. I love when you can get non rice stuff like sashimi and skewers. The pork belly skewer was my favorite. Also loved the pink lady roll. The tempura Oreo was delicious and the green tea ice cream was dark and rich!

When I finally did, I discovered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Austin. Okay ... if you are going to pay $600 for an omikase then the omikase place is better. The tasting menu at Uchi is better. But if you just want Japanese without paying a gold brick and taking out a second mortgage on your house, Miyo Yakitori and Sushi is pretty damm fine. * * * a) Japanese curry is a utility dish in most Japanese restaurants ... and when you get down to it, in most Japanese homes. It is often what you serve on "cheap" night. Airport hotels offer it as the "free dinner" for tired travellers. The curry sauce itself here is standard issue. But they serve it with a Pork Katsu the size of Williamson county. And it is a very good Pork Katsu. That Katsu was good from Liberty Hill to Thrall and from Hester's Crossing to Jarrell. b) My carnivorous partner's Fireball Udon with Shellfish blew him away. Temperature wise and aesthetic pleasure wise. He raved about how good his udon was all the way home. c) Service was instantaneous. I think there was some sort of event horizon distortion of the space time continuum that allowed them to prepare the food and then go back in time and deliver it within a minute of it being ordered. Both of us were impressed. d) The service staff was as nice as any human beings could possibly be. * * * Great food. Great service. The folks who live in the apartment complex that Miyo is in are very lucky people indeed. Either the apartments are lovely and they get Miyo on top of that. Or the apartments are terrible, but they can still spend all their time in Miyo to compensate. Seems like a fair trade. **************** If you read the other reviews, There seems to be some controversy about this establishment. Miyo has fans and Miyo has haters. * * * Here is my read on the conflicting opinions: a) Earlier in the restaurant's history - Say about 2016, 17, or 18, The restaurant was not very good at all. I think at that time it had another name. b) There was a name change and quality went up. Sometimes when this happens there is an ownership change (or there is an owner who swaps out the management and cooking team to put in new blood.) However, things got fixed, they got fixed. c) Miyo's yakitori is apparently still not where it needs to be. I am not a huge Yakitori fan. If your broiled meat on a stick is not $80 an ounce Wagyu, Or amazing organ meats grilled in the Caucasus Barded with lamb fat and with farm fresh vegetables On another skewer for serious taste contrast ... If you are not at that high level, I don't want to pay for meat on a skewer. There are people who DO like Yakitori. They do NOT like the Miyo versions of that. * * * Yakitori is less than 20% of Miyo's menu. The rest is sushi or wonderful cooked dishes. Lay off the skewer food and you can do well here.

Parking for the stores is a quick right turn after driving into the complex. Seating is available both indoors and outside on a shady deck. This is not a large restaurant, but the menu is extensive. Many items are a la carte, but there are also full meals with several included sides. A 2-page lunch menu is at the back of the main menu. We opted for edamame to start, a few skewers of yakitori, and 2 lunch special bento boxes. We were amazed by the amount of food in the lunch bento boxes. On top of that, everything tasted fresh and was obviously freshly prepared. My salmon was way overcooked but the tasty teriyaki sauce made up for it. My daughter's pork looked fabulous and she was very pleased with her choice. I thought that pricing was very reasonable given the quality and portion size. We ended up taking food home. We thoroughly enjoyed our extended lunch and would not hesitate to return.

After reading all the 5 star reviews I was feeling very hopeful with high expectations of the food. We ordered most of the recommended items as well as my favorite nigiri pieces one can't really go wrong with. Hamachi carpaccio 5/5 - this was the first thing that came out and really enjoyed this dish. Really great flavor and very citrusy Yuki roll - Not gonna lie but this had similar flavor profile as the hamachi carpaccio so wasn't as impressed. Also I noticed the texture of the hamachi was really soft and not as firm as I am usually used to Salmon belly nigiri - didn't love it, honestly was a bit fishy King salmon nigiri - this is when we started noticing that most of the fish has this soft, gummy like texture which makes it unappealing to eat, didn't love this one either Dry aged hamachi nigiri - appreciated the size of the fish but again experienced that mushy like texture which overwhelms the eating experience because I didn't want to keep chewing it let alone eat it Santa Barbara Uni nigiri - it was meh nothing special Scallop nigiri - the way it was served it was impossible to eat because it wasn't sliced in a way to eat it properly. I literally didn't eat it because it was served as a whole scallop vertically on the rice Snow trout (special) nigiri - looked promising but again it had that unpleasant texture which by this point we wanted to stop eating overall because it was making it hard to enjoy Big toro roll (which came out last) - definitely the most disappointing we barely ate it and even the toro on top and the toro mixture in the middle also had that odd texture that made all the fish taste the same like gummy mush we barely ate it and actually left most of it uneaten Though the food felt very overhyped and was extremely underwhelming, the service we received from the waiters was very good. I'm truly hoping we went on an off night but even then I don't think we would return.

I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! Very happy with this meal and definitely excited to return again.

They each put on a show--flipping and tossing utensils and one of the chefs adds quite a bit of comedy and another level of skill. They also have everyone try to catch bits of shrimp that are launched through the air. Unfortunately, one of the chefs, who has been there for years, comes across as disinterested and, to make it worse, he doesn't season the food very much, so it comes out bland. That being said, recommend.

I sat at the bar with friends. The bartender, who I believe was also the restaurant manager, was…read morefriendly and attentive. I ordered the peach martini; it was good but a little sweet for me. My first roll was good, but I'd skipped lunch so ordered a second roll. The Nagoya roll was amazing! Everything was so fresh, and the composition was perfect! I wasn't aware of this restaurant before, but I will definitely be back.
