First impressions: The store front is a well stocked pet supply store, very clean and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog. She received a wonderful haircut, nails were clipped and ears were cleaned. Instead of the usual 5-6 hour timeframe , she was ready to be picked up in less then two hours (meaning not being held in a crate while they service several dogs in a assembly line style). She was calm and happy when I picked her up. We were so pleased that I have scheduled here next appointment. I highly recommend Petz Place for grooming and pet needs.

It became clear over time that the team is not properly trained in handling different dog personalities, especially more sensitive or anxious breeds. My dog became extremely scared during his appointments, to the point where it was obvious something was hurting him. No pet owner should have to pick up their dog shaking or extremely distressed after grooming. I expected a higher level of professionalism, patience, and knowledge from a national pet company. I hope Petco invests in better training for their groomers so that other pets don't have to go through the same experience. I would never recommend them for my pets. The store lost all of my business too. If I could rate a zero that's what it would be.

Murphy-Lou is a fabulously happy goofball Coonhound -- loves people, loves dogs, interested in…read moreeverything, and absolutely willing to obey commands unless she's interested in something else at that moment like, say, a moth or shadow or yummy smelling thing -- so we have lots in common. She's a sweet girl who's transitioned wonderfully from a quiet rescue (at 9 months) to a fun, playful, obedient (well, mostly), and happy best friend. We set up four training sessions with Mike M. and had such a good and productive time that we did four more, and Murphy-Lou is doing great! She's mastered all the basics (i.e., sit, come, down, heel, off, place, etc.) and she no longer just ignores me when interested in something else, but turns to me glaring, "I am a Coonhound, you oaf, just one moment, there is a leaf here and I must give it appropriate consideration", and when finished she'll walk over and sit next to my foot. Mike is abundantly knowledgeable, experienced, patient, and super friendly... and he's also very considerate in trying not to sound critical of my own efforts training Murphy -- a couple of times I've told him, "don't worry about hurting my feelings, if I need to do something differently just let me know -- I'm the one who needs training!" He's just a really good guy and fun to work with and I recommend him to anyone who's genuinely interested in learning to train the pups! (We're gonna do more work with him!)

Following my initial review, the management team reached out to get my side of the story about Koda's situation. I provided the details, including that Koda was healthy going into the spay surgery but has struggled to walk properly ever since. Naturally, we were hopeful, thinking they would do the right thing. They set us up with a neurologist vet for an initial exam to see if they could proceed with an MRI, with the intention of determining if Lovet would cover the cost. We went to the neurologist on 6/28/2025 for the initial exam to evaluate whether the MRI would be covered. Fast forward to 7/19/2026, and I received a call from a Lovet vet informing me that they would NOT be paying for the MRI. Their reasoning? They still don't believe it's their fault. The neurologist vet has stated that while it's not impossible, further testing--like an MRI--is necessary to rule out possible causes. But the only thing the initial exam involved was watching Koda walk and testing her reflexes. How can this possibly determine if the vet is at fault or not? I'm very aware that I am not a medical professional, but this doesn't feel right. I've told them I will appeal this decision, and I will not stop until Koda gets the justice she deserves. And to top it all off, they refuse to provide me with a contact number to speak with someone at their corporate office who made this decision.

My dog was well treated and received a thorough examination prior to receiving her shots that are required every 3 years. They also were able to get me in with only a few days notice whereas my prior veterinarian needed over a month for routine visit to be scheduled.
