I began bringing my goldendoodle to Petco's grooming department since he was about six months old, and unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. It became clear over time that the team is not properly trained in handling different dog personalities, especially more sensitive or anxious breeds. My dog became extremely scared during his appointments, to the point where it was obvious something was hurting him. No pet owner should have to pick up their dog shaking or extremely distressed after grooming. I expected a higher level of professionalism, patience, and knowledge from a national pet company. I hope Petco invests in better training for their groomers so that other pets don't have to go through the same experience. I would never recommend them for my pets. The store lost all of my business too. If I could rate a zero that's what it would be. read more

I set up an appointment 2 weeks ago. The online system asked if my dog had any health concerns. He's an older dog so of course he has a health issue and I declared it as I should. Today, a few hours before our grooming appointment I got a voicemail from a number that looked like spam that showed as Food Fo Dogs. The voicemail said that our groomer called out today, but that since our dog has a health issue (that is age related and not contagious) they would rather we take him to our vet to be groomed. Our vet does not groom dogs because she has more urgent things to attend to. I am beyond angry because they had the information about our dog for a couple of weeks and couldn't bother to call to discuss his health issue, rather they left me hanging at the last minute and now I have to try to find another more professional groomer to get him on the schedule. I can now see why they have only 2 stars, they are beyond unprofessional. Just so you know Petco, you won't have any of my business, this doesn't just impact your grooming salon. Please don't take your dog to the VETCO Clinic here. Dr. Amber Fuller and the assistant Faith, are very rude and unprofessional. I've been to the clinic about 4 or 5 times to get my pup his shots. 1st time we paid for the bundle and they "forgot" to give my dog the Lepto shot. Which we specifically wanted because we are outdoors a lot of the time with our dogs. My dog is a Doberman and they are known to have their tail and ears cropped. Dr Fuller made comments about my dogs ears and was surprised that they still allow that saying poor thing. We have had the assistant Faith check us in almost every single time. On the last visit which was today. I had my nephew with me and my pup. We walked in there was a husky barking at everything. We get in line in the aisle and this husky kept barking at every dog. So of course my pup is going to bark back. This is a clinic and a cheaper route for most people so usually you have to stay in a line in the aisle where there are multiple dogs around you. I don't have any issue with that but what I have an issue with is Faith singling my pup out of the mix. I was in the back of the line and Faith the assistant went all the way around the aisle to tell me to please move into another aisle. I was honestly shocked because multiple dogs were barking not only mine. The husky in the front of the line was causing the issue which was already next to check in. But I agreed and went into the other aisle where she said to go. And as I'm waiting with my nephew and pup multiple people are getting in line and getting checked in. I'm pissed at this point! I had move myself into the front and stare at her to realize hey what about us for her to finally come by us and continuously apologize. She checked us in and then proceeded to tell me. "Im sorry but is there any way you can go back to the spot you were waiting before and I'll just have to doctor come get you?" Like what! I have never had any issue before with my dog sitting in line with every other dog but this by far was the worst experience I have ever had because of her and Dr. Amber Fuller. I was already annoyed and irritated at this. And what topped the cake was when Dr. Amber Fuller came and got us and told me that on my account it looks like my dog was put down as Very Aggressive and Very reactive! I was like you gotta be joking as my dog was giving the vet tech kisses. Then she kept apologizing after I said well that is really good information to know. She said well it must have been a mistake and I'll just delete from your account. Thank god it was my pups last visit with them! It seems they can't handle large dog breeds even if they're puppies otherwise you might just get an opinion when you didn't ask for one. And yes I did call to make a complaint but they were also useless they said they would just add a note to my account. I have my pet groomed about every 6-7 weeks at her previous groomer. We moved from another state so we needed a new groomer. We chose to utilize the grooming services here at Petco and wow! 3 hours to wash and trim my small 12 lb dog. Mind you trim, turned into a hacking of her in all part of her body. Previous groomer took max 50 min and was done beautifully and they actually get your dog in at their specified appointment time. Here they schedule in 15 min intervals it appears and youre pet sits and waits and waits for thier scheduled time. Then the groomer tending to my dog is also the front desk checking in every dog every 15 min and my dog takes 3 hours. What a joke, and for 80$ after tip, no teeth brushing either. Why would you have prices that are 3 times the exact same item is on your website? Website lists the kennel as $39.99, get to the store and it was $120. When I ask them about it they say that is online only special. Website doesn't say it is online only. This is why big box retailers can't keep up. I would not recommend this store for dog grooming. I brought my 2 year old doodle in about a week ago for a bath and haircut. He did have some matting and we brought him in knowing he would need to be cut short because of this. When we picked him up he still had patches of matted hair on his body and his feet were not trimmed properly. We had to bring him back inside to fix this. He also had red cuts all over his body. These turned into sores that grew and bubbled and then popped, each sore spilling pus and blood. This happens when the skin is irritated and and then contaminated by a fungus. (Post Grooming Furunculosis- Large-breed dogs with thick wiry or short coats may be more commonly affected. The skin lesions on the neck, back, and tail are often painful. In thick-furred dogs (ex. German shepherds, Labrador retrievers, Golden retrievers, Welsh Corgis), the red, crusted, oozing lesions may be hidden by the fur, so shaving is sometimes needed to better visualize. The majority of patients feel systemically unwell with lethargy, fever, and sometimes, gastrointestinal signs. These systemic signs develop because of toxins released by the bacteria in the skin.) on top of this, he displayed other symptoms including bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. This can be avoided by disinfecting grooming equipment regularly and dumping soap daily that has been diluted with water. Tools should be dried completely. Overall, on top of the grooming cost, we spent another 500+ at the vet for treatment. I would avoid this place for grooming at all costs. read more

Made an appointment for my pets shot, notified them I was waiting outside (as directed), received a text "yeah, you are next". Went in to the reception area and the receptionist was welcoming a walk in. Took about five minutes, then she looks at me and says you're next. Why the fuck have an appointment if you are going to be placed after walk-ins? KIT helped us out. She did a great job assisting us with picking fish and then making sure we had all the right materials for setting up our fish tank. It looks beautiful and the fish are all doing fantastic. I appreciated her patience in explaining why certain fish I wanted wouldn't do well in a tank together and directed me to better "tank mates', even though the fish I wanted were more expensive. Saved me from having to deal with fish aggression, which I guess is a thing. I appreciate the honesty and not just trying to make a sale. I will go to this Petco for all my pet needs. read more

Avoid this one very young immature adults working here. They also seem to be out of stock on items all the time. I went to the register to buy special perscription only cat food. The cashier acted like I was speaking another language. She got another more knowledgeable person to help that. I recently adopted a mini poodle and have never had a little dog before so I am not used to going to a groomer. I took her to a groomer that charged a fortune and didn't do a great job on her cut. I decided to give Petco a try because it is close to home and their prices were reasonable. My groomer Laura did an amazing job! She was patient with my dog, who is a rescue and very easily scared. She listened to what I wanted and did exactly that. I have also started taking my older lab to her for the de-shedding treatment and regular bathing. I am absolutely amazed at how much his shedding has decreased. It took a few times before I started to notice but now I won't go without it. If you are looking for a groomer who will treat your furry kids with care go see Laura. I can tell she genuinely loves dogs and will treat them right. read more

Weevils in their pet bar treats! When I tried to return a bag of treats crawling with weevils, I was told "that's just a common problem with that product." Really?! Since the bugs didn't appear immediately, it means the treats contain the eggs. Not something I want to feed my dog or bring into my house. After a hassle to return them, I was scolded by the cashier that they would allow the refund "only this one time." On 4/22/16 at around 6pm, I walked in to this store off Pebble Creek Pkwy to check on their Vetco for dog vaccines. I went to their restroom and is one of the worst restroom I have seen locally. They have a sign on the restroom that "THEY PRIDE THEMSELVES" for having a clean and supplied restroom. This restroom was disgusting, I'm sure it was clean in weeks. I would like to thank Consuelo for grooming our dog, Shadd. Consuelo groomed Shadd nicely, and commented to me about his right paw was "nicked" by the crate after grooming. Shadd was experiencing pain in his right paw on Friday, April 19th, and as the salon knows, I called and spoke with Cathy about it. I took him into Goodyear Animal Hospital, and they diagnosed his inner "webbing" of his paw as tender.
