We recently moved to Goodyear and we have tried a couple of groomers that fell short on service and/or skill. Then we found Petz Place! We have a small (20 lb) American Cocker Spaniel rescue. We learned that Petz Place was recently purchased by a Veterinarian and is under new management. First impressions: The store front is a well stocked pet supply store, very clean and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog. She received a wonderful haircut, nails were clipped and ears were cleaned. Instead of the usual 5-6 hour timeframe , she was ready to be picked up in less then two hours (meaning not being held in a crate while they service several dogs in a assembly line style). She was calm and happy when I picked her up. We were so pleased that I have scheduled here next appointment. I highly recommend Petz Place for grooming and pet needs. read more

Wow we live in Goodyear and we have been searching for a good pet store. Love to support small businesses as well. We have been disappointed so far. However this shop top notch. We drop our poor matted dog off and expected a large grooming bill like to other shops. Nope the bill was reasonably low. First, know the great comments came before ownership change Sept, 26. I took my 2 westies in for a full grooming service with Michelle. Not going into details, but after spending 75.00 each, they came out looking like they did when I dropped them off except - they had a good nail trim which gives her 1 star. However, my female came back with a different collar; I;m not sure how that happened considering her name and phone # were printed on the collar! Upon picking them up, I was told my dogs are 'crazy' as she could not handle either of the dogs. When I contacted the owner via the website, I did receive a call back and this person was so irrate with me, blaming everything on me and my terrible dogs and not letting me get a word in. I'm certain she will respond in a blaming tone to this review so please just be cautious taking your pups to get groomed. My dogs have both been groomed in the past at other places and I only get positive feedback and wonderful grooming services. This business underwent new ownership back in September which I was unaware of when I scheduled the appointment. What use to be an awesome place, giving back a fluffy, white, happy westie has sold to unprofessional, unskilled owner who cares only about getting your money and not service quality! read more

Beware I have been buying my dog food here for five years which I will no longer will be doing. I made an appointment with their groomers on July 24th and they gave me an appointment fort Aug. 8th in the morning I asked for an email to confirm the appointment but never received one. I called today to check the time of the appointment and said I did not have an appointment until the 26th. LAIRS I let loose on them. They truly are dishonest and they suck. All you have to do is look at all their one star reviews if there was a zero star I would have given it they also took a $20 deposit which I have not gotten back. They Fn SUCK read more

This place was Amazing, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile by the lady at the register "Kay" thank you so much for your kindness, then the groomer "Yesenia" came out and got Lola, she asked me exactly what i wanted done to Lola and how short I wanted Lola's hair to be, Yesenia did and AMAZING job she cleaned her up so well and trimmed all around her paws too and she was also so sweet kind and gentle with Lola!! I've been taking my dog there for about a year and it was great. The groomer that used to grrom him left and the past 2 visits have been horrible. I booked him for a bath, and when I picked him up, his face was still dirty and he still had poop on his butt. Three weeks later, I took him for a full Groom and I just noticed a day later that he has a huge cut near his private area. He's so incredibly uncomfortable. I feel so bad for him. These people go to school to learn how to Groom I don't know how you don't wash a dog's face or how you cut them as bad as he was cut. I would not recommend. read more

What a great pet store! Was in the area and happened to see the sign, and when you have animals you always need something, even if you're not sure what! Was greeted by very helpful and pleasant staff. While browsing, was impressed not just by their selection of food, but everything else as well. It really is 'just the good stuff'. Found styptic powder as though trimming our old dog's nails isn't an issue, it's in the back of my mind that we didn't have any styptic powder on hand if we did have a nick. Now I can relax! Hiring groomers that know what they are doing. My first visit there and my little Shih Tzu has bald spots on her chest. Hair around mouth choppy, assuming no scissors were used just clippers. Tail partially shaved, long spots of hair on chest and stomach and pretty much shaved everywhere else. I called and spoke with Tony the sales manager and he said Wayne the grooming manager would call me back. I have not received a call back, and sales manager Tony was rather rude. I would give this place a 0 if I could for professionalism and customer service! read more

I'm not too upset about bc it happens, but worth mentioning bc it's worse than usual - didn't trim top of his head or ears. They have such high quality treats and food. The rating for the store is 5, the rating for grooming is 0, thus the 3 stars. The store itself, I would give a 5 star rating. I've shopped here since they opened and they have been nothing but friendly and helpful. The grooming is horrible. To make a long story short, I waited 4 weeks for a specific groomer and when I got there, they said it wasn't annotated on my appt and that particular groomer was booked. They gave me another groomer who did a horrible hack job on my puppy's first haircut! The body of the puppy didn't look cut at all, and the part that was cut (mostly his face) was choppy. When I questioned the cut, the groomer said he would fix it. My puppy is a yorkie and instead of using scissors on his face, he was trying to cut it with shears and wasn't touching the main part of his body! I asked for the owner and when he arrived, I said I didn't want the groomer hacking on my dog anymore and wanted him back immediately, which they brought him to me. That groomer should not be cutting yorkies (which I found out that this wasn't the first complaint about this groomer). The owner was apologetic, offered to have another groomer 'fix' the haircut, and didn't charge me for the grooming. This appt was a nightmare from the start and unfortunately, I just don't trust them to groom my dogs again. read more

This is really for the grooming section. We had an appt. for our Australian Sheppard to be groomed this morning. I called last week to guarantee that they knew how to groom a double coated dog since the price quote was so cheap? They assured me it would be fine. When my husband dropped him off, he again asked them about the double coat & he specially said we didn't want him shaved. Well when we picked him up, they had shaved him! That is so bad for a double coated dog! We will not be going back there & I recommend anyone with a collie or similar NOT TO GO TO Petz Place!!! I should have looked at the reviews!! read more

I took my 11-pound dog in to get groomed, she hadn't been groomed for a couple of months and I asked Robert if he could be gentle with her, I told him I understood he would have to cut off her skirt, but please just trim her face, I even showed him a picture of her and he said he would do what he could. I picked her up a couple hours later and was appalled that Robert had completely shaved her, he cut off her beard, eye brows and skirt. Her head and ears were all choppy and irregular. By the cut he gave her you would never know what type of dog she is. Worse grooming I've ever seen. I definitely won't be back there for any grooming. read more

I am extremely disappointed in how my dog was groomed today! First off, the groomers should know you never shave an Aussie dog. We asked for a light trim of the butt and it was completely shaved off. I will never take my dog to this establishment again if you can't follow simple instructions on how to groom a dog! My dog is completely exposed because of this horrible cut that was made. I placed a before picture, so you can tell me if that was a light trim. You don't trim an Ausssie this low. Hopefully, no one else has to go through this. I have no idea how you feel that this is acceptable, I could have done a better job myself. Just got an apology, but that doesn't put the hair back on my dog. Now, my poor girl has to walk exposed until it grows back. It is completely unacceptable to trim her this close to her private area, to where she is bothered by it. I have been bringing my dogs to be groomed here for years by Tricia who was recommended to me by a friend. However I had to leave on an emergency trip and had to have my sister bring in my dogs. Apparently she dropped them off 10 minutes late. I had no service and in that 10 minutes I had 3-4 voicemails left by Tricia herself that were a bit snotty saying that if we weren't going to show up we needed to call. I have NEVER been late to an appointment with her prior to this. I've actually changed my schedule to accommodate her. We have moved groomers. read more

This place is a joke with the worst customer service I've ever been given from any groomer I've used for my dog. I was going to be 9min late for my grooming appt and called them to let them know in advance so I knew if it would be ok to bring my dog still and they proceeded to tell me as long as I was there within a certain time frame, which I was they then tell me the groomer no longer wanted to see my dog but no explanation as to why they wouldn't honor what I was just told over the telephone or why groomer didn't want to see my dog anymore. What was the point of telling me to get there before certain time I then do for them to not see my dog after all. So they had me drive up there all for nothing bcuz they weren't going to honor what was first said. The manager sided with groomer but still no explanation and was very rude to me. I'm standing there with my dog not being heard about what just happened and how I made it in time frame but she still turned me away. So I left upset saying I wouldn't bring my dog back but by the time my dog needed grooming again I was going to give them a sec chance and when I called them they were very nice at first till finding out our name then immediately put on hold forever when they came back they told me that my dog couldn't be groomed and reason was because of what I had said "I wasn't going to bring her back". They said it word for word like my folder was marked for everyone to see I felt discriminated against like my folder was marked with the Scarlett letter in red "do not make grooming appt with client bcuz she said she wouldn't be back. As if I'm not the customer and can't change my mind it's a business where I was supposed to have the choice whether to book there or not. But that's not how I was treated It's as if they had it against me and my dog before this staff member even tried helping me. After complaining again to manager again I was assured my folder would be updated and erased due to discrimination due to what was written about me in folder. She ended up getting my dog in one last time and that groomer did a HORRIBLE job with the choppy haircut she gave my girl dog making her look like a short haired boy which she had long white soft beautiful hair to begin with. I guess an trim meant taking clippers to her body which got short same length everywhere. Nothing like the very first grooming appt she had where they did a great job I was beyond impressed I gave a $20 tip my dog looked amazing with a scissor haircut no clippers used. But that was the last time I received stunning customer service. And just bcuz I was less than ten min late the next time and I was then refused service by the groomer. Makes no sense that the manager made her mind up after talking to the groomer and before even speaking to me or hearing my side. I wouldn't recommend this shop if it were the last one standing in Goodyear I'd drive 20+ miles away just to get the customer service I deserve as a paying customer. read more

I called and unfortunately they were booked out over a week but I was told I would receive a call back if something opened up.
