It was smelly belly! Also, it just seemed sad in there. "The animals get touched and groped all day by kids and screamed at" - a quote from my friend who went with me, it was sad. It just felt unethical all throughout. All of the animals had really small spaces. The birds in the store were shreeking and pulling out their feathers which is a sign of stress/boredom...very sad. I would not want to become a Pratt's Pet. The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that at least it was like a free petting zoo! I did not touch any animals though because I do not want rabies and/or covid. Anyway so look at this other photo that I posted, it's the owner's response to a negative review!! Customer appreciation day! I came late and missed out on the goodie bags. I love this location because parking is much easier than the Glendale location. They had drinks and chips on this special day in the year! Lots of cute animals: poultry, pot belly pigs, lion head rabbits, chinchilla and guinea pigs. They had dogs and cats and they also had kittens that needed rehoming for $50. They had a 25 percent off coupon and it used it for pine kitty litter. Wet cat food was bogo! I really like the convenience of bird food choices they offer. They have a nice staff who are very helpful. Even when a wild bunny is hungry and need of care, someone seeking to redone a pet. We came here when searching for a bearded dragon after mine sadly passed away unexpectedly after purchasing one from Petsmart. The beardies at Pratt's looked A LOT healthier and a bit older and developed. We picked out a male bearded dragon and he has been doing amazing ever since!! came in today to look at some animals. a group of girls were throwing the baby bunnies into the water bowl in the enclosure..... the bunnies were so small more than half of them got submerged into their water bowl. let a worker know & he legit just shrugged his shoulders & walked away.... you could tell the bunnies were stressed from it. do better if you're "taking care" of animals. will not ever come here again. read more

I LOVE Pratt's pets. They have a large assortment of animals food, supplies and animals! It's honestly like a mini zoo and I love just going there sometimes to check out what they have. They have everything from puppies, birds, goats, chickens, pigs, tortoises and more! The employees are always really friendly and helpful as well with any questions. I will warn you... this store is addicting!! I pop in weekly to get crickets and worms for my Beardie. Every time I go I am greeted by more than one friendly associate. They are always more than helpful. Last night I took my 10 year old and she ended up buying a cute little bunny. I would not recommend getting an animal from here, I don't encourage slandering any business but I was sold a kitten not being told that he was "recently treated" for ringworm. Once I contracted it on my entire body a week after getting him home I then knew. When I went back to ask for help or to see what they could do they acknowledged knowing the litter my kitten came from had ringworm. Please just be cautious and go to a pet store that will take responsibility for the care of the animals and the people spending money in there establishment. read more

This is a quality place with knowledgeable staff who are always willing to help. We purchased a bunny there. She quickly bonded with our family. She seemed to be having some trouble with her ear. We called and were warmly invited to bring her in so they could take a look. Three knowledgeable staff, including the manager and a bunny breeder gave our little one a full once over. They explained and educated us on all things rabbit. It was a wonderful experience and we would recommend them to anyone! Thank you guys for everything. Dan C is smarter then the vet apparently. Even I know there's an incubation period. Way to stand by your dedicated customers Dan C. we're so blessed to have you in our community and not knowing who your breeders truly are and proof of who the actual parents are is a great attribute to have within your business. Bought to puppies from you from same breeder and they couldn't even provide pictures of the males. So that isn't good business practice for your company. They killed my Bird Took my bird there for his wings to be clipped and his nails cut he did not like the way they were handling him he was very mad we could here him outside the door then she came out and said he got overheated and died. They said normally they don't trim birds that old he was 18 years old no signs were posted saying that there was such a policy. If a bird is frustrated you should use common sense and let him calm down then try again or don't perform the service. read more

I came in looking for items for my sons hamster. I was so happy to see so many options. I needed a small water dispenser and no one sells them. Service was great and I was i. I LOVE supporting small businesses and will always choose to support them over big box stores but unfortunately this place deserves 0 stars!! I cannot believe how I was treated, and nonetheless, in front of my 3 year old who was crying because we couldn't bring the bunny we wanted home. To make a long story short, we had picked out a bunny - advertised as $39.99. Also picked out all the essentials. We go to check out.. I see that my receipt says it's over $250. I notice that they charged me $100 for the bunny. I asked the employee why that I was being charged this price. She said she would fix it.. then another employee comes by says that they are not $40. A third employee comes and says no that's right.. it is advertised as $39.99 and brought over the signage. The other employee that said it was not $40 tried to then tell me they were $140 and it was a mistake on the price and they "unfortunately cannot sell it to me for that price because they paid a lot more for them" I said ok... well you advertised it as $39.99... it's your mistake.. you should honor that price and then change it so that no one else can purchase at that wrong price. She said no sorry we can't honor that. I asked to speak with the manager.. the manager apparently was not there. I said well then who can I talk to to get this resolved as this is a gift for my daughter. She said sorry you can't talk to anyone and you're being rude. I was definitely not being rude. I am a small business owner my self and if I ever make a mistake on pricing, I honor the price I put it at even if it is not what I intended. This is NOT how you conduct business. We've been shopping here for a while and now we will definitely NEVER be coming back. The employee further decided to make my daughter cry and said that our bunny would die now since we are not buying it. How incredibly rude and uncalled for. I stopped by just for fun in hopes of looking at some birds. I'll start with the positives: The chickens were super cute and looked healthy, they had younger and older chicks. There's a good selection of reptile supplies from what it looks like. There's a funny little fluffy chicken that runs around the store, which is charming. Store itself is relatively clean and provides adequate-sized housing for most of their pets. There was a really good selection of bird toys, they pretty much had a whole wall just for them. Now for what I felt could be improved (keep in mind I own a cockatiel, so I didn't go through the whole store, just mostly the bird stuff): The bird cages look like they could be cleaned more regularly and the birds themselves could be provided more enrichment and perches that aren't dowel rods as they're bad for their feet. The selection of bird food was ok, most of it was seed mix, which should be fed sparingly to parrots as most parrots require a healthy pellet and lots of veggies. They did have zupreem pellets, though, which I fed to my cockatiel previously before switching over to a healthier pellet. Overall, an ok place. read more

Birds, rabbits, pigs, snakes, turtles, and their feed, housing, bedding, toys, etc. Feeder rats, crickets, worms, etc. Kids like to "pet" the chickens, rabbits and pigs. No cost! They have a vet that comes once a week (Tuesdays?). They also have on site grooming and short term kenneling. Reasonable prices. read more

I have been going to Pratt's Pets for over 20 years, they are by far the best Pet store when your are looking for a place for your pets to be taken care of well. I have used their grooming service, purchased pet food, pets, and supplies from them. Their prices are less or compatible with other pet stores and their pets are healthy and clean. The store is always very clean and well taken care of. I have even used their kennel service and my dogs were handled with care and kept in a clean kennel. When I picked up my dogs they seemed very happy. I would recommend them any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Thanks Pratt's Pets. read more

I'm an advocate of supporting locally owned businesses but when they tell me to leave my child in the car because it's the rules you lose my business. I tried to call and talk to the owner and was hung up on, this is why we have to go through Amazon, it's cheaper and faster. I tried to keep my money local, you failed. And don't try to use the "quarantine" excuse, if you believe the media your the dumb one. In response to Dan, if your employers are immune compromised they should be at home so they are not exposed to any germs or virus that are transmitted between people. If a customer is sick then ask them to keep their distance or offer support so they do not have to come in the store. But in what CDC guide line does it say you have to leave your child in the car. That's not usually advised. Oh, when a tried to call I was hung up on. Someone needs to learn a little more about basic customer service when I asked to talk to you. read more

I've brought my dog here for boarding a few times. I trust them. They really show care and attention when I'm dropping her off and picking her up. No issues with them I'll be coming back. I love that the the dogs/ pets have a small room/ looks like a jail cell, instead of a crate to only sit in. Makes me happy. read more

I think that this Pratt's is a little better than the one in Glendale. It's a smaller store with less animals, but the ones they have looked healthier. The baby sulcatas especially looked to be much healthier. This is probably because there were less of them in a larger cage. They also had a couple baby monitors that were very cute. The bearded dragons also looked healthier and had better coloration. One last note; this store is in El Mirage, not Surprise, like one of their ads said and you cannot get to the store directly from Grand Ave. You have to pull off before you get to the store and drive around to it. *Edit Pratt's in Surprise has taken to keeping different species of animals in the same cage with each other. The last time I was in the store they had captive bred Sulcatas and Bearded Dragons in with wild caught Green Iguanas. Not only is this dangerous to the lizards, because they could injure each other, but the Iguanas could have parasites that could be transferred to the other CB lizards. I would be very wary of buying a tortoise here until they discontinue this practice. read more

Love Pratt's in Glendale. Went to this one a couple times now and was sorely disappointed. Selling animals that are too young to be sold. Axolotls need to be 3". The employee was talking about how there used to be 5 in the tank and now there's only 4, missing chunks of tail, arms, hands. For real? Basic care says they're cannibalistic at that age. Chameleons that are newly hatched up to only a week or two old. They're selling these animals knowing they're going out of the store and dying. No wonder their policy is they don't take back animals that are sick or dead. All of them are pretty much guaranteed dead due to the age, NOT the heat. Owner needs to overhaul staff and get the manager from Glendale to clean this place up. read more

The staff is never less than pleasant and professional, as well as extremely friendly and great to talk to. None of my questions have ever gone unanswered and I have never waited more than 5 minutes for help. (Which I wouldn't be upset if I had to wait longer anyway, it's a busy local business, I love to see them thriving.) I will not shop anywhere else! So for many years Pratts Pets has been a local favorite of mine, from way back when till now even. Over the years they have changed multiple time, and grown tremendously, all to keep up the competition with a ever growing city all around them. I believe their diversity of products from your typical house pets, to the exotics and the farming variety, to the pet boarding of all kinds has been a huge plus. They even supply a wide variety of of products for all at such a reasonable price. The selection of feeder insects has grown and become fairly demanding as well, and they do a great job on meeting the supply and demand. They have done a great job at giving their location a family friendly and cozy environment. The staff is all amazing, with Cesar and Cody, and many other employees being so helpful and upbeat in their customer services. Pratt's Pets even supplies the Do It Yourself pet shots at affordable prices. They even support the local breeders of pets and insects by buying at great rates when needed. They have a grooming service and more. I highly recommend you to check them out if your nearby. I have given Pratt's Pets the 4 star rating as the above is amazing, but there is very limited space throughout the store, always a high smell of alfalfa/hay for anyone whom has allergies of this may want to avoid or take something before arriving, along with the cleanliness being just a little lacking at time, not always tho. Took our cat Tippy there today for his grooming appt. He is not the easiest one when it comes to grooming but Amber once again did a great job. He twitched his head and got his ear nicked.
