The coffee tasted great and the set up was lovely. The chicken Panini and egg white sandwich were both a nine out of 10 and tasted delicious and light, not too greasy. The service was nice with a nice ambience.

Chris will make you the best matcha ever !! Had mine with almond milk. Delish. And a super cute space

Nice neighborhood cafe spot in Santa Monica and a short walk from the beach. Great meeting place for coffee or food with indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Open Sandwich, which is fresh mozzerella, tomato, avocado and pesto on a baguette. Overall the sandwich was delicious and fresh. If only they had a cafe like this in DTLA.

Delicious healthy food and amazing service. The owners are kind and hardworking. My boyfriend and I stop by here every time we're in Santa Monica. Love the aesthetic and the music they play here.

    Margherita pizza, pretty good.

Small café with a nice variety on the menu. The food was good and the service was great. The margherita pizza (7/10) was more like a regular cheese pizza; it didn't have the fresh mozzarella, just regular cheese on top. With that said, it was still a tasty pizza. The crust was SUPER thin, like a tortilla, but still managed to be nice and crispy. I highly recommend the fresh lemonade. 9/10 I used my Yelp check-in to get the lemonade instead of the beer/wine which they were offering, and they were happy to accommodate.

We got off an early morning flight to LA and needed to find a spot to do work for a few hours. Kafe K is the perfect place to chill or knock out a few emails. They have a great coffee and drink selection so I was able to get all my beverages in. I had the omelette with bacon, feta and tomato and it was just the perfect breakfast. Props to the nice outdoor seating and even nicer staff.

    Chocolate cheesecake is divine!

Oh, Kafe K! There are not enough stars in the world for you! The beautiful friendly owners, the fantastic food, the welcoming atmosphere. What else could you want?! Check out Kafé K for the best Santa Monica coffee, food, and vibes!

Wow, I'm so glad I discovered Kafe K! There are tons of gluten free options, but beware gf bread is in a shared toaster so if you're celiac like me, it's not recommended. The owner was so nice & accommodating and said he could still do something with bread for me but not toast it; it just wouldn't taste as good because it wouldn't be warm. I decided to go with an omelette, and I asked if he could sub the bread for fruit and he said no problem! I looked to the right and saw GLUTEN FREE MADELEINES. I've been gluten free for 11 years now and have never seen or had one...I almost teared up! It was very yummy and the omelette was yummy too. I sat on the patio which is so cute and I loved people watching on a nice sunny day. Great experience and I'll definitely be coming back!

The food at Kafe K is so yummy! I couldn't decide what I wanted for brunch so I ordered both the Margherita pizza and the poached eggs with a mimosa :) My husband ordered Capricciosa pizza and the Blackberry Power smoothie and enjoyed them both as well. The couple that runs this place is very sweet as well. Thanks for the complimentary Kombuchas!! The next time we are in Santa Monica for brunch, we'll come by!

2.5 stars This place is popping on a Sunday morning on July 4th, 2021. The owner seems overwhelmed and not thrilled to be here. The açaí bowl is $15. They are out of pitaya. So crowded full of bicyclists and kids. I miss social distancing!! Lol. I waited 31 minutes for my soupy açaí bowl and it was definitely unimpressive. The gluten free granola was hard and the açaí was runny and goopy. The blueberries were few and far between. I am surprised at all the good reviews. After waiting 31 minutes, the owner and his wife kind of apologized, more her than him.

I live in Santa Monica which means I'm surrounded by overpriced trendy restaurants that capitalize on their location by overcharging on their menu. No qualms with that. That's what you have to expect when you live here. And then you have a spot like Rae's. Rae's is a classic diner vibes in every sense of the word. It almost looks like a place out of time with how retro it is, but it works. Can you expect the best meal of your life? Absolutely not. Can you expect an authentic diner experience with questionable but unlimited coffee and everything you expect a diner to have on the menu for under $15? Absolutely. Personally, I like that places like this still exist and there is no better cure for a hangover than a breakfast at a diner like Rae's.

What is special is the selective visibility: female customers are optional, male customers get eye contact and service. Today confirmed it. I asked a waitress--card terminal in hand--to let us pay. She suggested I navigate the crowded counter instead. Seconds later, my husband returned from the restroom and suddenly she reappeared, smiling, with takeout containers and the card terminal. Amazing how service improves with a Y chromosome present. I paid, tipped, and left unimpressed. Kindness shouldn't be gender-specific. If you're visiting Santa Monica looking for a warm American diner experience, I'd look elsewhere.

The next time JJ had a bowl of split pea soup, which was excellent! He also had the tuna sandwich, which he enjoyed as well, but said it was a little on the dry side. I ended up deciding on breakfast at 5 pm in the afternoon--- combo with pancakes, eggs over easy and sausages. It was so good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pancakes were steaming hot and fluffy and the sausages were really plump and juicy. Excellent. Recommended, if you're in the area---give Teddy's a try. Cash only, but there is an ATM inside. Do you ever sit in an environment where you wonder how they survived the existential threat of…read moreconvenience culture? One where it feels almost criminal to be on your phone and that a newspaper is the proper form of media consumption? This is exactly how I felt sitting in a barstool in Snug Harbor. I was back in LA for the Holidays, and was planning to meet with a friend for breakfast. He runs a restaurant and a coffee shop in Venice, so I trust him with my life when it comes to a breakfast recommendation. He texted me "I'm about to put you on this spot that will blow you away. I'm not even going to say anything else, just going to let its game do the talking..." followed by a google maps link to Snug Harbor in Santa Monica. When I arrived, I stopped and stared for a second. The sign has seemingly been untouched since this place opened in 1941, and the "N" in Snug Harbor was leaning noticeably more forward than the other letters. I opened the creaky old door to an environment that has somehow embalmed the 1940s-50s feel perfectly. A front dining area with faux letter booths and barstools, a vintage Coca Cola branded sign where you have to change each individual letter by hand, those thick ceramic coffee mugs where servers come and refill the black gold with a pot every few minutes, etc. I was GEEKED, and locked eyes with my buddy Nick who was sitting at one of the barstools. He must've seen the look in my eyes and said "How REAL is this spot!?" as we exchanged a clean dap. "The vibe is INSANE, but I promise the food is even better than you're expecting..." Inject it into my veins. I was so ready. As we caught up and went down the most random rabbit holes you could ever think of, I noticed a guy in his mid 30s sitting at the bar alone as he was demolishing a stack of buttermilk pancakes just for the love of the game. Whenever I see someone eating alone, I always think they have it all figured out. You can tell someone is secure in who they are as a human being if they are just enjoying a meal alone. As we waited for our food, Nick would comment on things that only someone running a restaurant would notice. "Look at how yellow those eggs are... The way this guy keeps his griddle spotless is next level... Look at how the 2 of them are handling these 7 tickets, they are moving fast but not rushed. They are in a genuine flow-state right now..." I love sharing a meal with someone who sees the world in a totally different way than I do. I learn so much in such a short period of time. Every time I go to a diner, I get the same simple breakfast of 2 eggs any style with bacon or sausage. My girlfriend makes fun of me saying "You always get something you could easily make at home," which is true. But to me, this plate shows the quality of a place and really just gets me back to homeostasis. My steaming plate was filled with very yellow eggs, breakfast potatoes, a whole real sausage that was cooked perfectly, and pre-buttered rye toast. Every bite had me cheesing from ear to ear. The ingredients are much higher quality than a typical diner, and the food is made with the care and love of a home cooked plate. Truly a phenomenal meal to pair with an ambiance that has been untouched by the river of time. I'm obsessed. Places like Snug Harbor have a special place in my soul.
