Love this space out in Santa Monica area. The owners Khalil and Teron are very kind, personable and welcoming at their establishment. I've been twice and enjoyed the people and the vibe. First visit, on a Sunday, they only serve beverages and they have a local food business use their space to introduce their cuisine to guests. They have a Caribbean vendor, Little Los angeles, serving great dishes. I visited again on Juneteenth and it was packed due to the event happening locally by the Santa Monica Pier. I hosted an event with some colleagues and we enjoyed their Orange Pinot Gris and the chilled red. Both crowd favorites! We also indulged in the grilled cheese and a salmon dip that left guests wanting more.

I stopped in here with two friends after a workout class (studio right next door) on a Tuesday night. The bar had a few other people inside, but there was plenty of available seating. The entire vibe of the bar was super relaxed and more of an elevated casual. There's also a cute little outdoor seating area off to the side of the bar as well. I got a cab (classic) and the burrata with fresh fruit. The burrata was so delicious and everything seemed really fresh! I split that plate and the cheese platter with my friends and it was enough for the three of us to munch on while chatting. Pro tip: my friend chatted with the bartender about wine and she got to try a different lighter wine (either a white or orange variation, I can't remember right now) that wasn't on the menu! I'd gladly come back to this spot again!

Fun spot to do a wine tasting! They are super knowledgeable about the wines and service was great! We came in on a Sunday and they also had a pop-up food vendor serving Thai food which was also delicious. They have a decent size patio with a few tables that can accommodate groups of 4 and a bunch of 2 person tables. Great place to spend an afternoon! Street parking was also pretty easy in the area.

Went here for the first time and really enjoyed it! Gabrielle makes a phenomenal grilled cheese. We tried the happy hour chilled red orange Pinot Gris and loved both. Great for a casual Monday! The happy hour was great. Will definitely stop by again.

Food is great. It's nice have lunch sandwiches that doesn't break the bank. Seemed like quality ingredients. The service was great and friendly. Chill music vibes.

THIS is my new go-to wine bar in Santa Monica because it has everything I want in an evening spot and more. I was there for the wine, which is all hand-selected by the conscientious owner who knows every story behind every winery--I know because he told me each story with such detail and care that I wanted to try them all. I chose one from up north and it was so perfect--I had to get a second glass. The food is delectable and changes up depending on the visiting pop-up that night. I was there when the smash burgers were being served, and there are other yummy dishes served on different days. The vibe is chill and lively, with great music playing just loud enough to feel it, but not too loud to have a convo outside on the patio chairs. There's plenty to choose from at the front or the side of the restaurant, or you can sit inside on some tabletops or at the bar. I'm so impressed with this place, and I cannot wait to return!

Wow! Such a great natural wine bar in the area. Stopped in for a quick drink with my husband and we were blown away by the selection and service. Definitely adding this to our date night rotation!

I've yet to find a better local spot on this side of town! My friend introduced me a couple years ago + we still love it here. Staff is always helpful when selecting wines, the food is fabulous / fantastic new lunch service w/ amazing sandwiches, the weekend crowd is fly, the music is dope, + the owners are extremely welcoming! Vibes are always immaculate.

Grilled steak, cheese and tomato sandwich. OMG!

This place was recommended by our friends who know the owner who apparently have a few other bar locations in DTLA. Super friendly and chill vibe. We came around 5pm so there is still daylight which makes the entire place open, airy and bright. Unlike traditional wine bars, this feels very modern. Our friends pretty much ordered the entire menu of Spanish tapas, including ham, bread spread, yellowtail and shrimp. Everything is super fresh and delicious, and you can tell they use top notch ingredients. In the end, we ordered a Basque cheesecake which is one of the softest and creamiest cheesecakes I have ever had! I ordered a glass of Rose and it is very tasty. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I can tell the quality of it stands out among other drinks I had in other places.

    A curated selection of wines.

The Offhand Wine Bar is an experience to be had. Their lunch offerings are exquisite and wine selections are superb. This place offers a bespoke experience that is both personal and high quality!

Stopped by here on a night that they were hosting a pop up (The Serrano Experience). No parking lot but street parking wasn't an issue for us. They have a cute little patio and a nice clean inside. Cute vibe. Staff was friendly, and the wine selection was decent. I would love to see a bit more of a varied section, but I enjoyed the glass of orange wine I had. Prices were pretty standard LA-steep, about $14 for a glass of wine. I wouldn't be in a rush to return for the wine alone, but it was a nice time.

We order a test of few wines

Appreciate that the bartenders were attentive and that the place wasn't too full or busy. Happy hour drinks are worth the price. The regular cocktails are good but cannot compare to more well known places. I liked that there were bar seats, standing tables and seated areas. It had a cool vibe and tons of allocated bottles on the bar (tequila and whiskey and whisky to name a few categories). The staff greeted us quickly and supplied us with some menus. I opted for the Idyllwild cocktail and loved it! It had the most complementary flavors and was so refreshing with the bourbon, yuzu, chartreuse, honey, and lemon flavors. My husband opted for a neat Caballito Cerrero Puntas pour (high proof agave spirit). They only had 0.5 Oz for their bottle and only charged for the partial pour. People came in and ordered anything from cocktails to neat pours to flights. It was a cool spot and the bartenders seemed pretty well versed in different cocktails, giving a few suggestions to different patrons. Even making a few Espresso Martinis for a couple of girls that didn't really like their initial cocktails. Staff was cool, attentive, and pretty quick and efficient with the pours. I'd definitely be down to try more drinks here if we roll through again. Luckily, we found some close street parking and it wasn't super busy so we easily found parking in the area. It also wasn't super packed in the venue so we could've opted for other seating--lounge areas, a few tables, or just at the bar.

It's an intimate and comfortable setting, with only around 14 seats available. Executive Chef Keigo Yoshida and General Manager Masaki Ishiba were running a two-man show the night we dined as Asakura and did an astounding job. They balanced perfectly executed dishes with warm hospitality, keeping all the guests happy in the meantime. The Omakase menu offers dishes created to the absolute highest standard; the Chawan Mushi with Black Truffle is the best version I have ever had of this dish. Outstanding! Very limited seating with 3 tables and 6 high chairs at the Chef's counter so reservations are de rigueur. Executive Chef Yoshida and General Manager Ishiba set the pace in friendly, warm service. There is a short course Kaisèki-Omakasè (oh mah kah seh) seating at 5pm and a full course at 7pm. The Kaisèki-Omakasè start on time so make sure to arrive on time or be left behind. As is typical of high-end Japanese restaurants, the seasons are recognized in terms of ingredients as well as touches of seasonal motif on ceramic accoutrements. So wonderful that DineLA on occasion brings to attention a restaurant so finely tuned in exquisite, understated, elegant cuisine. Our limited menu was full of revelatory morsels that really hit the mark. 1) Basket of Appetizers: A) Gindara/Sable fish marinated, sweet Kasu Zukè lightly grilled that was flakey, buttery, fatty. Bit of finely grated Daikon radish to add "spiciness". B) Tamago Yaki: Moist, eggy, egg omelet, whisper of sweetness. C) Compressed chicken thigh "torchon". Like a baked sausage with some parts plush and other parts more meaty and firm. Good Jidori chicken flavour. Fatty, chewy, thin skin acts as the casing. D) Panko bread crumb encrusted Kazu no Ko Kombu/cod roe on kelp leaf cube fried in oil. Exercise in popping, crunchy texture with faint sea vegetable scent. E) Poached dried apricot, touch of creamy Tōfu purée topped with a sweet black bean symbolizing good health. F) Dashi/broth braised ice berg lettuce, scattering of Shirasu/salted micro baby fish fry & Katsuo Bushi/shaved, dried Bonito flakes adds more sea Umami. G) Goma Dōfu: Not made from soy bean but made from Kuzu. Texture is smooth, gooey, plush, touch sticky in sweet Shōyu/soy sauce, Mirin/sweet Sakè, Dashi. Touch of freshly ground Wasabi root adds an aromatically pungent counterpoint. 2) Chawan Mushi/egg custard soup: Complex construction. Silky, Dashi infused ultra soft, savory custard hides velvety sea scallops along with crunchy toasted rice. An Kakè (ah kah keh) Sauce Velouté that is also silky, velvet is poured on top. We opted for Truffe Noir de Périgord/French black truffle hand shaved over the Chawan Mushi for nutty, earthy, nubby textural effect. This may be Asakura's chef-d'oeuvre, signature dish. 3) Osetra Caviar comes out of a smoke box for a magical, dramatic effect performed by Chef Yoshida. The capelli d'angelo/angel hair wheat pasta is al dente in a soupçon of rich meaty Dashi. The Osetra is creamy, sweet, cherry wood smoked with a touch of sea saltiness. Another must get. 4) A5 Wagyū from Kyōto is a tenderloin cut with less fat and more plush beefiness in a Sauce demi-glace made with earthy, black garlic and beef bouillon on a bed of sweet parsnips purée. Coming down to earth, steamed rice, Miso soup, salt brined pickles round out and conclude the main meal. 1-4a) When I asked for a good bottle of Sakè (sah keh) to pair with the Omakasè, General Manager Ishiba suggested Hakurakusèi Tokubetsu Junmai class, Shinshu/new Sakè. Neutral bouquet, subtle taste of apples, subliminal bitterness, minerality. Finish was ephemeral as well to clear the palate without a strong, lingering echo. The Japanese term Jōhin comes to mind connoting well mannered, high class. 5) Coffee scented Blancmange which is a light pudding. Simple, refreshing dessert to end this well modulated, complex meal. The Omotènashi/Japanese style hospitality and sensibilities is very evident. Food here is right on target as to what Asakura aims to accomplish. Finely honed cuisine rooted in tradition yet napped by more modern concepts informed by diverse, international influences. Definitely a 5 star experience catering to discerning palates that appreciate nuanced, well thought out cuisine often clothed in sybaritic ingredients. Perhaps an Étoile is on the way. .

The ambience is calm and breezy; waitstaff are very attentive and friendly. Hubby and I shared the broad beans with fennel and fried shallots. My first time trying it and even if you hate lima beans (these are similar in shape but so much nicer), you will crave this creamy, savory dish. I'm still salivating over the Caesar salad with white anchovies; don't be discouraged just because anchovies have a bad rap for being fishy. The white ones are vinegar-y and fresh and they use bread crumbs instead of croutons. I love the addition of the slightly bitter but crunchy radicchio. For the main, we shared the guanciale white pizza (no tomato sauce) and the crust is thin and bubbly like you would get in Naples. And for dessert, we chose the Basque-like cheesecake with sour cherry compote. Hubby and I don't drink alcohol anymore so there are three mocktail choices along with a zero-proof IPA that's very hoppy. I chose the hibiscus mocktail and it was perfectly icey, tart and fragrant. Honestly the best meal I've had in a long while and the prices are affordable and ideal for a first date or a business meeting.
