Ran in quickly to grab a coffee and pastry. Parking isn't easy to find. After driving around, luckily, found a metered spot a couple of blocks away. I like to try a business's speciality menu items when I try a new spot to me. I ordered the iced churro latte. It was okay but the shots of espresso in it were faint. The overall flavor of the churro latte was sweet milk with cinnamon. I should have gone with my first choice of a pastry and ordered one of the croissants, but changed my mind at the last second and ordered a scone. I love scones but this one was lacking flavor. I would order differently the next time. Staff was subdued but kind. The majority of customers were working on their laptops and/or having meetings. I love the variety of coffee here- their specialty lattes are my fav! I get the churro latte and it's not too sweet! I enjoy getting here when they open at 7 am. It's easier to find parking. I typically park in the metered street parking for $2.50 the hour and it starts at 9 am! The space inside is massive with lots of couches, tables, and bar seating. The outlets are typically near the bar and on the couch areas. I have never struggled to find an open outlet! Sitting near the bar is my favorite- they have a sky light open and the sun light enters so perfectly! Lived here for many years but never stopped into Bodega. Popped in this morning for a coffee and a bite for myself and my wife. The lovely woman who was the barista this morning deserves some kudos. She was friendly, accommodating and poured a mean coffee. I grabbed a cortado, latte and some croissants... changed my mind on the croissants and opted to wait for the kitchen to open so we got someone hearty before our flight and she happily canceled the order -- even after she'd started heating the croissants! She also remembered our order and made my wife's latte as the food was coming out so she could have a warm latte, and even remembered the milk choice. It was really pleasant. The paseo and breakfast sandwich were also great! It's rare to run into people who are pleasant in the service industry these days, so kudos to Bodega for hiring well and / or paying their employees well. read more

We showed up and were ready to seat ourselves and/or split up if needed since we were a bigger group and didn't have a reservation (I think reservations are only for large parties with a f/b minimum). When we arrived, we were greeted by a staff member who asked how many were in our group. I told him 8-9 people and he promptly cleared an area for us and we were seated within approximately 60 seconds, despite there being a decent crowd already. Our server was very attentive in bringing us whatever we needed and after ordering, everything came out fairly quickly. The Margherita pizza was delicious. It tasted fresh. I loved the gooey cheese and the fresh basil. I also ordered the kale salad with chicken. That was a winner for me. I was bored, antsy and hungry so I hopped on the E line, made my way to Santa Monica and took myself out to lunch. Bodega is a 10 minute walk from the E line stop at Fourth and Colorado. It was a really pretty day so it was nice to get some sunshine, fresh ocean breezes and exercise. When I lived and worked in Santa Monica, I would come here all of the time. Back then they would have DJ's on weekend nights and anyone who knows me knows that I love a DJ. It had been a while since I had been to Bodega, but when I walked it, it felt so familiar and remembered how much I loved coming here. The space is open and airy with the two big windows that open up and let the breezes in. I love the whole set up with the communal tables and lounge areas. I was about 3 p.m. so it wasn't crowded at all. I got a seat right away at a communal table, made a new friend and ended up talking to him the entire time I was there. I liked the fact that it wasn't too loud and I could actually have a conversation without being drowned out by noise. I ordered the burrata salad and the bbq chicken pizza both of which were excellent. I also like how Bodega now offers coffee and breakfast in the morning. The menu has lots to offer, and a good wine selection. Bodega has a great vibe, great service, a good place to meet up with friends/date spot, great location and convenient to get to if you take the train. When one of the workers from the shop saw our church walk in and how busy it got so fast i remember she paused and said in awe. "oh my God...." I laughed, thats how roll! Service: It was great how busy it was. They were pretty good with delivering the food. My order got messed up twice, but I didn't care because i was with good people so i was patient for my burrito to come out correctly. No biggie there. Coffee was made in a blink. That was great. Ambiance: This spot is def a workers place. At least half the room were working on their lap tops, booted up and jacked in.
