I've been coming here for years and there's a lot of great things to say about the ambiance, the delicious food, the events and all of the other qualities other reviewers comment on, But what compelled me to finally write a review is witnessing how the staff treats people. Twice in one day I witnessed two separate staff members go out of their way to help people in ways not required or expected of them. In the afternoon, one of the staff very subtly and respectfully gave a homeless woman who was clearly having a difficult time a pastry and a drink and later that same day, another staff member helped walk man in crutches up the street who wasn't even a customer. I stopped by recently on a weekday to grab lunch and get some work done. The place was 90% full on a weekday lunch time filled with people and their laptops. I barely found us a table. The Forager Salad with baby arugula, butternut squash, apple, roasted pecans, dried cranberries, goat cheese & cinnamon date vinaigrette was so delicious! It was flavorful and refreshing. I added chicken for extra protein. I love this salad more than the last one (Miso Cesar) I got. Miso Cesar is a bit more salty even though that salad is also creative in terms of flavor, and very good as well. The Forager is lighter and has a hint of sweetness with the sliced apples.I will be back again! Parking can be a challenge depending on the time of the week and day. There is metered street parking and you can also park at Vons across the street for 90 minutes for free if you do some shopping there. I have been to bodega wine bar plenty of times over the years and I am always happy to return. Their red sangria is the best!! It is not too sweet and just tart enough to make you want to endlessly enjoy it. They have open seating so you don't need reservations if you are just meeting a small group. The waitresses find you quickly and they have a good amount of items on happy hour. Their pizza is also very good with a crust that tastes very high quality. We got the chili bear pizza that has the soppressata perfectly crisped. In addition we tried the bacon wrapped dates which had manchego cheese and jam on the inside. The food came out hot and fresh and smelled sooo good. We tried the passionfruit spritz next, but we thought it tasted too much like watered down juice and was not worth it, next time I would get more wine or sangria instead. Ran in quickly to grab a coffee and pastry. Parking isn't easy to find. After driving around, luckily, found a metered spot a couple of blocks away. I like to try a business's speciality menu items when I try a new spot to me. I ordered the iced churro latte. It was okay but the shots of espresso in it were faint. The overall flavor of the churro latte was sweet milk with cinnamon. I should have gone with my first choice of a pastry and ordered one of the croissants, but changed my mind at the last second and ordered a scone. I love scones but this one was lacking flavor. I would order differently the next time. Staff was subdued but kind. The majority of customers were working on their laptops and/or having meetings. Super fun trivia + happy hour! The place was packed for trivia and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The trivia host was excellent - very friendly, funny, and helpful. Our server was awesome - she was attentive and friendly despite being very busy. We had the bacon-wrapped dates, the forager salad, the scapegoat pizza (my fave) and the chili bear. I typically park in the metered street parking for $2.50 the hour and it starts at 9 am! The space inside is massive with lots of couches, tables, and bar seating. The outlets are typically near the bar and on the couch areas. I have never struggled to find an open outlet! Sitting near the bar is my favorite- they have a sky light open and the sun light enters so perfectly!
