Long time visitor, first time reviewing. I love Dudley Market. It's such a perfect spot in Venice, slightly hidden off the boardwalk. The restaurant is always consistent, always packed. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait. There's a few bars nearby if you're waiting. Once you're able to sit down, you'll find a cute wine bar with amazing food that doesn't disappoint. Don't skip the fries. They're some of the best things I've eaten. I dream about those fries. The Peruvian scallops are dreamy. Very light, very refreshing. Dudley, oh Dudley, where do I begin? With the dazzling string lights in the Dudley Avenue alleyway and how they dance like stars against the indigo sky? Which you'll probably be seeing a lot of because of how long the wait for dinner here is? No better time than the present to address the elephant in the room: Yes, because this place is so gorgeous and trendy and such a vibe (I mean, all those TikToks of effortlessly LA-looking people killing time drinking wine on the sidewalk?), there'll definitely be a wait here if you come on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Will it be worth it? Well, maybe not if you end up having to wait two hours for a table. And if, once you're seated, the server actually ignores you and your friends for about ten minutes even though you spent those ten minutes trying to flag someone down for menus. And definitely not if the portion size is so small (and expensive) that you end up having to swing by the Taco Bell drive-thru on your way home because you're still hungry. Overpriced for what you get. The decor doesn't make up for the service or the food, unfortunately. Though if you do eat here, try the Peruvian scallops. Just a heads up search for the place on Resy rather than trying to make the reservation on their own site. I couldn't figure it out. The ambiance is what makes this spot. It reminds me of the fun New England seafood markets but with a little bit of a Venice twist. You'll find a genuine fried fish but then also sashimi which is fantastic by the way! In the plus side I did eat the whole burger because I'm okay with rare beef if it's high quality. The beef here was fresh and of high quality. They also seems to have seasoned the beef with some sort of steak like seasoning which was good. The bacon jam I did not like. It's not too sweet but the bacon pieces do distract from the rest of the burger. I'd much prefer a strip of real bacon if adding bacon. The bun was really good. A perfect bun. This is a fancy burger which is trying to be fancy. However they need to learn how to cook the patty's. They don't ask you how you would like it done either. The venue gave me the vibe of beach house combined with green house; simply cute and slow. They're known for their seafood so we certainly didn't skip having a couple from their raw section. Our picks were their Peruvian Scallop and Bluefin Tuna Crudo. Served on ice, the scallops were fresh and juicy. Nothing fancy but palatable. I would skip the tuna though as it had that fishy hint a bit and the sauce was just okay to me. My friend got their Dudley Burger featuring wagyu as the protein and apparently was one of their top sellers despite being well-known for seafood. I went for the fried fish katsu as I wanna go all in with seafood theme. My friend did enjoy hers, though it's probably tad smaller in size compared to typical burger elsewhere. An extremely lively and trendy lounge-type of restaurant on the Venice/Santa Monica border very close to the water. It is actually a block away from the beach. At night they move the tables and the DJ booth turns on and it turns into a mini nightclub and most of the patrons we saw were they to pick up champagne to share and drink on site, the food here seemed an afterthought. The crowd here is very young, most people are in their 20s. You'll probably be one of the older ones if you are in your mid 30s like myself. It's also very loud and it's more a place to go with friends or a date, it's not really a foodie destination, it's more of a lively place to spend the evening. Parking is honestly really hard in this area so we took a Waymo because we live a mile away. Aside from that you'll most likely need to pay for parking. I called multiple times with no answer, and when I finally asked the host about booking, I was told they only take reservations for the first hour of service. Peruvian Scallops - Excellent. They instantly took me back to Peru, where they're often flambéed with pisco, full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Burger - Delicious. Last night I was able to finally try Dudley Market! It was a great experience. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm. We were able to be sat right away, luckily! The inside is on the smaller side, very cozy with dim lighting and wine casing the walls. Makes for a nice ambience. We ordered two glasses of wine, both delicious. They have an extensive wine list. Went with a girlfriend on a Sunday shortly after they opened at 2pm & opted for a seat inside. The space is small but such a fun & cute vibe, located barely one block from the beach. We went with the scallop crudo, kanpachi crudo, mussels, burger & fries + orange wine to sip. The scallop crudo came out first, loved this dish. Fresh and bright and the scallops so tender. The mussels I thought were just okay. The mussels themselves were excellent quality but it was the broth that we both agreed was just meh. Needed a little something extra. I'd try again if they switched up how they're serving them. The kanpachi crudo was so good and a nice seasonal touch with the persimmon. You really can't go wrong with anything from their raw bar. Lastly, for the star of the show, the burger. This is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had, ever. It doesn't even need cheese because the arugula, sauce and caramelized onion jam carry it just perfect. It's a good burger to share but tbh it's so good I'd go for that myself and like one crudo and call it a day. We got the fries to pair with the mussels & the burger, no complaints. They only offer very limited reservation times, so we put our name down for a table and strolled around nearby. They quoted us an hour wait to be seated and it was a bit shorter than that. We were seated immediately when our table was ready. The interior of Dudley Market features dark wooden tables and exposed rafters, exposed brick, and lots of light. There's a wall featuring records and wine bottles. It feels like a trendy spot to see and be seen. We got two appetizers and two mains each, including the caesar salad, half a dozen oysters, mussels and fish sandwich. Everything was good, but not amazing. Service was friendly. We never had to wait for anything very long, and could always get our server's attention when we needed it. I feel like I'm being lied to with all of these good reviews. Did we eat the same food? The location is probably the cause of all this high praise. It has to be. People with a lot of money historically have been bad with picking good flavors in food. The food is overpriced here, and it doesn't make sense why the cost is so high when the quality doesn't match it. I spent twenty dollars on the blue tuna, and it was laughably small and flavorless. The water Asian pear was sliced so thin, and soaked up the fish liquids, that it didn't taste like anything different. It tasted like the fish. It didn't feel like a nice touch. I've had better fish at hole in the wall spots in Little Tokyo. The burger was the reason I went, and I completely regret it. The arugula was a nice addition, but the mustard felt like it overpowered everything else. The meat wasn't seasoned properly. I don't necessarily like it when they choose wagyu for burgers. The whole point of wagyu being picked is because of how the fat is marbled, so what's the point if you're just gonna grind it up? I'd rather diff percentages of meat, different cuts. The fried sweet potato was the shining dish - and that's saying a lot since it was something I picked at random. The music selection is also another great aspect, and I liked the way the place looked inside. The service was good, and I don't think there needs to be improvement there. Disappointed. We arrived at 5 sharp. Only a few people got there before we did, so the restaurant was empty. We were waiting for our friend who was close but the hostess advised us she could not seat us without our friend. Not thrilled about that but ok. She said we could wait at the bar or outside. So we decided to go to the bar. We sat down and she promptly walked up behind us and advised us that we could not sit there and we had to stand off to the side. Again, the place was empty. I said oh you're really making this difficult for us. So we ordered $100 bottle of champagne and stood off to the side. It just felt like we were being snubbed. We're not 25 years old, we are older women and didn't necessarily want to be standing off to the edge of a restaurant when there were so many open areas that we could've just been seated at. When our friend finally arrived, the hostess started to sit us at a communal table when every other table was still available. We declined her strange offer and said no... we would like to sit at a normal table and she said OK! She really put a bad taste in my mouth and so it was not an enjoyable time. The food was mostly good. Some of it was just OK. The food server and the whole weight staff seemed really lovely. But I will not be going back as it was not great to be treated that way. Working in hospitality, I would've never told a patron that they had to wait off to the side when the place was empty. But that's just me. read more

Very incredible seafood I've had their scallops and their mussels they do not play around with the quality of their food.

Wow. What a vibe and delicious food. Some of the best Caesar salad I've ever had and the burger was incredible. Some of the best bites. Service was also 10/10. Wait was a bit long but hostess was super helpful on getting us seated asap. We were able to sip on some wine while waiting for our table which was a nice bonus. read more
