Hermanito has something for everyone. I really love how diverse the options are, if you want tacos you got it, if you want some oysters you got it, or if you're feeling like treating yourself they have some solid entrees! Not to mention their drinks are delicious! Hermanito is a top 10 restaurant to me on the westside. One of my favorite things in their menu is their Birria tacos with the consomé on the side. To die for! The service is great, the space is much bigger than the Sawtelle location. A very unique Mexican restaurant with a Japanese twist.

Hermanito is beautiful. The decor has a nice warm brown tone that pairs well with its bar area. My group arrived around 11:40- very close to opening, and there were very little customers in the building. The servers were very kind and thorough when serving us. My biggest issue with the restaurant is the food. I ordered the taco plate which includes a small bowl of soup, a little salad, rice with beans, and 2 tacos. The soup was fine- it had a decent amount of juicy pieces of chicken thigh meat. Unfortunately, the side salad was extremely over powering. It was so sour and salty that I was visibly puckering my lips and closing my eyes while my peers were talking to me. I asked the servers what the dressing was and they said it was supposed to be a light lime vinaigrette. When I told them it was very strong they offered to bring me the greens without the dressing but I declined because I was already getting full. Meanwhile, the rice, beans, and steak tacos were VERY bland. The quality of the steak was good, but there was no seasoning- I tasted the char more than the meat itself! Hermanito would benefit from re-evaluating their flavors and seasoning. Lastly, it is important to note that the dishes here are quite expensive! Overall 3/5 would not recommend for the food but maybe the drinks are better

Beautiful restaurant, great vibe and decor with attention to details. Service very friendly and attentive. Hamachi Sashimi, super fresh and a good size. This steak tacos were delicious too, the meat was super tender. The only thing I didn't fancy were the corn tortillas. Happy Hour every day from 3pm to 6pm

I don't do a lot of reviews but when I like a place I can't help it! Came in hungry sat right at the bar top (one of my favorite things to do) and the friendly bartenders asked me right away what I was looking for. He gave me food and drink and recommendations. I went with the recommendations and it did not disappoint. Great artisanal 100% agave tequila selection! I got a traditional simple margarita, it was perfect and having a great tequila makes it even better. This is my second time here and I really like it. I will come here every time that I'm in the area!

Loooooved it! Gorgeous inside. They did a great job on this new restaurant in an old Santa Monica institution. Even kept the little circle window! Went for happy hour. Had the CHICKEN TACOS. 100/10 !!!!!!! DELICIOUS and a HUGE portion! The GUAC?!? So delicious and flavorful! My friend has Margs. I had wine. Absolute winner! We will be back for many more Happy Hours and back to try the full menu as well. Thanks Oscar, for the amazing service!

Loved the vibey atmosphere here, the lighting was super dim and they brought candles out and had the heat lamps going when it got darker. We got guac and chips as an appetizer and I ordered the birria tacos and a margarita. The tacos were just the right amount of crispy and gooey. Would definitely come back when I visit Santa Monica again

Every single dish a 10 out of 10. Chef David and his team have built something truly special here. This isn't just one of the best restaurants in Santa Monica or the Westside it's one of the hottest in all of LA right now, and rightfully so. The food, the ambiance, the energy all firing. Greeted by our very kind waiter, we were served the most delicious toasted bread, butter(s) and rock salt from La Boulangerie. As a film nut, of course I ordered the Cinema Paradiso, this is a very imaginative cocktail recipe, like a an Old Fashioned but with a movie theater twist, kindly served with a pinch of candy kettle-corn at our table by the mixologist herself; what a playful and tasty delight! For starters, we are ordered the Mini-French-Onion Grilled Cheese and Hamachi Crudo. Both absolutely delicious. The Hamachi Crudo Leche de Tigre sauce is beyond perfect. The balance of flavors between charriness of the bread and melted cheeses, and tangy onion soup dip...just wow. Then the steak! Accompanied by a delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we shared between two, a perfectly cooked (medium rare of course, don't be basic) N.Y. Strip (au poivre sauce on the side) with au gratin, and it came with nice little on the vine roasted tomatoes and a little leafy salad...like I told Chef when he came to our table post meal: "INCROYABLE!". Every-Single-Bite!! But, aside every dish being perfect and the service being above and beyond, what literally brought me to tears was the dessert. I haven't had "floating islands" since my mom used to make it many, many moons ago (unfortunately ma is now at early dementia), and when I tasted my first spoonful here, I couldn't hold back the tears, memories flooded and complimented by the preceding meal which was perfect...too many feels. Merci Beaucoup! For a VERY special culinary experience to all at La Monique. Please don't change a thing. I rarely ever make the effort to write a review, but this is very much worth every second. We'll be coming back for sure. Feel like I just discovered fire.

We came here for a birthday, plus they're in my red dining book, so I was hoping our little group would pick Edgemar, and thankfully they did! We started with the stracciatella and man, was that dish good. It was one of the two standouts. The bread is delectable and the cheese with the chili was absolutely divine. I actually think this was my very favorite dish. I will be back for this dish alone! We also shared the wontons, butter lettuce gem salad, and wonton spring rolls which were all very solid dishes. Next we had the salmon which was undoubtedly the other stand out dish. It was so good with the miso butter sauce! And the broccolini were cooked perfectly! We finished with the squid ink pasta. The shrimp on top was perfectly cooked and the pasta itself was the perfect texture with a great mouth feel. As mentioned earlier, everyone on the staff truly went above and beyond. We had an issue with our drinks, they made it right right away without any pushback. They made sure that the birthday girl felt extra special. And they even gave us a special treat at the end as well. The interior decorating is absolutely stunning. They've done a great job with furniture selection, and the wood throughout is impressive. We had been wanting to try this place for a while and couldn't move the date but music was completely fine with us. The music was actually great! It was a private event indoors so we sat outside on the patio. Unfortunately, the food was only ok and the service was not ideal. No one acknowledged our anniversary, throughout the entire evening even though it was in the open table reservation notes. The shrimp and chicken dumplings were amazing. The Hamachi sashimi was very fatty and there was a few pieces we couldn't eat. The fried chicken sandwich was OK although it tasted very simple for $26. At the end of the dinner we got the bill with a 2.5% service fee + 20% auto gratuity for "event". I normally tip this much but I found so I don't mind that it was automatically included, but it was odd we paid an auto 20% gratuity for an event we were not a part of - we weren't even seated inside where the private event was taking place. Unfortunately, the three stars comes down to the fact that even though it was our 10th anniversary, there was no acknowledgment of the special day and the food was sub-par.

We started with the Rye me a River cocktail and the Mezcal cocktail which were both perfect for our tastes. My mezcal drink was beautiful with a black salt rim and beautiful Smokey flavor (along with the word Chelsea spelled out on my ice cube). My friend loved his Rye me a River cocktail. For food, we started with the oysters and lobster sliders which I don't get a picture of, but they were both great!!! The lobster sliders were actually my favorite bite of the whole meal. My friend devoured the oysters, he loved them so much. We then had the boar ragu tagliatelle which was excellent. It was sweeter than most ragus that I've had, but that was my friend's favorite dish of the whole night. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, absolutely perfectly, and the pistachio crust was delicious. We ordered steak frites and asked that the fries be truffle fries, which they kindly accommodated. The steak itself was cooked perfectly, and the gravy accompaniment was an excellent complement to the steak. We also got the peanut butter and chocolate turnover for my friend's birthday. Yall, it was SO good! It really exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be back! My friend was so happy with his birthday meal!! We found street parking, but they do have valet if you need it as well. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, great for a date night. They have dimmer lighting, and great booths and tables throughout the space. The beauty of Mediterranean food is that it's perfect to share with large groups. Because I had some fellow vegetarians (and veg friendly people) with me, ordering was quite fun. Sprouted cauliflower: interesting way they made it. Golden tahini had a nice touch. Pickled vegetables: loved them Greek fries: can't go wrong with that Roasted sweet potato: surprisingly quite good and a very different palate from the fries. Baked feta: interesting, but this wasn't a fan favorite amongst the group. While our non-vegetarian colleagues enjoyed the octopus, we were nearly full with just the mezze. We decided to go ahead and order the mushroom skewers while the other side enjoyed the tomahawk. Everyone was full after all this food. The cocktails kept flowing. I stuck with just one Urfa mezcalita while enjoying the views for the remainder of the night. This lasted until dessert where plenty were ordered. I got a chocolate gelato not realizing I'd get two scoops. Sadly I could only finish one scoop. Anyhow, there are heaters all over the rooftop so that people can enjoy throughout the year. They do have to crank it up as needed, but it's there. Can't mention price much because this was work sanctioned, but it was a great decision.

If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end.
