    Cauliflower taco and mushroom taco

This place is packed even on weekdays though we were able to get seating without prior reservation. I had their roasted cauliflower and mushroom tacos, and they were both very flavorful. Their plant based options are truly a standout, especially for Mexican restaurants .

FOOD 8/10 DRINKS 9/10 AESTHETIC 10/10 SERVICE 7/10 The ceviche off the appetizer menu was delicious, not spicy more on the sour side. I like that they make their own tortillas , we pretty much ordered one tacos of eqch the best ones in my opinion we're barbacoa and steak 10/10. We also ordered a side of red rice , not super authentic but still yummy. I would make reservations or call , it's a small locations with street parking. we ordered the seasonal margarita which was a peach margarita very tasty 10/10.

I dined here with three other friends for dinner and really enjoyed my experience. The service was really great, as the server was accommodating to all our allergies and even brought out extra chips to go with leftover ceviche for me to pack up! We had the coliflor fundido to start, which I am so glad we got, because it was my absolute favorite of the night. I ordered the ceviche for my main and really enjoyed this too. The fish was fresh tasting and the veggies were crunchy and complimented the fish perfectly. As far as the food goes, my biggest regret is not trying the tacos. My friends ordered the barbacoa, nopal, and steak tacos and loved these. Overall, the ambiance is really cozy and beautiful too. It has an indoor outdoor feel, which I can imagine is wonderful when it's warmer, but can be chilly during this time of year. I do wish they had brought out heat lamps to our table but we didn't ask, so that's okay.

Wonderful dinner at our last night in Venice for the Winter Break. We had later resy and they were able to accommodate us when we arrived early. Sat in the front patio with heaters. Started with chips, salsa and guac. Loved the whole tortilla chip, break it yourself type thing. We all had drinks mine of course with Mezcal and Hibiscus. The seasonal marg was apricot - delicious! Had the creamy and thick tortilla soup, quesadilla (best one according to our daughter!) which looked more like an enchilada. Had the grilled fish with creamy cauli mash --- so good! Had the hanger steak but wished it was more tender then finished off with churros. Our server was attentive and overall good experience at this cozy with a cool vibe Michelin resto.

Vegans and NON Vegans come come come!! As a non vegan myself coming to restaurant for vegan options never really catches my eye but I have been proven wrong! My last experience at Chulita for one of my vegan friends birthday was a 10/10. The service and ambience is always amazing, we make reservations but they also do take walk-ins. I do have to shout out their vegan sweet potato taquitos, just wow honestly delicious! Their meat options are also extremely tasty and could be added to most plates! ALSO it's about a 10 minute walk to the broad walk. Can't wait for next time!

    Quesadilla with Barbacoa

This is a fave of ours, came here for my birthday weekend. We got guac to start, then shared the quesadilla with barbacoa, pescado taco, barbacoa taco, and hanger steak taco for our mains which were all so good. The pescado wasn't my favorite, but that's because it had a spicy sauce that wasn't my personal favorite but my boyfriend said this was his favorite one! We always get the churros which are gluten free and vegan and they're so good, although the sauce was thinner than usual and seemed not as good, but maybe it was just an off day. The servers were chill and the vibe is always great here although it is indoor/outdoor and it was a very cold night so I kept my jacket on to stay warmer.

On a rainy day and although Chilita in Venice has a beautiful patio, I made my way to this restaurant on Rose Avenue after attending a Venice artist studio open house. The outdoor patio was closed and I sat comfortably inside facing the large, beautiful bar and indoor dining area. It was a Sunday so they handed me a brunch menu along with the regular menu and dessert menu. Chilita's offers a Novo Mexican cuisine that is both familiar and populated by vegan/GF offerings with unique sauces. I ordered the following: QUESADILLA Heirloom Corn Tortillas, Queso Oaxaca, Pipián de Calabaza, Crema, Avocado Salsa + ADD BARBACOA PUMPKIN PIE SPICED CHURROS Vegan/Gluten Free Pumpkin Pie Spiced Churros, Almond Milk, Salted Coconut Coffee Caramel Sauce The Quesadillas came three fold and with such a delicious wet sauce that each bite with the barbacoa was smilingly tasty. I ate 2/3rds and took one home which allowed for another meal and for me to eat the special pumpkin churros with caramel sauce that probably is meant for 2 but somehow didn't have a chance for my gluttony. I took my time savoring these strips of light GF dough with a caramel sauce that could make a jalapeno sing with sweetness. Another totally satisfying meal even though I didn't get to try one of their wonderful sounding cocktails. Next time Yelpers.

It's a good place if you want to feel healthy, light and get your Mexican food fix. Fresh ingredients and flavors. I enjoyed their cassava flour tacos. This place isn't for you if you like decadent greasy Mexican food flavors from street tacos or your standard Mexican place. It's definitely more elevated and has a cute bar/ambiance and can help you get your Mexican food fix while staying on track of your fitness goals.

    Classic margarita guava flavor
    Lucia A.

Leaving this beauty of a pic. The classic margarita (guava flavor ) Took me a bit to order a breakfast burrito I won't lie I almost left cause I sat at the bar without being greeted. I wasn't sure if they did to go orders so I asked a server . He was cool and helped me right away . Since I would be waiting I decided to try a drink . Opted for tequila blanco . Location is very aesthetic and filled with beautiful wood tone furniture. Bartenders were pleasant and recommended me a great tequila. I understand they are a popular spot and get busy . Bet I will be back soon for more drinks !!!!!!!

    Quesadilla
    Rachel S.

Visited Chulita recently and had a pleasant experience overall. I ordered the quesadilla, which was good but not especially memorable. The flavors were solid, just not something I'd go out of my way for again. Where Chulita really stands out is how accommodating it is. The entire menu is gluten free, and many dishes can be made vegan, which makes it an easy and stress-free choice for anyone with dietary restrictions or when dining with a group that has mixed needs. The outdoor patio is very cute and adds to the experience, making it a nice spot to linger and enjoy the atmosphere. Not a must-visit for me food-wise, but a reliable option with great inclusivity and a lovely setting.

No, they are not required, but recommended during some of the peak times if you don't want to wait :)

No, we allow dogs in the outdoor cabana on the street or out on the sidewalk patio along the side of the building

Do they have gluten free options? If yes, what are the options? Was also curious if the tostadas with the guacamole are gluten free?

Yes mostly the entire menu except for the prickly pear cheesecake is gluten free for dinner. The tostadas are corn and the guacamole is avocado, tomato, onion, lime juice, and jalapeño.

Are pets allowed? I'd like to bring my dog who will probably be asleep the entire time!

All dishes are carefully crafted with its colorful details, and its simple but bold flavors prepared for you through an open kitchen. This place gets busy the minute they open their doors so make reservations prior. 1. Korean Aguachile: fresh tilefish sashimi with finely sliced cucumber and white floral decor simmered in ice cold kimchee broth they pour at the table. Soooo good. Must order. 2. Soy Marinade Blue Prawn: My favorite dish of the night. Huge raw blue prawns (head attached) marinaded with soy sauce. Served with barley rice topped with Ssam jang (type of bean paste sauce), and seaweed paper. You wrap all ingredients in the seaweed paper to make a hand roll. Soooooo delicious. Can't walk out without trying this. 3. Beef short ribs: good but nothing unique in its flavoring . Beef steak(medium rare and super tender) that's lightly marinaded/glazed (so not overly sweet) with kbbq/short rib sauce. This is one of their fan favorites so I suggest you try it.. 4. Chilled Acorn Noodles: chewy cOLD noodles made with acorn (just like the acorn jelly side dish we eat). The noodles are seasoned with Korean Cho-go-chu-jang (Gochujang paste), crispy cucumber slices, loads of dried seaweed flakes, and perilla oil. And you just mix them all together. Sooo good and paired well with the short ribs. Incredible. 5. Bluefin tuna and trout Bibimbop: like a poke bowl but so much better. Rice at the bottom with loads of lettuce strips, bluefin tuna sashimi, radish slices, and cavier. Seasoned with Korean Cho-go-chu jang (Gochujang paste with a twist of vinegar). Very good as well. For drinks we tried the shikhye slush (shikhye is a Korean sweet rice drink dessert). They used a slushy shikhye base with warm cinnamon and ginger spices and pisco for a kick. Also tried the Sujinggwa manhattan which is sujunggwa (traditional Korean cinnamon ginger dessert tea served cold) and a single malt. This was fabulous. Overall fantastic experience. Fantastic food, cool ambiance's. And great service. Highly highly recommend this place!

Tables looked available around 5pm though so walk-ins could be possible. Ambiance: Outside was nice and inside looked dimly lit and romantic. We were seated promptly and service was good. Food: Rice slushy had a strangely strong cinnamon-like taste to it that traditional rice punch doesn't have which was so overpowering, it made it difficult to go back for more sips. Oysters - good though small, enjoyed the kelp mignonette Korean Aguachile - Delicate tilefish completely overwhelmed by cold kimchi broth with actual icy slush in it and small amounts of fish Steak Tartare - The hot stone bowl seemed to defeat the purpose of a tartare, as it cooked the steak once mixed. The perilla leaves were also cut in large strips relative to the beef. Chilled Acorn Noodle - The perilla oil was nonexistent in flavor though the dish didn't need it and was good without. Overall, portions were small for the price and dishes weren't well-executed so despite being excited for more Korean options in West LA, I'd much rather make the drive to Koreatown for better portions, prices, and flavors.

I couldn't tell whether I had sliced pork belly or flat noodles in the dim lighting and it turned out to be thick slices of flat noodles. Orange Chicken (orange soy-based sauce, dried chilies, orange zest - $22.00): Super crispy orange chicken, but it was crunchy type of crispy and tasted a bit dry. Walnut Shrimp (mayo, candied walnuts, sesame seeds, red cabbage - $25.00): his dish came with lettuce and looked really nice. The flavor was solid and it tasted very healthy. *** Personally it was an overpriced experience for mediocre Asian fusion food. I would much rather visit Jade Rabbit in Santa Monica for cheaper and more delicious Asian fusion food or Din Tai Fung in Santa Monica for a more consistent dumpling and noodle experience. The only reason to come here is for the date-night vibe. Honestly, the food tasted more like Northern Chinese fusion cuisine than Taiwanese fusion cuisine.
