A very creative experience. Would recommend first-time users to set aside ample time (at least 3 hours) for the full experience at a comfortable tempo. There are 3 mini golf courses here. First one is very mediocre; the first thought that crossed my mind was that I've experienced better. The unique part of this place stood out in the next 2 courses which are both up on the next floor. It's unlike most mini golf courses bringing elements of luck, nostalgia and other games (the last course isn't really golfing). Had I known about these courses sooner, I would have skipped the first course entirely to spend more time here. There are places to sit such as couches and benches on this top floor if you feel like taking a break. There's also a karaoke room if you want to sing with your group. The food and drinks are all available on the same floor as the first course. It's very much a balcony bar vibe. Fun place to go for a date night or with a group! My coworkers and I came here for a team outing and had a fun time. The decor is kitschy, on-theme, and intentional. The actual indoor mini golf is only 9 holes so it's just enough to have a bit of fun without it dragging on. Our server, Elvis, aka the Big Dill, was amazing! Loved his outfit and his energy. We had such a fun afternoon at Holey Moley! If you're visiting with kids, here's what worked really well for us. Parking: We parked in a public garage about two blocks away. We arrived around 4:00 p.m. on a Monday and had no trouble finding parking. We stayed for about three hours and paid $10. The location is right on the Third Street Promenade across from Barnes & Noble. There's a really cute photo opportunity when you first walk in, then you head upstairs via the escalator to check in. We visited on a Monday and took advantage of their Monday-Wednesday $20 unlimited golf special. With kids, this is absolutely the best value. You can also pay per course if you prefer. There are three themed 9-hole courses: White (main floor), and Red and Yellow upstairs. After each course, Hole 9 has a ball return, so you'll need to get a new ball before starting the next course. My 5-year-old's favorite part was actually using the ball vending machines--we ended up trying every color by the end of the night! We played Red, then Yellow, then White, and afterward went back to replay our favorite holes. The staff estimates about 30 minutes per course, but we took our time and spent around two hours golfing before heading to the restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere was great--fun early-2000s music, lots of seating in the restaurant, a cozy upstairs alcove, and outdoor patios on both levels. They even have servers who come to your course to take drink orders while you're playing. A special shout-out to Elvis, who was phenomenal. He was our server while we golfed and again during dinner--friendly, energetic, attentive, and just genuinely made the experience better. For dinner we ordered the Happy Hour burger with fries, a kids' cheese pizza, and a side of carrots. The food was solid--I'd compare it to Applebee's or Yard House. Unfortunately, after Elvis went on break, service dropped off significantly. We were ignored for quite a while and eventually had to walk to the bar to ask for drink refills and to-go boxes. It felt like the venue caters primarily to adults, and as a parent with a young child, we felt a little overlooked. That said, Elvis actually came and found us after his break to check if we needed anything else, which really spoke to how great his service was. The courses themselves are creative and unique, with some fun trick shots and obstacles that kept both adults and kids entertained. The only downside was that it was pretty warm inside. The air conditioning was running, but it struggled to keep up. I also think the courses are close enough together that they could feel crowded during busy evenings or weekends. Overall, we had an amazing time and will absolutely be back. If you're bringing younger kids, I'd recommend visiting on a weekday afternoon like we did--it was quiet, relaxed, and perfect for our 5-year-old. Really unique mini golf that specializes in themed short courses. There are a couple locations around Southern California this one here in Santa Monica and one down in Irvine. They also serve drinks and food so it's a bit of a mix of indoor mini golf and drinks and food. It is a place for dates with adults, but honestly, there were a ton of kids when we went on Saturday so it felt more like a place for kids and anything else. Especially when they don't know the rules of mini golf and are trying to swing past 10+ attempts. There was a bit of a bottleneck when we played so that was our only issue. It's located inside the Santa Monica Promenade, so there is plenty of parking options in the parking structure is close by. The staff was very polite when we arrived and overall, it was a fun experience. The holes are extremely unique and overall I thought it was an enjoyable time. Solid experience playing golf at holey moley! There are three different courses - red, yellow and white. Each hole is pretty small - definitely not an outdoor miniature golf establishment, so set your expectations now! We did two courses on the top level (take the elevator or stairs up) and each hole was pretty creative. Definitely photo worthy which made it fun and I saw there were some seats outdoors (and a few indoors) where it looks like you can make a reservation. Downstairs when you walk in (after taking the escalator), that's the bar and another short course (you see it right at the entrance). This is the perfect place for a solo or double date. It's all indoors so you can golf rain or shine. We went on a Saturday and decided we wanted to delay our golfing experience to have a few drinks and eat some food. The process to update our timing was really easy. I really enjoyed the wings and the elote ribs but I would skip out on the nachos. When we did start golfing I was really impressed with the setup and the number of courses. We played every course and I thought they were all very creative and fun. It was also nice because servers would come to you to take your drink orders and deliver them right to you. This place appears super packed (Friday night) but it moves quickly and there are multiple courses so it really isn't bad. The place is clean! The bar is organized. [Parking]: Plenty of free public parking structures in Santa Monica and I parked at the Parking Structure 4. First 90 minutes = free and $2 up to 2 hours. [Entry]: The venue is located on the Third Street Promenade. Beginning at 8 PM each night, all guests entering the venue must be over the age of 21 and have a valid ID. [Courses]: There are three 9-hole courses with two courses on the 3rd floor and one course on the 2nd floor. [Price]: Monday - Thursday for one course (9 holes) per person = $14, 18 Holes = $22, and 27 Holes = $26. For Karaoke, Monday - Thursday = $80 per hour. I asked the staff about special offers and apparently there was a spring break special - $20 per person for unlimited rounds. [Drinks]: Happy Hour is available from Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 5 PM. $4 = Well Spirits, $4 = Beer Cans, $9 = Cocktails, and $2 off all taps. [Atmosphere]: The venue was playing a 2000s music selection and there was an Instagrammable patio on the 3rd level. Honestly, the experience would feel like a letdown if I didn't play all three courses as each 9-hole course has only one or two really unique obstacle highlights. Our party was able to complete all three courses from 8:45 PM to 10 PM. [Conclusion]: This spot is designed as a perfect date spot since (1) guests must be 21+ after 8 PM so there are no distractions from children, (2) couples can walk around and eat at the Third Street Promenade before coming here, and (3) the prices are reasonable for an easy 90-minute interactive activity. I was excited to take my wife here for some fun before our V-Day dinner and for the most part it was a good experience. While the courses are small the holes are very unique and present different challenges than other courses we've played. We did enjoy the courses and checking out the holes. We started with a quick bite, the sweet potato fries and pretzel bites were really tasty and the server was very friendly and quick so everything went well. The reasons for a few star deductions -It is a small space so with a lot of people there it felt pretty cramped at times. -The rules are posted all over the place but no one enforces them. At one point we got behind a large group playing very slowly and they wouldn't let us play through, part of the group would just advance to the next hole while the other part finished the previous, it was a little frustrating. -Another group had 3 younger kids and did nothing to control them. They were running around the course from hole to hole, hitting their balls randomly, throwing their balls into holes, ect making it hard to play especially when they ran across a hole you were actively playing. -Several of the holes with moving parts were broken and didn't move, it took away a little bit not having that extra challenge and ambiance. I know this place opened up a while ago, but it was my first time visiting! It was a really cool concept, but it was definitely super chaotic. I don't know if it's because it was the weekend, or they were just really busy. Either way, they don't really provide much instructions and a lot of the people were very confused and wait times initially were pretty long. Also, it seemed like some groups had servers regularly going up to them, but others (like ours) were kind of ignored. I didn't get to try any of the food, but it the drinks all looked amazing! I also heard they have deals on the weekdays (except Friday) after 6pm, so I would definitely recommend trying it on one of those days if you can. This also seems like it would be a really cool spot for a company outing or some sort of group/birthday event on a non-busy day/time. I love a good spot of mini golf, and even more love that you can drink while mini golfing. This isn't very common and do appreciate the adults only after 8 pm. Holey Moley is a vibe. I highly recommend coming here for a date night. Works great as a first date or 100th date. My only gripe was that we came here at 9pm on a Tuesday and the kitchen was closed. That's a bit early considering they closed at 11. The menu looked good and the drinks had diversity to them and were great. I love the outdoor deck and the connect 4 games available to play. I would come here just for the food and drinks. Now the miniature golf games were dope! There are 3 different courses that are 9 holes each. We did the yellow and red course which were a lot of fun. If you saw all the vacancies in the Promenade, the cost to play makes sense. The reason for the 3 stars was really the kitchen. Our food took 45 minutes (with only 1 other table) to come out, which was tough when you have 2 kids getting hangry. Selected Holey Moley as a venue for our company party/event and had an excellent experience!! I had never actually been before but the space was SO fun. I worked with Derek in the sales team who was so quick to respond and helped me decide the timeline of events that would work best for us. We had our own beautiful space on the patio with food and went for the premium bar with some delicious palomas. Elvis was fantastic too about checking in on everyone and assisting with the timeline of events!!! He was able to bring the energy and also be great support to our large group. This is my third visit and we came all the way from Culver City and they were just packed now lessons learned book ahead online show up on time but don't show up and no one's in there and you think that they're hooking you up no they will cut you at exactly an hour... I mean we paid for the hour I get it but we were like 10 minutes early so I thought we were gonna have a little bit of extra time. Nope anyways server very attentive have not eaten any food from here yet but just all of the drinks and when I say all of the drinks almost all of the drinks, but it's very clean. This review is kind of mixed feelings for me. Booking online was my first problem. I was hosting a few friends for my birthday. The prices listed for 28 holes on the first page WERE NOT what was listed when you go through the booking process so I called the Santa Monica location. Apparently they knew about it but didn't seem to care. Oops, I guess? Not even an apology or saying they would match the price and I could only book online anyways, so I did, for 6 people and you have to pay up front. Well, I found out the day before one of my friends had an emergency and couldn't go. I called the phone number listed for Santa Monica but apparently they hire out so called "customer service" outside of the country and the first guy I got was super rude and WOULD NOT transfer me to the location. He said I could only get an "activity voucher" for the fact my friend couldn't go. I had never been there so I had no clue what an activity voucher was and he refused to explain. He eventually hung up on me. I called back and got a different guy who also did NOT want to transfer me. WTF is wrong with this company that they are so HELL BENT on no one calling the location? He kept saying over and over, like the first guy, "they will tell you what I am telling you" and I said then let them do that. I was ready to hang up and go lose my sh*t on the Promenade. The guy FINALLY transferred me and I was able to find out that I had to take vouchers to play at another time. SHIT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Another thing that really pisses me off is that it is really hard to find their FAQ on their website and the two guys couldn't direct me saying they didn't know. As I said, it was my birthday. Instead of next time playing, how about a free drink, free churros, I don't know, just SOMETHING to make me happy while I was there to be celebrating. NOPE. On the day: The upward escalator was broken and I didn't see where there was any elevator access. The employees there were really friendly and perky. However, the first one supposedly put us on the courses wrong and the employee that took over for her got on our case about it as if it was our fault. Hell, we followed instructions so don't blame us. The bartender was really nice and we enjoyed our drinks. We also had lunch there, which we also enjoyed. The atmosphere is fun and other people also seemed to be having a good time. In conclusion, I had fun but I don't know if I'll be going back due to the bad taste in my mouth from dealing with booking and their anti customer service. I was given some cards to play in the future since my friend couldn't go and I'll probably give them away so the money I spent isn't wasted. Meh. read more
