The location on Broadway is charming, the decor is cute and well done, and the outdoor seating with fringed umbrellas gives it a breezy California vibe that draws you in. Unfortunately the experience didn't live up to the setting. We ordered the Breakfast Burrito ($20) and the Breakfast Combo ($20) and waited about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The burrito came with eggs, bacon, meatsauce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, mix cheese and a side of salsa and fries. The combo came with eggs, bacon, French toast and fruit -- and honestly the bacon was the highlight of the dish, which says a lot about how the rest of it landed. Both plates were average at best -- lacking flavor and nothing you couldn't find at any neighborhood breakfast spot for considerably less money. The Breakfast Combo was on the smaller side for the price, and the seasoned fries, while fine, were nothing special. Then came the situation that truly ruined the experience. Our food had literally just been set down in front of us when our waitress informed us she was leaving her shift and that we needed to pay immediately -- citing "company policy." We had just received our food. We hadn't even taken a bite. We complied, paid, and she left. The whole interaction felt deeply uncomfortable -- as if she assumed we weren't going to pay, which was both insulting and embarrassing. We flagged down the manager, who was standing just six feet away, and explained what had happened. To his credit he tried to rectify the situation, but by that point the damage was done. We were embarrassed, uncomfortable, and just wanted to leave. What should have been a relaxed breakfast in a beautiful setting turned into something none of us wanted to linger over. At $20 per plate in Santa Monica you expect bold flavors, generous portions, and service that makes you feel welcome. Blue Daisy delivered none of the three. I would say this is one of my favorite breakfast options in Santa Monica and in West LA in general. They have some really unique menu items and the inside has a really great atmosphere along with great service. We were lucky enough to find a metered street spot directly in front of the restaurant and did not have to wait long at all for our Saturday morning brunch for a table of two. Our server was also very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. I started off with the Iced Maple Latte and thought it was really nice. It was a really sweet treat and I enjoyed it. For my breakfast, I chose the Eggs Benedict with the Sujuk sausage and added avocado and croissant. It was one of the best combos I've had in a long time and I am already eager to go back again to get it. Found this place on yelp and the reviews was great and that helped us find a breakfast place nearby Guerlain Wellness Spa where we have our spa appointment today. From walking in, I could sense a good-positive vibe that this place was legit-good. Customer service was spectacular. Waiter who helped us did a great job serving our table. Their coffee is great...it's not your typical watered-down coffeen it's actually potent and good. They have a great selection of drinks from coffee to lattes and other the types of drinks. My wife ordered lavender latte and she LOVED. Oh, and my coffee was great and loved the lil touch of the small lil cookie that came with my coffee... very thoughtful and going the extra steps to make my coffee experience through the roof-good and it's the lil things in food service that I greatly appreciate and sounds off my customers service bell like how they have it at Home Depot. I was seated outside with a view of a busy road intersection, which made for nice people watching. The menu didn't have any stand-out dishes that you couldn't find at any other brunch place and there were barely any savory vegetarian options. I went with the Napa scramble. The scramble itself was very heavy on the spinach and light on the sun-dried tomatoes, which made for a not great texture and duller flavor. Just moved to downtown Santa Monica and have been exploring all the local brunch spots -- and Blue Daisy Café is easily one of my favorites so far! It's super walkable from my new place, which already gives it bonus points, but everything from the food to the vibe made it such a great experience. There's a relaxed, beachy energy to the space, and it feels like one of those spots where you could sit for hours chatting with friends or just soaking in the Santa Monica sunshine. Now for the food -- absolutely incredible. The Nutty Banana Pancake is a must-try: fluffy, nutty, and perfectly sweet without being heavy. The Pistachio Latte with whipped cold foam blew me away -- creamy, flavorful, and not too sugary. I could honestly drink that every day. I also tried the Breakfast Burrito, which was packed with flavor and came with a side of seasoned fries that were perfectly crispy and addictive (seriously, get the fries!). On top of all that, the service was fantastic. Everyone was super friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there -- which makes such a difference. Found Blue Daisy on yelp while searching for brunch in SaMo. Arrived at the restaurant around 10:30 am and it was pretty empty, we were allowed to choose where we wanted to sit. We spotted a door leading to an outdoor patio area so we decided to seat ourselves there. Instead of physical menus, there are QR codes you scan to view online. After ordering, it took around 15 minutes to get our food. Our server was the sweetest and very friendly. We ordered the Napa Scramble, Zatar Eggs and a half order of pancakes. My friend who normally orders eggs / scrambles for breakfast said the Napa scramble was solid. I really enjoyed the zaatar eggs, it was a nice twist to incorporate Turkish sausage. Pancakes were pretty much your normal pancakes -- met my expectations. Overall the food didn't disappoint and we were glad we picked Blue Daisy, though I think the nice weather + cute outdoor seating played a big role in my impression. The total came out to be around $70 after tip, a bit steep but also pretty on par for brunch I suppose. This was a really sweet find. They have gluten-free options for crêpes and other dishes, including French toast. We ordered the gluten-free French toast and the bacon crêpe to share. The portion sizes were large, for sharing so it was nice to have some variety. The crêpe came with a salad, which was really good--I loved the dressing. The French toast was served with bananas and fresh strawberries, which made it even more enjoyable to have the fresh fruit. The waiters were very nice and helpful, but there was a slight delay in service. I had to ask for a menu and the check twice, even though it wasn't super busy at the time due to the fires and wind storm nearby. The food did come quickly, once we got the menus and ordered. We found parking on the street, which cost about $2.50 an hour, and we needed about an hour for the whole meal. I'm not sure if there was other parking nearby, but it wasn't hard to find. My daughter really enjoyed this spot, and so did I. If it hadn't been so windy, we would've loved to sit outside. While everything else was wonderful, the delay in getting menus and the check are why I gave them four out of five stars.
