Such a beautiful cafe with delicious food
    Robert D.

Delicious food and great service! The nice cute santa monica vibes are great for brunching. We really enjoyed the huevos rancheros and el campesino - just wish there was more of it for the price. The rocky santa monica smoothie was nice too

    Fantastic Oaxaca food

So let me start off by saying that I do not give 5 stars out easily. It's rare when I do. I need to be blown away to give 5 stars, and this was 10 stars!!!! When I tell you I felt like I was eating a home cooked meal in someone's house, I'm so serious. This place was delicious. The waitress was the sweetest person in the world and she treated us like family. I got the mole enchiladas and it was easily one of the best dishes I've ever had. The rice and beans even were the best I've had! I can't believe I always passed by this place and never tried it until now. Easy street parking

    Chilaquiles with Oaxacan latte

Latte was the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate, not overly sweet so one could still savor the unique espresso taste. Chilaquiles with eggs and chorizo reminded me of breakfast at my mom's house. I look forward to coming back here

Super cute family owned place. Both service and food was excellent. The husband got the oxacan mocha latte and the chilaquiles and I got the oxacan chocolate caliente and the chorizo con huevo. Both dishes had great flavor and the hot drinks were lovingly made and creamy. Would recommend if you are in the area!

In A Nutshell: -Yagul is a Oaxacan oasis. -I found out about this place while exploring the neighborhood & noticed a lot of people popping in/out. -Not only that the beautiful smell of Mexican food wafted into my nostrils, so I mentally bookmarked this spot. -Not too long later, I came in for a nice breakfast. -The Huevos Rancheros really hit the spot. -The portion was not too big & everything tasted fresh, especially the beans & rice. Overall, the service is very friendly & I liked the prices too.

    Mole Enchiladas

We ordered three dishes in total. One was excellent, while the other two were okay. I felt the prices were a bit on the high side, but given that it's in Santa Monica near the beach, it's understandable. One thing worth mentioning is that they served the food on hot plates, which left a very good impression.

    Huevos rancheros- 10/10, highly recommend.

Wow. Authentic, delicious, meticulously prepared food. Friendly, patient, and professional service. Came here based on the fantastic reviews and the 4.9 is well deserved.

We ordered Memelitas and Mole Enchiladas (chicken and veg). They were very tasty. The young servers working there were very attentive and friendly. We would definitely go back there again.

    Chilaquiles Al Campo

Awesome Oaxacan breakfast and lunch spot in Santa Monica. It's run by the same family behind Quiadaiyn in Mar Vista, one of the best Oaxacan restaurants on the Westside. I'm thrilled that another good Oaxacan spot is open on this side of town. Yagul Cafe opens at 6 am on weekdays / 8 am weekends and does a good amount of breakfast business. My favorite breakfast dish is the Chilaquiles al Campo, pairing chilaquiles with eggs scrambled with your choice of either chorizo or chicken sausage. The El Campesino is a great combination of a fried egg over a tamal stuffed with peppers and cheese. Eliseo's Scramble with chicken sausage is tasty, as is the unique Enfrijoladas de Tasajo -- beef strips covered in a black bean sauce. They serve a huge tasty cup of Mexican coffee, which they happily refill. Lunch dishes are good as well. The tlayuda is my favorite lunch item, a corn tortilla the size of a medium pizza topped with asiento, black bean sauce, cabbage, quesillo, avocado, tomato, salsa and your choice of tasajo, cecina and/or chorizo. It feeds two. The Mole Enchiladas are excellent thanks to the tasty mole coloradito. I'm glad that Yagul Cafe opened here a couple years ago, it's convenient and the early hours are great for early birds. The staffers are pleasant, courteous and fast. It's like a pared down version of Quiadaiyn, and it's great for that, but Quiadaiyn is open for dinner, offers a more extensive menu throughout the day (5 moles!), and would be my pick if I lived near there. Nonetheless, this is a very good addition to the Santa Monica dining scene.

The entire staff was incredibly kind, and the manager, Luis, was very attentive, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of. The food is beyond amazing -- everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Since my first visit I have come back multiple times, and have received outstanding service each time. I came on Valentine's Day and it was beautifully decorated. It was also EXTREMELY BUSY, and again, Luis stepped up and became the backbone for his staff. From hosting, serving, bartending, and working hard to make everything flow smoothly. I have such a wonderful experience each time I come, not only with the food but also with the manager and staff. The restaurant is very clean, which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. No matter the time or how busy it is, my food comes out in a reasonable amount of time, and nothing ever feels rushed or forgotten. What really stood out to me was how much the manager seems to genuinely care about both the staff and the overall environment. He was constantly moving around, checking in on everyone, making sure guests are happy and that his team is doing okay as well. It's really warming to see that level of dedication and leadership. Overall, this is one of my new favorite places to come due to my positive and memorable experiences. Great food, amazing service, and such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent customer service. They'd been open maybe an hour and there was one other person there picking up an order. First time here. The guy at the counter was very friendly, asked if I knew what I wanted, and I told him no and asked what's popular. He recommended three tacos so I went with that. He never asked about tortillas so they came out on corn. I'm not the biggest fan of corn tortillas, but after I sat down, I looked at the soda cup, and saw "handmade corn AND flour tortillas." Would've gone flour if I'd known that was even an option. My bad for not asking, but also a great opportunity to let a new customer know it's an option. Food came out fast. Three tacos, chips, a couple sides of salsa. All the meat was cold. Not fridge cold, but noticeably below room temperature. I'm sitting five feet from the kitchen in a place that opened 30 minutes ago. How is that even possible? The non-beef tacos were seasoned well, both of them, that part was fine. The beef was where it fell apart. Every single bite had pieces I literally couldn't chew through, and I kept pulling chunks out of my mouth. After my second bite I just stopped going back for more. For over $4 a taco, that quality is atrocious. Very fast if you need something quick to eat. First and last time for me.

I'm old enough to remember the Western location when the servers wore original dress and took care to look presentable. At the Santa Monica location last night there were two employees at the desk. The female dressed in black wore pants and a shirt which showed her bellybutton, she barely looked up to check us in for out reservation. The young man next to her wasn't much better in dress. His white shirt was wrinkled pants a little dirty. His hair was sloppy and unbrushed. He honestly looked as though he rolled out after a long night of partying. He did though speak and walked us to our tables. Our server, a woman, didn't give her name and was nonchalant, no engagement at all, no eye contact, smh The food as stated was fabulous but not returning due to employees lack of polished demeanor. One more point the valet was perfect. He made eye contact, smiled which goes far.
