The absolute cutest Italian market in LA. I'm from Florida and wish we had something like this... we will for sure be back to gather all supplies for a Nona Night in.

Christmas presents

We discovered this place the week after Christmas snd we were super happy... as our regular Italian market appeared to be closed for the week. They have great selection of items. Highly recommend it. They have a good selection of frozen items as we

a truffle and a knife

I have been shopping at Guidi for years- even before they accepted credit cards, and have seen how they have changed but kept the quality high. Even though I moved out of Santa Monica, I do try and stop in when on this side of town. Seriously one of the only things I miss since moving. If you are partial to Italian goods, you will enjoy shopping here. As a bonus, they had fresh truffles and at $25/oz I could not resist.

Ask the Community - Guidi Marcello

Do you have whole milk ricotta (dry & firm)? I used to purchase Sierra Ricotta for my restaurant for over 35 years. I am retired but still cook lasagna etc. at home. If your product is available in 4 lb. tubs, let me know. My daughter can pick it up.

Did you find a replacement for Sierra Ricotta? I miss it so much.

Best Italian market but does not make lots of sandwhiches like bay cities.

This tiny Santa Monica wine-and-cheese concept debuted in 2016, and their charcuterie boards earned acclaim from Oprah and The New York Times alike. During the pandemic, Lady & Larder ventured into the sandwich game, and the result was a resounding success. Nowadays, the not-so-secret "Secret Lunch" lineup of gourmet sandwiches is among the best in Los Angeles. The tiny Santa Monica shop shares the block with a Sherwin-Williams and a boxing gym. Cross your fingers for metered street parking on the trafficky block of Pico. Outside, red metal patio furniture is shaded by the overhanging storefront. Natural light runs through multicolored windows to the shop within. The mosaic tiled floor is effortlessly chic. The soaring whitewashed walls are minimally decorated, while shelves and refrigerators are carefully curated with wines, cheeses, tinned fish, and candles. The tablet register is set up on a worn kitchen countertop. Soft, instrumental music immediately feels welcoming. I've visited multiple times for early weekend lunch, and our Toast pre-order was ready upon arrival. We grabbed a table outside, and numerous takeout customers popped in and out during our meal. My favorite was the Disco Only. This elevated turkey club featured an impressive depth of flavor, from the sharp alpine cheese to the rich garlic mayo to the tangy pepperoncini vinegar. The thick-cut Bub and Grandma's sesame bread held up admirably well, and the arugula added a welcome fresh factor. The proteins were plentiful but were outshone by the other components. I also loved the Hot Girl Salami. The sweet-and-hot mustard and crispy baguette accentuated the rich, almost buttery salami. Meanwhile, the Venice Cowgirl was like a cheeseboard on a baguette. The sweet peaches and apricot-habanero jam dominated the subtly rich cheese or thin prosciutto, but the sandwich nonetheless proved to be a unique, summery option worth sharing. Lastly, the Yes, Honey elevated the ham-and-cheese with tangy relish, but the other components felt standard and forgettable. The service was friendly and efficient, and sandwiches ran for $15-20 each. Overall, the food tasted like the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on a premium roll, with sandos ranging from good to excellent. They are worth a dedicated visit if you're in the neighborhood, and I can't wait to work my way through more of Lady & Larder's menu.

They've got a nice butcher section with fresh meat and seafood. There's a deli case with close to 20 items -- ribs, chicken, lasagna, mac 'n cheese, soup and more, depending on the day. They've got about a dozen salads, including three potato salads, and about as many deli meats for sandwiches. The beef stew was excellent, the lasagna, chili and meatloaf also very good. The sandwiches are solid and very reasonably priced. Two things stand out for me here: their weekend barbecue and the tamales. Someone in their kitchen makes delicious Oaxacan tamales (which are not always available). These tamales are chock full of chicken mole -- perhaps the highest ratio of filling to masa that I've had -- and are neatly wrapped in banana leaves. The burritos are similarly pre-made and stuffed to the gills with the protein of the day. As for the weekend barbecue, every Saturday and Sunday morning they grill select meats from the deli (prime steaks, tri tip, chicken, etc) which you can buy throughout the day at the deli. The Farms also has fresh vegetables, premade salads and all the other items you'd expect from a neighborhood grocery store. Service is super friendly, and there's free parking in back. It's definitely a good spot for a meal to go.

It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!
