Living in Atlanta, we are very well accustomed to Indo-Pak style restaurants. There seems to be an abundance of these here, and they all have the same menu, same décor, and same personality. While visiting family in Hoover, we decided to try Kabob-Licious. From the moment we walked in, we could tell this was going to be something different. I don't know if it was the smell of the food, the extremely pleasant hello when we walked in, or the fact that Cricket was playing on all the TV's inside the restaurant. Did you read me correctly...CRICKET! We are going to eat at an Indo-Pak restaurant and Cricket is playing...we now know this was going to be something good. We placed our order with Ash. An exciting young lady who had more energy that I do after 4 cups of coffee. She went over the highlights of the menu, and what they were known for. She could tell we were a little indecisive and asked what we were in the mood for. When is the last time you have been to a restaurant and they made suggestions based on what you were in the mood for? We told her Chicken and she recommended the Grilled Tikka Wings, Chicken Malai Boti, Safron Rice, and the Behari Kabob. So, we ordered it all. We quickly noticed that they had Mango Lassi and added two to our order. The food was ridiculously good. The grilled tikka wings are just what you would imagine, wings grilled to perfection with a slight spice to them. These were my favorite and would be my staple food when watching Cricket. The chicken malai was soft, tender, and had the grilled taste I try so desperately to get on my food when grilling anything. The Behari Kabob melted in your mouth and the sauces (chutneys as I was later told) were a very nice compliment to this already very good dish. The Lassi though...WOW. This was the highlight for me and for that, I ordered a third one. So enough with the awesome food, let's talk about the restaurant. In talking with Ash, we quickly learned that her husband was the main chef, and she with her in-laws help prep and cook as well. As I said in the beginning, we could tell this was going to be something different. I am a HUGE proponent of eating and spending your money at local restaurants. These places work tirelessly to compete with the chain restaurants that are out there and not all survive. I mean how many pizza restaurants do we really need? Kaboob-Licious seems to be one of these local finds that is a true family restaurant and their finished product is a direct reflection of their hard work. The food was awesome, the service was awesome, and Cricket was on tv...awesome. We visit Hoover about once a month and will skip our monthly trips to Decatur (GA) where we normally enjoy Indo-Pak style food. Instead we will visit Kaboob-Licious and look forward to not only supporting the local business, but also enjoying great food and service. I will update pics of food during our next visit. They serve very freshly prepared Indian-Pak food! We tried the Chicken Korma because they had just run out of the Chicken Kadhi following a very large to-go order. We also had the Bullet Naan, which is naan with cilantro, green chiles and butter on top. The mint yogurt sauce and tamarind sauce were truly delicious. To finish, we had some Kheer for dessert, which reminds me of a rice pudding dessert I love. My husband and I look forward to trying more menu items in the future. It's so nice to FINALLY be able to go to an authentic Indo-Pak restaurant in Birmingham! The renovations are great. The family who owns it has tons of years of experience, so the food is delicious. We tried the seekh kabab, Bihari boti, chicken malai boti, chicken tikka breast, nihari, kadhai gosht, and naan. I can honestly say that everything was good. Everything came out hot and fresh. We were coming off a red eye into Birmingham and saw that Kabob-Licious was close and we do like us some Indian food. Even before I get to the food, the service was awesome. We were made to feel welcome and shown what a great family business can be. We shared the lunch special because we were able to get 3 different things, an order of the chicken samosas, a mango lassi, and the Galub. My family and I visited Birmingham, AL last week and we happen to be staying in a hotel a block away from Kabob-Licious. At first I was hesitant because I used to live in Birmingham several years ago and they had one of the 2 worst Indian restaurants in the entire city. When I scanned through everyone's images on yelp and read the menu I was sure this was Pakistani owned instead of Indian so we decided to visit. Below is the breakdown: Positives: (1) The Menu is what it should be at all restaurants, not to long and not too short and to the point. (2) Restaurant was very clean (3) Restaurant is Pakistani Owned (Big PLUS) (4) Restaurant has items on menus that attract both Pakistanis who are looking for authentic food and Americans who can't handle the spice (5) We ordered the Nihari, Chicken Biryani, Regular Naan, and Half Chicken Tikka. All were amazing! When you eat at a restaurant, go home, and still have the flavors in your mouth, that means it was great. (6) Price: Average. You get a good amount of food for a good price. (7) Owner's were extremely cool. (8) Service: Superb. Some items take a while to cook, so keep you patience handy. They were very good about keeping us updated on our food. Negatives: (1) They are not located where we live :( (2) They are not located where we live (3)....well you know the rest. We really liked the chicken Tikka wings, the beef bihari kabab and for dessert we tried Ras Malai. A good vegetarian option is the vegetable samosa and the Dal Fry with garlic naan. This is the most authentic you'll get in Birmingham and the owners seem really nice and very hands on. We'll definitely be back again soon. read more

Great service and delicious food! I picked up food to take back to the office for lunch and it was ready on time and still the perfect temperature. I had the Chicken Biryani and it was super flavorful! I would recommend adding a side of naan or getting extra yogurt sauce if you're sensitive to spice to cut it a bit! So glad we came to this new food place! Just opened up two months ago by a very sweet and personable Pakistani family! Food is so incredibly fresh and flavorful. Food came out quickly. Love that they offer can sodas and not fountain sodas which tend to taste weird. Huge variety actually. It's a very clean place too to quickly stop and eat lunch or a quick dinner. I would say it's on the pricier side for these dishes especially since it's not a restaurant like set up but it's worth going to. I will be back and will recommend to others. We had a wonderful dinner here. The owner and his family are delightful people. We were greeted when we walked in and treated like family and it was our first visit. Behari kabob was just right spicy and the chicken biryani has a spice I couldn't identify but really enjoyed. I was driving though Hoover and had this strong urge for desi food so I googled and found this place. First of all there was no one in the restaurant on a Friday afternoon which rang some bells in my head but I was already there so I decided to order anyways, behind the counter there was this short lady which terrible attitude and no manners whatsoever. Im a frequent traveler and I have visited more then 40 countries around the world and I eat out 5 times a week, I have never experienced such bad service and rude ness anywhere else in the world. Food was sub standard as compared to the prices. I love this little restaurant! It's well worth the drive from Birmingham to get authentic food. They have a grill section of the menu with things like kabobs and meats, and also a more traditional section of stews and plates. It's hard to figure out what some things are if you aren't familiar with the traditional names, but there's a TV with scrolling pictures of menu items. I recommend taking a look at the pictures on yelp first! The employees there are really nice and happy to help explain anything on the menu. I got the lamb chops, which were very tender and perfectly cooked. I also got bullet naan as my side, and honestly I could eat just 4 orders of that for dinner. It's traditional naan with garlic, peppers and cilantro on top. My friend said the dishes with goat are also very good, so I'll have to try that next time. Pretty much everything there is spicy, so just be prepared! It seems a little on the pricey side for a place that you order at the counter, but getting an indo-pak home cooked meal is hard to come by so it's understandable. Expect to spend about $20 a person if you want sides and a drink. My only issue with my visit was that I placed a to-go order after we ate, and it took them about 30 minutes before they realized they forgot about me. I wasn't in a rush, so it wasn't a big problem, but something that could be better. I can't wait to go back and try more on the menu! read more

Start with ordering one chicken malai boti kebab dish per person, it is sooooo good that you won't want to share with anybody. The quality and taste of the food like I am sitting and eating at the top two restaurants in Karachi...Sardar Hanif and Bundoo Kabob in Karachi. I have enjoyed Indian and Pakistani restaurants in Los Angeles, CA, New York, New York, Chicago Divan and many others.
